Never, never, never use this company! Unfortunately only found out about their practise of assuring customers any small marks on the vehicle are nothing to worry about, pointing out a single small damage (Noted as 10mm to 200mm) to put you off the scent thinking they have noted every little mark. NOT SO! We recently rented an Audi A4 from Hobart airport. The small scrape was noted as front left bumper - We were told that any small marks were nothing to worry about - "Anything under the size of a...

I made an online booking to hire the car. When I went to pick up the car, They told me they could not rent me the car because I lived at my address for less than 12 months and that my card would not be charged. However, my card was still charged. I asked for a refund. I was told it was not Europcar fault. They would offer me a refund but also applies a cancellation fee of £45. It is just daylight robbery. Do not rent from them....

First the vehicle was first class and up to expectation. My only complaint was that dispite haveing documents to confirm that payment had been payed in full,I told that I had an agreement to pay for a full tank of fuel total 135 euro.I no option but to pay,but I did protest strongly. On return of the vehicle I still felt that this payment was a rip off.I argued my point in the office, and was finaly charged 89 euro which was still more than the 4-10ths of a tank that I used.In the past I received the...

Reserved a car for forthcoming vacation in England. They asked us to pre-pay the total amount. It was promptly charged to the credit card. Called later to add a Navigation system. But wait...."you will have to cancel your car and make a fresh booking!". To simply add a GPS rental????? Then as the story unfolded.....the prior charge about $350 US will not be credited for 11 days (even though the booking was)! The actual rental experience will be in 2 months! Why is it necessary to pre-pay one booking...

We hired our car using the internet. Whilst happy with the car I was given I was very disappointed with the additional airport fee. Yes of course, it was written that way in the contract but who expects to be nailed an extra 25% to pick up from the airport? I could have taken a cab to another venue for less than $20 had I known the fee. Thanks for the sneaky honesty Europcar, never again will I use your service. Cheats....

I hired a Vauxhall Meriva on the 17th April from the Sheffield rental station for 2 days as my car had broken down and I needed transport to get to work and take my kids to school. I contacted Europcar for a quote and was happy with £52 for the 2 days. I arranged for the car to be dropped off at my home address at 6pm on Tuesday the 17th and to be collected on Thursday the 19th at 6pm – perfect. In the 2 days I drove around 30 odd miles and then filled the tank up (to above the full level) before...

We rented our car through the rental broker AutoEurope for pickup at Schiphol, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We ordered a wagon and were promised a Volvo V50 wagon or similar. After reading a number of reviews about Europcar I was very leery about what we would get. We arrived at the rental counter in the airport and were greeted by a very nice young lady. We did the paperwork and were directed to the garage where the car was waiting. Another really nice employee greeted us and we asked if he thought...

The staff were excellent when we picked up the car at Hobart, Tasmania. They advised us to go over the car to check for scratches - which of course we did. When I returned to the counter and advised of several scratches on the car they said I didn't have to be annul however I made them note them down just in case. We used the car for 2 weeks on bitumen roads only and as we are very careful with our own cars treated this with with even more respect than our own cars. Upon returning the car when I...

The staff are very friendly on arrival but as soon as you have a problem don't cross them, they're dreadful & very unhelpful. The cars are very basic indeed,we were allocated a Kia Piccanto which had nearly 60,000 miles on the clock, when we started to pick up problems with it a day into the hire we were told that the car was given to us in "pristine condition" & if there were any problems we would have to sort them out or pay the 350 Euro excess! Booked a small car over the phone for a 2 day hire. Got a great deal on price and it included delivery and pick up of the car - which is great for me, as I have a little girl. The man on the phone was helpful and friendly and didn't pressure me to buy any extra insurance - so just had the standard CDW. The branch phoned me on the delivery day to let me know the car was coming early and to check I was in. Unfortunately I missed the call and was in the shower when it arrived. The same as most other reviews here. 94 Euros charged for a not quite full tank of fuel in the most basic Fiat Panda. Pressure-selling of all sorts of extra insurances at the pick-up desk. Where to start...... I chose Europcar due to their competitive pricing - to be collected and returned at Kerry Airport. I booked it under my husband's name and he was to be the sole driver. On arrival at Kerry we were told to pay for the CDW excess cover (not asked if we wanted it!). The wait to get a car was awful because they had a new system and the operator did not know how to use it, it took over an hour from start to driving off. I returned the car fully fuelled and I am still waiting for my refund which at 105 Euros is not a small amount of money. Once again they blame the new system but this is still ongoing and nobody is responding to them. I would strongly advise people to avoid Europcar at all costs....

We'll NEVER rent a car with Europcar again. One star is even too much!!Because of the large group we travelled with, we needed 3 cars at 3 different times. Twice at the Sydney Australian airport, once at the airport in Hobart Tasmania. Each time we had them for a week, so it's not that they didn't make money of us. When it comes to product quality and customer care from a global company, it probably doesn’t get much worse than this.
