“Valued a tiny scratch at £407 + confusing”

Had a really bad experience with these people. On returning the van they found the world's tiniest scratch - which I'm sure had nothing to do with me - on the side door. Despite accepting they are not planning to repair it, they valued the cost for a complete repaint at £407.09 and billed me. Fortunately I had paid the extra to have only £75 excess. “Cheapest van rental”

I was looking around for a decent deal on van rental – many hire firms have raised the young driver surcharge to between £40 and £100 in some cases, which I thought was ridiculous having been driving for 6 years or so! I am, or should I say was a regular customer with Sixt rental. Never had any issues and they always gave me good rates. That being said, I recently flew to Phoenix for a business trip and had reserved with them. The fact that I was the only one in line atheneum Sixt counter, and other rental companies had long lines snaked around the area should have given me reason to worry, but I shrugged it off and counted myself lucky. I booked and prepaid for my vehicle, I even received an email from them requesting my flight number so that the car would be ready and waiting for me, how professional. I arrived at the Gatwick South desk and was immediately offered an upgrade vehicle for a 'special' rate. I declined, I didn't need a bigger vehicle. We hired our car from South beach Miami. On our arrival at the office there was no car available for us! The original had some mechanical problems and another was late coming in! The staff did everything possible to help and eventually went to the airport to collect another car. We were very pleased with it, a BMW convertible mini, in very good condition. Because i didn't want to pay for insurance they have withheld £250 deposits from a one day rental for a stone chip on the wind screen that they claim it wasn't there before. A 1mm stone chip that they incidentally found after i returned the car and they have admitted that could be there before because it was so difficult to be seen. I recently rented a car from Sixt in London. After missing my connecting flight I arrived 18 hours late - I notified them by email about the delay but when I got there they still charged me for and additional day despite the rental periold being a day shorter! The logic for that was not apparent I was too tired to fight. It was after 1am when I was checked out and ready to leave. Worst car rental ever, and I've rented a lot of cars. This occurred in South America. 1. Got pulled over several times because of expired licence plates (the manager kept telling us that it was all right to drive it with the expired plates. The police disagreed). 2. We pre-ordered a vehicle through Sixt's Palma de Mallorca office and arranged our own insurance in advance. When we collected the car we were asked whether we wanted insurance and we declined. We were given a receipt and the counter clerk pointed out the service number and that €150 was being taken as a precaution in case the tank was not full on return. I booked a car with Sixt 2 weeks prior to my arrival in London. The pickup was booked for 11:00am on a Sunday morning. The other major rental car company offices were closed so this was the reason I used Sixt. Awful. From arriving and them demanding £300 deposit adittionally to the £150 I had paid. £1500 forced excess on indurance policy available. Tried to sell sand and ash dmage cover (WTF??) and they will try and spetrol station, but that's a complete lie as its half price at the petrol station. giving a dmaged vehicle which I am certain if we'd have not pointed out the damage prior to leaving. There is a great reason this company has earned so many poor reviews. We came home from our vacation to find my credit card had been ambushed by Sixt. Our second to the last day in Scotland, we left our hotel to find we had a flat tire. Their represantative directed us to a local tire company where there would be no charge. Tire company confirmed it was wear in the sidewall of the tire. Sixt's return specialist confirmed the car NO NEW DAMAGE. Didn't stop them from passing a $300+ charge to me… Read Full Review

I booked a car online from Sixt (Palma de Mallorca) in September 2014. I spoke to a Sixt employee by phone who confirmed that I did not need to pay anything on collection of the car. However, on collection of the car the attendant stated that I did not have any insurance and had to pay about 123 Euros for cover.
