My wife and I hired a vehicle from sixt dublin airport for 15 days. Compared with a rival company in UK, we found the staff at sixt very courteous and professional in their customer service, very approachable and forthcoming with local advice, and their vehicles spotless and equipped with all relevant items, ie sat/nav, maps and touring guides. What a pleasure to fly into Birmingham Airport and pick up my car so easily. The girl in the terminal gave good directions. The parking lot was 2 minutes walk away and the staff dealt with the pre-hire so quickly. Staff came to the car and checked it all out with me. Away in 10 minutes....literally. Drop-off the same. Used Sixt for the first time at Dublin airport. When picking up the car, I was initially impressed with the courteous service and the condition of the car. The problems began when I dropped the car off. I doubt if even Sherlock Holmes with a magnifying glass would have performed a more zealous inspection of the car. I booked a car to be picked up from Belfast International and returned at Dublin Airport. It is an all inclusive prepaid rate, including the one way rental fee, clearly stated in the Rental Confirmation. 1. Hidden Extra £24 "Written Permission Fee"! “Sixt is probably your worst choice for car rental ”

I booked a one-week car rental from Sixt in NICE Airport(France). The web site is confusing, I tried to look for automatic cars but I could only find it as an preferred option when booking the car. The service I had in Phoenix was terrible, I rented a car with unlimited mileage and when I got to the counter they stated "sorry" but in the fine print you must pay for mileage over 100 miles per day, this company is terrible in my opinion and I will not rent from them again… Read Full Review

The service I had in Phoenix was terrible, I rented a car with unlimited mileage and when I got to the counter they stated "sorry" but in the fine print you must pay for mileage over 100 miles per day, this company is terrible in my opinion and I will not rent from them again.

“Absolute Cheat!”

Booked twice with these people now. First time the car wasn't ready, we had to go home empty handed (fortunately we were staying with my mother up the road). We finally got the car a few hours later. The second time the car wasn't ready AGAIN! We had some important appointments to get to, so they tricked my husband by telling him a BMW 1 series is the same size/class as a Mercedes C Class?! “Sixt rental car hidden post rental charges - watch out!”

My initial impression of Sixt was good but within one week of ending my first rental from them has been completely ruined. I will never use them again as their post-rental policies stink of malpractice and making up profit margins. It's really clear now that they advertise apparently cheaper prices to get the business but then claw the money back to be profitable afterwards. I could have been a really loyal life-long customer, so for £50+VAT for 'cleaning' they have lost a lot of potential… Read Full Review

As your Head Office colleagues referred me to Paragraph 11 of your T&Cs please may I refer Sixt to the Supply of Goods and Services Act – in particular section 15 - which says that where a price for services has not been agreed then a reasonable price is all that can be charged. No indication of the price of cleaning was given in the contract or T&Cs so I would only be liable to pay reasonable price for cleaning. £50 +20% VAT seems extremely excessive for cleaning, especially for a make and model of the car rented - I don't agree this is a reasonable price. Moreover the Sixt system is so open to abuse - for instance, even if I had had the car cleaned before returning it how does one know that Sixt will then say yes the cleaning is up to standard; customers could end up paying for cleaning twice! To check my facts I intend to get quotations for a valet cleaning of the make and model car I rented and will then provide that information as a comparison to the £50+VAT I have been charged. I will then review the situation for next steps.

Prepaid for a car at Nimes airport. Terrible customer service. Their system was frozen and couldn't allow to add another credit card to pay for the authorization. I had to go to Paris from Amsterdam by train, due to a strike I had to find another solution at the last minute. I went to the airport and checked all the car rentals available, the one which had the best ratio quality/price was Sixt. They say there is no cancellation fees, but what they don't tell you is that when you prepay, they will charge 3days worth if you cancel your reservation. This is a scam. Please see the section from our rental information advising of the prepaid cancellation fee:

"A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental. In the event of cancellation, the payment already made towards the rental will be paid back subject to a cancellation charge. The cancellation charge shall be the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. Cancellations can be made online or in writing"

This information is available online and we encourage our customers to have a read through it before making a reservation.

“Easy Inexpensive Rental”

I was very happy with the car, and felt it was good value for money. We clicked with the car straight away and even gave him a pet name; despite only driving him for a few days.
