I booked a car to collect in Riva del Garda, Italy which I needed at short notice for an urgent journey. I received 2 emails confirming my reservation and explaining what documents to bring. When I arrived to collect the car I was told no cars were available. The franchise that hire cars in Riva del Garda under the SIXT name explained that they only have 2 cars for hire and are constantly sent reservations by SIXT that they cannot honour. “Sixt overharged, no explanation given”

I booked a car with Sixt through Arguscarhire. The final quote was 163 euro including ALL charges. At the desk Sixt insisted it is 240 euro or no car. Without much choice I had to accept and I complained later they reply was - you signed so no refund. Again no e plantation given. I took the car at Ljubljana airport and returned at Zagreb airport. “Make them clean it before you sign the paperwork!”

Picked up a car from the shepherds bush branch. Car was covered in dirt from a nearby building site. Due to time I checked what I could see and asked them wipe down the windows and headlights. Took photos just in case. On return they wiped away the still existent dirt to find scratches near the boot! it was almost like he knew they were there! I hadn't even used the boot! A TOTAL rip off!! I booked a 5 day rental through Travelocity (using Sixt) for $143. Travelocity the offered me the option to purchase insurance fro an additional $66. I agreed and my total should have been $209. When I went to the Sixt counter I dealt with a trainee his mentor who was noting short of obnoxious. My wife and I hired a vehicle from sixt dublin airport for 15 days. Compared with a rival company in UK, we found the staff at sixt very courteous and professional in their customer service, very approachable and forthcoming with local advice, and their vehicles spotless and equipped with all relevant items, ie sat/nav, maps and touring guides. What a pleasure to fly into Birmingham Airport and pick up my car so easily. The girl in the terminal gave good directions. The parking lot was 2 minutes walk away and the staff dealt with the pre-hire so quickly. Staff came to the car and checked it all out with me. Away in 10 minutes....literally. Drop-off the same. Used Sixt for the first time at Dublin airport. When picking up the car, I was initially impressed with the courteous service and the condition of the car. The problems began when I dropped the car off. I doubt if even Sherlock Holmes with a magnifying glass would have performed a more zealous inspection of the car. It is an all inclusive prepaid rate, including the one way rental fee, clearly stated in the Rental Confirmation. 1. Hidden Extra £24 "Written Permission Fee"! The service I had in Phoenix was terrible, I rented a car with unlimited mileage and when I got to the counter they stated "sorry" but in the fine print you must pay for mileage over 100 miles per day, this company is terrible in my opinion and I will not rent from them again.

“Absolute Cheat!”

Booked twice with these people now. First time the car wasn't ready, we had to go home empty handed (fortunately we were staying with my mother up the road). We finally got the car a few hours later. The second time the car wasn't ready AGAIN! We had some important appointments to get to, so they tricked my husband by telling him a BMW 1 series is the same size/class as a Mercedes C Class?! “Sixt rental car hidden post rental charges - watch out!”

My initial impression of Sixt was good but within one week of ending my first rental from them has been completely ruined. I will never use them again as their post-rental policies stink of malpractice and making up profit margins. It's really clear now that they advertise apparently cheaper prices to get the business but then claw the money back to be profitable afterwards. I could have been a really loyal life-long customer, so for £50+VAT for 'cleaning' they have lost a lot of potential… Read Full Review

As your Head Office colleagues referred me to Paragraph 11 of your T&Cs please may I refer Sixt to the Supply of Goods and Services Act – in particular section 15 - which says that where a price for services has not been agreed then a reasonable price is all that can be charged. No indication of the price of cleaning was given in the contract or T&Cs so I would only be liable to pay reasonable price for cleaning. £50 +20% VAT seems extremely excessive for cleaning, especially for a make and model of the car rented - I don't agree this is a reasonable price. Moreover the Sixt system is so open to abuse - for instance, even if I had had the car cleaned before returning it how does one know that Sixt will then say yes the cleaning is up to standard; customers could end up paying for cleaning twice! To check my facts I intend to get quotations for a valet cleaning of the make and model car I rented and will then provide that information as a comparison to the £50+VAT I have been charged. I will then review the situation for next steps.

Prepaid for a car at Nimes airport. Terrible customer service. Their system was frozen and couldn't allow to add another credit card to pay for the authorization. I had to go to Paris from Amsterdam by train, due to a strike I had to find another solution at the last minute. I went to the airport and checked all the car rentals available, the one which had the best ratio quality/price was Sixt.
