Ordered a ford fiesta 1.4 automatic Problems: 1. Ordered automatic, said on form comments "MUST be automatic", phoned up the day before and asked if it is definitely an automatic, they said YES car was MANUAL 2. Downgraded me to a smaller car, nissan pixo but said it was the same engine size, it isn't 3. “STAY AWAY FROM EUROPCAR”

The sales staff are trained to overcharge you , so that they can get a commission from you. They will tell you that you need a bigger car ! If you are overweight - they will say you need a bigger car ! They add charges onto your quote - gaurenteed price is rubbish… Read Full Review

I booked a car in May 2014 to pick up in Sept at Heathrow for 10 days . I was quoted 142 pounds ( $263 AUD ) - GAURENTEED PRICE ! (i have confirmation email to prove it ) When i went to pick it up, I was told that the car i booked wasnt available and that i was to have a bigger car, for an extra 15 pounds. So an extra 15 pounds didnt bother me. I felt pressured and being stuck where i was , i had to take it. “Horrible experience with Europcar in Scotland”

reserved a compact car to be picked up at Edinbrugh airport and returned 5 days later at Glasgow airport. I included zero deductible. Pre paid $364 a week before picking up rental car. When my wife and I arrived at the Europcar counter for pick up Europcar representative asked how much luggage we had (3 pieces) and she remarked I was a big guy. i urge everyone to be vigilant as this is a tactic they are trained in to squeeze as much money from you as possible.

We have just returned from a holiday to Ireland. I booked a car a few days before i left and was happy with the quote i received for a Ford Mondeo or Similar car. (5 day hire for £76) On arrival at the reception desk I was told if i refused to pay for extra insurance at 20 Euro’s a day my only other option would be to have 1,600 Euros charged to my debit card as a security despot. seems a common thing by Europcar .
My original quote ( gaurenteed price ) blew out from $263 australian dollars to $617 because my booked car wasnt there and i HAD TO HAVE a bigger car.
I will never ever deal with Europcar again and will recommend as many people as possible to go elsewhere.

I recently returned a car to Europecar in spain. The person came out to check for damage and after literally 15 minutes(normally hertz takes about 30 seconds) they showed me a Minor scuff at the lower bottom bumper. I argued that this must have been done before as we had not had any accident or incident. The guy sharply told me I must pay €280 plus a €60 "admin" fee. I expressed my point again. “Charges for returning car early”

Do not use we had a quote for £368 pounds for 28 days greturned car day early because it was no longer needed only to find they had taken £475 out of my account there reason i lost my discount on the original 28 days because i was a day early !!!!! Had serious issues with Europcar Cyprus - they offered a car that was NOT similar to the one booked, said that there is nothing else available, not even manual option. Later they changed their mind, told us that they had offered a manual one. When clearing this out by email, they AGAIN changed their minds, telling that there wasn't a manual car available. same thing happened to me at europcar limassol, downgraded to a smaller, damaged car because the car I booked had wrong transmission. Loads of problems - Absolutely terrible

We rented a car from Europcar at Malaga airport and returned it without a scratch a week later. We had a very early flight so dropped off the keys in the drop box as requested as the Europcar office was closed. What a surprise to see a charge for almost €300 on our credit card statement for damages that were not there. Despite repeated attempts to contact Europcar Spain they would not engage with us. Beware of these (Europcar)! I rented a car at the airport in Cork and asked if I could return the car at any time, I said yes (had a drop box for the keys). The deposited at 3am. leaving the vehicle in your parking space, although he could deliver until 9:00 a.m.. that day. “Terrible Customer Service”

We rented a VW Golf at Zurich Airport without any problems, the car was fairly new with very few miles on it. While driving in Northern Italy we had a flat tire. The spare was one of those temporary tires designed to drive 30 miles or less. We changed the tire without any problem and went on to our hotel. We called the number on the key tag. I hired a car from Belfast City airport. I agreed to the excess waiver, but after I returned back to England they sent me a copy of the invoice. They had also charged me £5 per day for a vehicle upgrade that I had not been asked if I wanted or I had not asked for. Dishonesty is rife, from failing to allow you the level of service you are entitled to under their prestige scheme to being charged £1000 for a small mark on a car. “Dishonest Company”

When we rented the car they would not allow us to decline the damage waiver without a written letter from our insurance company (which we did not have since we have never been asked for this before). I rented a car for 8 weeks from Manchester airport. To cut a very long story short. They delivered me a car with less than a full tank of fuel, charged me 1.36. GBP per day for license fee.
