“Seen cleaner rubbish carts.”

Received a Fiat 500X as a hire car while my motability car was in for repair. Before I could use it I had to get rid of a dirty coffee mug that was rolling around in the rear nearside footwell and half a rotten banana from the driver side rear footwell. The exterior of the car was dirty but they did leave me a printed note apologising for the condition of the outside - their pressure washer wasn't working but assuring me the interior had been cleaned. “RIPPED OFF”

Hired a car at Newquay Airport booking online for £133.92, in long queue to get to booking desk. Asked for an extra day, around £20. First attempt charged for roadside assistance on the form, form returned. 2nd form subsequently omitted the extra day but added an excess at £19 a day which I did not spot in the queue frustrations. Hired a car from Putney Bridge for 10 days from the off there office stank of mold and mildew,, the wait to collect was long people before us we're huffing and puffing, one guy had to cancel one meeting whilst in the que. our car goes back tomorrow with no damage at all and a full tank of petrol but the whole 10 days we've had the car it stank of petrol we bought air freshener but this did not help our luggage has had to be washed as the smell is in our clothes. “Europcar over chraged”

I rented a car from them in Salalah airport, Oman. The agreement was for 3 days but they charged me for 4 days. Their reason was I returned the car more than 30 mins after it was due for return. The form I received from them clearly mentioned time out 4pm and time in 5pm yet they insisted their policy is 29 minutes grace period. I have always rented from them be it from UAE or Oman. Rented a car from Edinburgh Waverly and when arrived was told that the Fiat 500 I had selected was not safe for a 'lady' driving on the highways as its a 'city car' and had a really small gas tank - man insisted I'd be scared to run out of gas and pressured me into a larger car, at a higher cost. “Appalling service. Poor maintenance”

Disgusting service. Car hired for 3 days was only available for 3 hours. STOP message came on about 5 km after leaving Orly airport. Managed to get to cusp met and arranged for tow truck. Concluded lack of coolant, no leak do must have been dispatched like that. Car taken away but did not get promised call from Europcar. Rented a car a few weeks ago, and not only I suffered a super slow service, but also we had some issues with the booking. Apparently they don't like bookings through third party resellers, and didn't accept our full (all covered) insurance, claiming that we would have to pay if there was any issue with the car, and then ask for a payback to the third party company. I booked a Fiat 500 through Easyjet who use Europcar as a partner for holiday and flight bookings. The flight and car were booked in February 2016 for a holiday to Pompeii in late June 2016. I booked online the smallest car possible, a small Fiat,for 3 day hire from the Bath branch. I arrived half an hour early to find several others collecting and returning cars. Both the girls behind the desk were extremely polite,helpful and very patient especially with 2 ladies who were not sure about several aspects of the hire due to limited English on their part . I rang this company and booked a car over the phone.The young girl went through all the info and gave me a price what i was happy with. She asked why i needed the car to which i said i am starting a new job and need to collect my company car from Leeds. She asked if we were flying into stansted or do we live local. I hired the rental car at Victoria station and drive to Manchester city. After I got home I receive a London Congestion Charging Penalty notice. As a rental car company and the car is in the congestion zone the company should registered it for the congestion charge. Made a booking through the Ryanair website for car hire from London Stansted. Collection on 10th June and return on 12th June. After waiting an hour to be served I asked the people waiting around me how long they had been waiting. 11 people said over an hour. One poor group had been waiting just under 2 hours. Europcar experience, Absolutely dire, avoid. My experience with Europcar (Larnaca Airport) Cyprus. Ended up with the wrong car. Booked a Ford Fiesta, ended up with a rubbish Kia. Beware of the deposit scheme. They will ask for 500 euros on your card as a refundable deposit. The problem is that they keep the transaction fees so you end up with less than 500 euros returned to your card even if you return the car exactly as you found it… Read Full Review

I rented the car in Italy from Milan on 5/17/2016 and returned it in Rome on 5/18/2016. I picked the car from an indoor garage at the Airport. And I bought the medium damage and collision insurance. I did not or could not see any damage other than described on the invoice and I had never hit anything at all, and I parked the car inside the private lot of my friend's place. MY SON HIRED A CAR FROM HEATHROW AIRPORT WHICH HE BOOKED ONLINE. hE EXPECTED TO BE CHARGED £15.00 PER DAY FOR THE ONE WEEK RENTAL. Europcar was a deal with Easyjet that I decided to take for £109. I go to Spain several times a year and hire a car and this was my first experience of this company. The insurance was either basic (nothing much) or 20 euros or 27 euros per day. For a ten day trip - this was expensive and I decided not to take the insurance. I couldn't fault Europcar at Marrakech airport. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. The price was good, the car was very reliable and it was what I had asked for. I was never pressured into taking extra insurance. I had to put down a large deposit but it was returned straight away once I had returned the car in the same condition, with a full tank of fuel. “Billed me for the package that I clearly declined”

They always tried to sell me some insurance package which is ridiculously overpriced. I insured myself against everything elsewhere and so did not need any extras (such as reduced excess, windscreen or tyres protection cover or total "peace of mind" cover, roadside assistance etc). Once I clearly declined the offer of one of such packages just to find out later that I apparently was billed extra £32 AFTER the hire has been already completed.
