“Dishonest company practice.”

The agent in Glasgow airport told me the car I rented through Travelocity wasn't ready. She offered an upgrade to get us on our way. I bought damage insurance through Travelocity. the agent lied to me telling me the insurance was not valid. I didn't know better at the time so I accepted Europcar's insurance and a much inflated price. “Beware - will lie and add additional costs to your rental!”

Had a car rented for me from Belfast international for a day trip. When collecting was asked for a credit card for incidentals and if the car was returned without fuel. Couldn't charge the card the car was booked with as the rental was pre-paid. Was told I had medium cover and would I like to upgrade to remove the excess - declined as it was only for a day and I wouldn't even be covering a hundred miles on roads I know well. “Unimpressed and overcharged”

We had booked an economy car through a third party called Argus and quoted £393.25 including insurance and GPS for the entirety of our stay. We arrived as scheduled at Perth International Airport, to be told the Europcar clerk, the rental wasn't with them. We then showed the only clerk the email who confirmed the booking. “Unauthorised charges after car returned”

We booked online to collect a car upon arrival in Nice. Booking process was successful. Our flight was delayed and there were huge queues to collect (with every company) and Europcar appeared more efficient, their staff were very pleasant and patient, and after long wait they upgraded us. Return process was well organised but some weeks after our return we found that Europcar had levied an additional unauthorised charge of over £80 to our credit card. It's cheaper for a reason! I bought the extra insurance, but they had a reason that it didn't cover the tiny (I have photos) little dent in the back, so I paid more. And now I'm receiving letters saying I owe even more! I won't pay because I DO NOT OWE but I'm going to have to waste a lot of time straightening it out. I'm not impressed with Europcar. My car broke down so Mercedes put me in touch with Europcar for a courtesy car. Car hire via EUROPCAR at Gran Canaria airport, November 2016. I paid 55.46 euros which I was assured was for fuel and would be cancelled when I returned the car full of fuel, which I did. However, the payment was not cancelled. I contacted Europcar. They failed to respond until I reminded them that I had emailed them; I then got a response. “Stolen deposit”

I rented a car with Interrent from Muscat airport on February. The person in charge told us that he wouldn't take any money from the deposit as the car was in perfect condition. However, I saw a few days ago that 141,79€ has been taken away. I’m very upset and surprised by this and very much need to get this money back. I rented a truck with Europcar in Holland a few weeks back and it was the worst truck Ive ever driven. Even worse was the staff renting it out to me. When I returned the truck, the name of my company was missing on the invoice, and the guy behind the bar was very frustrated I wanted him to correct this issue. Furthermore they charged me for diesel, while I filled it up just before returning the car. “Worst Car Hire Experience”

Pre paid for two days with rental cars. Arrived at airport at 00:50 to find Europecar closed. Stayed at hotel until they open at midday. Picked car up and was very very dirty. Not washed. Return the car 11hrs past due time at 11:20pm on 28 feb. Counter was closed even tho hours were suppose to be until midnight. Then Europe car charged my card for a return date of 1 Mar with additional $278. So total cost of the car for a 3 day hire was over $600. Nearly double what I pre paid. I made a reservation three months in advance for a rental car in Cancun, Mexico. I was referred to them thru Travelocity so I felt confident that they were a legitimate company. We arrived at the rental car company and waited 2 hours in line in an UN AIR CONDITIONED building to get our car. Europcar london city airport worst services ever by the male againt at the location, asked for the manager but advice he's at the back and can't come at the front. Asked for the contact number and name for the manger and was give a mobile number which the manager don't ever answer. What a joke off a management, who doesn't even come on the phone. I rented a small Lancia from Europcar last September for 16 days while my wife and I were on holiday in Sicily. The rental was satisfactory and there were no incidents or problems. We returned the car to Palermo airport where it was inspected by a Europcar agent and the return acknowledgement form was signed without any problems being indicated. The alternative would be to buy their CDW waiver excess insurance - bribe them to play nice.
Its the same story across Europe, it would not surprise me if they systematically encourage their branches to operate like this.
Definitely not a 21st century company!

I wish I had read these reviews before. I had used Europcar once before in Faro, Algarve, and and bought all their insurance packages. It was costly, but they were the only company open to receive late night flights. I've used other hire companies in the Algarve since and not bought their insurance packages and not had a problem. I phoned them just to make sure there weren't any extra charges. The woman on the phone at Europcar assured me three times that the quoted price was all I would have to pay. When I went to pick up the car they charged me a 16 pound drop off fee. My deposit after two weeks still hasn't been returned. Who needs the grief… Read Full Review

Before 2 months, I also had a problem with the deposit. But apparently, the issue was with my bank. After talking with the bank's representative, the deposit was released in 3 working days.
