    They run a scam on fuel. You have to return the vehicle empty; and they always charge for a full tank. This cost me about £60. The car they supplied me was a geniune clunkerwith 70,000 miles on the clock! The differential howled all the time. Please avoid these people at all cost.

    We have hired cars from most Hire Companies in Mallorca and Record are by far the WORST!!! Apart from the fact that the car was absolutely filty, there appeared to be a flat tyre. On checking ALL of the tyres needed plenty of air suggesting that the staff hadn't checked the tyres for some time and one tyre hardly had any at all, making this rather dangerous to drive away. There was no water in the windscreen and we could hardly see out of the dirty windscreen. The wing mirror was so cracked it w ...

    Dear friends,

    I'm Spanish and I work for record rentacar and I can CONFIRM that all the messages are completely RIGHT. Since 2 years ago, the quality of the service in Record has dropped dramaticaly. REcord doesn't care about customers, the company wants only money. The employees, we are fed up of the company's policies: to charge for fuel at higer prices, to sell some non-sense insurances, to lie to customers saying cars are new (FALSE!!!). All the cars we had this summer were about 3-4 years ...

    I would stay well clear of recordgo. The car had severe steering wheel judder at over 60kph. It had a loose wing and a broken and loose front light. The car was dirty inside and out, the insurance document was out of date and there were no high visibilty jackets(the law in Spain). The wipers were broken and internal trimm fell off. The car also had a funny smell. We were charged 65 euros for a tank of fuel (Peugeot 307). Not even airport prices are this much. Do not use this firm!!

    Absolutely the worst car and the most expensive car we have ever reneted.

    We booked this through Do You Spain which we have on several ocassions, but never with this firm (Record A Car) and never will again.

    we were told prior to booking that there were absolutely no additional charges to be added to our credit card on arrival at the airport as we only have a £500 credit limit. On arrival they advised that this was incorrect and that we had to pay 300 euros deposit which we didn#t have ...

    we hired a car via do you Spain and got a voucher for record car hire (the last one we got from them broke down more than it was going)
    we thought we were hiring a Renault Clio 5 door and when we paid a whopping £349.00 for 10 days as you have to pay for a full tank of petrol as well which we left just under half a tank.

    Below is a copy of the letter that I sent to Doyouspain (agent) and RecordGo (rental company) following what can only be classed as a complete farce on our recent visit to spain. As like most reviews for these companys on this site, no reply has been received from either. I would never book a car again with Doyouspain or would never want to drive anything that Recordgo has on their fleet, please make up your own minds!

    I feel the need to write to you following what can only be called a "fiasco" ...

    when arrived at the airport small que so only took 10 minutes till we had are car keys when we got to the car it did have scratches on it and a couple of dents but wasnt in bad condition and it's sometimes better its not perfect you dont have to worry as much but the petrol tank is a bit of a con but would use them agian just make sure to take pictures of the car first to be safe.

    The Record Rent a Car fee was cheap but so was the car. The first car was a long walk away only to find it had damage and no front number plate.
    The second car was dirty and damaged. I had to return to the desk a long way off (3Rd. time) to have the damage recorded the desk,the rep thought this was amusing.
    Worst of all the car had no puncture repair equipment. Kia Picante has no spare tyre.
    Most of the cars seemed fit for scrap.
    You get what you pay for.!!
    All in all it was a very bad start to ...

    Online process on booking with Record Rent a Car ws smooth as was checking in at Palma airport.

    As part of the booking we had hired a car seat for a 1 year old and when collecting the car it was clear that the child seats available were not the best. The seat did not fit securely into the car and the straps did not tighten enough to keep our 1 year old in. Nobody was willing to help us fit the seat or give advice.

    We asked for a refund which we were given without any problems but would not boo ...

    Our experience of record car rental at Malaga airport was awfull !!!!!. Never again will i use this company which was booked via doyouspain.com. I am waiting to hear from doyouspain.com if they can omit this company on any future bookings? .Our car had multiple damage on both sides the windscreen seal was protruding out along top edge which gave a terrble whistling noise whilst driving and both front tyres were flat ( which i only discovered the next day in daylight having driven from airport).c ...

    The process of hiring a car with Record company was the worst experience during my holiday.
    I usually hire a car twice a year from various companies when going on holiday and I have never experienced anything as bad as hiring with Record in Malaga

    Record Rent a Car were an absolute shambles, a dirty, faulty car with 68000 miles on the clock. The car was dangerous with no horn and faulty windscreen wipers. Staff appalling who found it hilarious that the horn didn't work when I called them from Marbella (a full 40 minutes away) telling me that I am not allowed to use the horn in the city anyway.     Insurance for wheels / tyres very expensive at '49 for a fortnight. Other companies have charged up to '20 in the past. Car itself was 3 years old and had covered 127000 km. Other rental companies give you a virtually new car. Car was due a service 500km ago and sounded like it had not been serviced at all in it's life.     We booked our car in February(DoYou Spain) and therefore got a good price. We chose a Renault or similar. The car we got was a Kia Piccanto (rubbish) . No problems at the desk, helpful girl. I opted for the extra insurance as I have noticed over the years that there are more and more things not covered by the " comprehensive" insurance.
    Half way through our stay I ventured to have a look at the spare wheel etc. Guess what, no spare wheel, no tools , no triangle, no hi vis jacket ( all mandatory) ...

    The car had not been valeted and was absolutely filthy. It had no rear windsreen wiper and part of the cooling system was missing. The flashing spanner maintenance light came on every time the ignition was started.

    We were charged for a full tank of fuel even though we said in advance we would only do a low mileage & only used 1/4 tank.

    We were told to email Record Rent a Car upon our return home with our complaints & they have not bothered to reply.

    I will never rent a car from Record. We had a problem with a buldge on the tyre which meant we had to change the tyre. Took the car to a garage found out all the tyres were under inflated and the car was potentially dangerous to drive. The car was dirty and full of dents and scratches. The child seat was dirty, the fuel expensive and the staff were most unhelpful when we returned the car and tried to explain our problems.They then charged me 147 euros for one tyre.

    Booked from Record Rent a Car, a citroen berlingo or similar could have been renault kangoo or peugeot partner. Any of these would have been OK.
    Arrived at the desk in malaga airport and paid and got keys. The lady on the desk said it was a peugeot partner which I thought "great no problem".
    The next bit is a warning and might help some people out who book cars from the car hire desks at malage airport.

    Booked because it was cheap , soon found out why. Dented car after being told it had nothing wrong with it, returned car to level as shown, office was on a different level at Malaga airport and we were told we had to pay 50 euros unless we went and fetched car to next level down, there were no signs warning of this and the member of staff on their desk was rude, disinterested and most unhelpful, another car rental company helped us sort this out, would not use Record Rent A Car again.
