“dont get caught”

Hired a 5 seater, wound up with a 4, also charged 21 euros airport tax, 61 euros for a tank of petrol, the car at best would fill with 25 euros. Fuel gauge went to last bar so put 6 euros in and it half filled!!! this was a citroen c1, sounds like a hair dryer. Only plus side is its great on fuel. “Tantamount to theft!”

I rented a car for 1 week between 10-17 January 2015 from Bristol Airport. My first problem was when I went and queued at the counter. “What constitutes a full tank?”

Here's the rub... I hire a car from Standsted Airport with no pre-hire check summary and the tank is only 7/8 full. So I get to my destination in Hamilton (one way hire) and fill up to the same level. When I get my credit card bill, there's an extra £40 on my 'invoice'. They charged me for 11 litres of fuel at £2.80 a litre. I'm still waiting on a call from a manager.... Won't be holding my breath. This is pretty much what has happened to me in Bristol only I took the trouble to fill it up within 3-4 miles of the airport and they've charged me 6 litres at £2.31 per litre! It's not the amount it's the principle! Do they have some kind of scheme running?

“Good Company for car rental but beware of what you...”

I usually use Europcar for one way airport rentals from Derby to Heathrow and the return journey after our vacation. I don't usually have a problem as I normally read the fine print careful before signing anything. On this rental I prepaid for a 7 seater or similar for both legs of the journey at a base price of 90 GBP for each leg. “ Dirty Car”

we were delivered a Vauxhall Astra after our own car had been damaged in an accident. The car was dirty on reciept. We were told to inspect the car for for damage despite it being both dirty and dark.The fuel level was not full but the operative claimed it was when he left the depot? We hired a vehicle From Europcar at Basel airport on 29 December. After a few miles on the auto route we found that the screen washers weren't working. Road conditions weren't good, it was snowing and this was settling on the outside lane of the motorway, which is unusual in Switzerland. “Cheap but be careful”

I use Europcar because the price is so cheap, especially if you book through a third party comparison site. I've rented a few times and not had any issues. The latest car I rented had quite a bit of damage. All four rims were scraped, there was front bumper damage, a cracked wing mirror and some other minor damage. “Rent cheap but regret it”

To save you the trouble of reading this review, just don't book with this company. If you are interested: Booked through a third party and go an excellent rate, but that's where it ended. Reservation staff at Heathrow added insurance and recovery despite me explaining that I didn't need them, and handed over my contract saying that the only charge to my card would be the refundable deposit. Arrived at Heathrow Europe car coach pick up point at 10.45pm on a cold December night and waited well over 30 minutes for a minibus to arrive. Europcar Thessaloniki, Greece: Unlike the other car rental companies, Europcar is reached by shuttle. We needed to wait for the other people who had booked with Europcar. Another downside of the shuttle is that the people that we waited for, got out first and got served first. So all together a bit of a delay in starting our vacation. “Prepaid car, got hit with 200% more fees upon return”

Booked a Hyundai i20 for a trip from Brisbane to Sydney, Australia, through RentalCars. The car was fine, and we picked it up and returned it without incident, full of gas. We had an appalling experience with Europcar Greece with a vehicle booked through Holiday Autos. I prepaid by internet a car in Roma's airport Fiumiccino,took a shuttle to Goldcar's location quite far away(all others firm are located in the airport) They asked for my voucher, my passport , driving licence and credit car. Customer's service of Rentalcar ( I dealt three them by internet) contacted me after I explained the troubles I encountered with Europcar and Goldcar Roma, and they proposed to refund me, what is pretty fair. Good to know.

“Extra charges taken without ANY notification!”

That was the first time we had a problem with Europcar. We rented a car in Antwerp, Belgium, and returned it to the parking slot before the opening hours. Only four days after they charged us almost double for a presumable damage we caused! When asked them to show me the pictures of the damage (with the date of our return on it), they did not react. I booked a car through rentalcars.com and paid in full. On arriving at airport europcar said they needed more information from rentalcars.com (despite saying they get most of their booking from them). They said they would temporarily charge me a full rental and refund it once I got a voucher' from rentalcars.com. I sent them the voucher, about 2 hours after hiring the car. “Be aware if renting in Dublin”

I travel to Ireland on business often.When you travel around Dublin you use the M50.There is an electronic Toll system , e flow that allows you to pay the 2.55 GBP within 24 hours.Every other rental company I have used in Ireland pays that toll and adds it on to your credit card. Eurocar didn't mention anything about this and about 3 months later I received a traffic violation for not paying the 2.55 fee AND a 38.55 administration fee from Europcar for having to pay the toll " to avoid further… Read Full Review

Right well I hire a car every month to take my partner to her family's house in Birmingham we usually use avis and there normally really good but they had no cars.
