I rented the car in Italy from Milan on 5/17/2016 and returned it in Rome on 5/18/2016. I picked the car from an indoor garage at the Airport. And I bought the medium damage and collision insurance. I did not or could not see any damage other than described on the invoice and I had never hit anything at all, and I parked the car inside the private lot of my friend's place. “Biggest rip off artists in the country”

MY SON HIRED A CAR FROM HEATHROW AIRPORT WHICH HE BOOKED ONLINE. hE EXPECTED TO BE CHARGED £15.00 PER DAY FOR THE ONE WEEK RENTAL. WHEN HE COLLECTED THE CAR,THE BOOKING CLERK SAID HE WOULD NOT BE INSURED UNLESS HE PAID AN ADDITIONAL £20.00 A DAY TO AVOID PAYING FOR ANY DAMAGE WHICH COULD HAPPEN. “Worst experience ”

Europcar was a deal with Easyjet that I decided to take for £109. I go to Spain several times a year and hire a car and this was my first experience of this company. The insurance was either basic (nothing much) or 20 euros or 27 euros per day. For a ten day trip - this was expensive and I decided not to take the insurance. “First class service at Marrakech airport”

I couldn't fault Europcar at Marrakech airport. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. The price was good, the car was very reliable and it was what I had asked for. I was never pressured into taking extra insurance. I had to put down a large deposit but it was returned straight away once I had returned the car in the same condition, with a full tank of fuel. “Billed me for the package that I clearly declined”

They always tried to sell me some insurance package which is ridiculously overpriced. I insured myself against everything elsewhere and so did not need any extras (such as reduced excess, windscreen or tyres protection cover or total "peace of mind" cover, roadside assistance etc). Once I clearly declined the offer of one of such packages just to find out later that I apparently was billed extra £32 AFTER the hire has been already completed. Booked on line attractive rates, upon collection the price went 5 times! Basically the online booking is a "catch" never book with Europcar in Edinburgh! The company policy is steeling; hence staff are trained on how to rip people off, certainly not a decent trusted organization. I wouldn't recommend nor rent a car from Europcar ever in my entire life. Complainte to duty manager at Edinburgh airport, she was apologetic BUT no solution. “Breakdown assistance charge”

I try and avoid this company. In the last 4 hirings, I was supplied with a car with only half a tank of fuel (while the policy was full to full) I have been charged in Inverness, Scotland for returning the car to a different location (which I did not), then in Cannes in February, I was charged for 2 extra drivers when there was only one, then in Cannes last week I arrived to be told that breakdown assistance was not included. We had a terrible experience with Europe-cars, We have been travailing for many years in many countries and have always use other rental companies and never ever had problem. Europe-cars in Toulouse have to be the rudest most incompetent car rental people in the world. Booked car for a certain pickup time told to come back in four to five hours with "your car maybe ready then, se are busy!". Then told we could not have the car we wanted. we got home to see an extra 400 pound had been taken off our account and there was absolutely nothing we could do about it, they claimed the car had been damaged in some way yet there was absolutely no damage whatsoever and the man that inspected the car confirmed that there was no damage,yet we still got charged. absolutely fuming and would never suggest this place to anybody. “Europcar is the terrible”

In the last several years Europcar became very unreliable company. On business trip to Frankfurt I booked with them Audi A5, four seats. When three of us came in the airport pick up the car they gave us BMW Z4, two seat convertible. On my question “how can we fit three people in the car? They said: “we can provide you with the class of car you have ordered or “similar”. And guy told me: “if you don’t want BMW Z4 I can cancel your reservation”. Returned car to car park the attendant checked it over and said everything was OK and did I have any complaints about the car. Next thing they took £75 plus admin for a scuff on the wheel capwhich wasn't there when it was checked. I challenged them and was told verbal conversations are not taken into account, I even described the attendant but made no difference. I was stupid enough to agree to pay for courtesy car hire during my renewal of car insurance. I then had someone drive into my car, hence ended up with a Europcar. First of all I had a puncture, followed their procedure, they sent me to a specific garage where I had to have a new tyre (even though this wasn't needed) Wasted 4 hours of works time, to sort it out only to have a letter off Gordon Slater Solutions alleging that I'd had an accident. Hired a car from Europcar for 6 days. Which was not the car that was booked. due to the car being so bad I only traveled 28 miles. I had the paperwork that stated the mileage when the car was collected. Which was also a bad experience. I was also charged an extra £400 for 4,0000 miles? I had supposedly done, although I wasn't charged per mile. I had only gone from Gloucester to Cardiff and back. Eventually I got a refund as the mileage had been incorrectly read. Luckily this person owned up for the mistake.........unlike others. Really bad news

Hired a vehicle which was delivered and all went well! The vehicle needed to be collected from a residential address in Glasgow the following day. This did not happen and the driver then had to call the airport office spoke to a female staff member who was rude to him. THEY FILLED THE DAMAGE AFTER I HAVE SIGHED THE RETURN PAPER WORK. When I returned the car, I have sighed the page they presented to me. There was no writing except for hand written dates of start/end of rental. so I sighed it and off they went with the car. Despite buying the super cover when booking the car hire online and despite the person at the europe car desk knowing and stating that I already had additional cover and then not explaining any costs or terms it transpires I was billed for £389.92 for 14 days additional cover. “complacent and uncaring service”

Europcar is popular because they are large and work at airports and cities with airlines like Easyjet and other companies and so have a ready market. We have found their disinterested attitude very annoying, particularly in Lisbon. We rarely get the car type that we booked. Last time the car supplied (Fiat 500) was more like a slow noisy bus than the small Peugot that we ordered. Not good for narrow cobbled streets and small country lanes.
