After only using my suitcase a few times a year, the outside zip on the large pocket on the front of the case is completley broken,so now the pocket flaps open! The other day, I filled my suitcase ready to use and the handle was completly stuck/broken! I then had the nightmare job of changing cases at the last minute(it was a good job that I had another larger case to use, otherwise I don't know what I would have done!). “Terrible performance yet top dollar prices”

I bought 2 Samsonite suitcases about 6 years ago and have done very little travelling, twice a year max on the smaller case and less by far on the larger one. The first case broke on it's second outing, the zip broke. It was repaired and since has been OK but I've only used it twice. The smaller case has had more usage but again not a lot, and has just come back from a Virgin flight. The outer casing was cracked in two places and the plastic trim on the front has gone missing leaving 3 nails... (read more)

I brought a Samsonite hard shell, combination lock at top, key locks at the side, 4 wheels, retractable pulley suitcase in 2002, as an international flight attendant. I flew for 4 years, and then took a ground job. My case has been everywhere and experienced everything, and is still going. Having read these reviews, I felt compelled to write about my experience, which has been all good. “Guaranteed for life”

I had a samsonite trolly laptop bag for 6 years before the wheels wore out. I sent it back and paid about £30 to have them replaced. The replacements only lasted about a year, but I love this bag so sent it for repair again. They sent me a new bag at no charge. Brilliant service (read more)

I'm after a garment bag and saw that Samsonite have one that could well be of interest (and it was cheaper than the Tumi alternative). I've sent 3 emails to Samsonite's UK customer service team over the last 10 days or so asking for some additional information and have not had a response. If that's the level of service they offer I don't want to do business with them and so am off to buy the Tumi option :) (read more)
“Expensive Junk”

I bough the hardcase spinner 9 months ago and used in for about 4 international flights. While walking to the checkin counter a fellow traveler told me that a wheel has come of the suitcase. I went to a couple of samsonite dealers and all told me to contact the repair centres in Sydney which is 150 kms away fro where I live. when I called the first thing they suggested was airline damage. My husband and I each bought a large Samsonite suitcase, deciding that we would finally spring for a good brand of luggage. On our very first trip, the handle on my husband's suitcase broke loose when he was carrying it out to the car. On the same trip, the zipper pull tabs (which had been secured with a luggage lock) completely broke off when handled by the airline - only one of the two slider thingys that secure the zipper remained. Hello, I have bought a Samsonite luggage bag few days back. Its really giving me a good service from the first. I use it without taking any special care of it. But still it is in a good condition as it was in the beginning. I have even thought of gifting a similar bag to my friend in her marriage. Samsonite products are really very good and long lasting. I should suggest everyone especial to those regular travelers to use Samsonite bags to experience the difference. (read more)
“Absolute garbage”

As a frequent traveller, I treated myself to what I thought would be a lovely case that would last me a long time. The hard shell spinner case cracked on it's second trip. The company advised that it must have been e fault of the baggage handlers at the airline and I agreed and had it repaired independently. “Waste of Money”

We just bought two Samsonite hard cover suitcases with the middle combination lock. One of the combination locks has jammed shut with the first use of the suitcase with all the clothes inside so it looks like we will have to break the lock to get our stuff out. The case also only has a handle on the side which makes the transition between pulling and carrying difficult ie. just lifting it into trains etc. We bought these suitcaes as we thought they would be quality products as they were... Expect a wait time of at least 30 minutes for a call. Terrible customer service. When I finally connected, they did not recognize my product. Everything from them is made in China, so there help centers are oblivious. Damaris Flores is a terrible customer service representative. Every time I write an email, I get the same generic response without her reading it. The product is garbage and overpriced. The wheel fell off after the first use. (read more)
“Samsonite warranty in UAE is joke”

Samsonite product warranty is joke. The stores in UAE sell saying it is 100% covered by warranty. The card says it is limited warranty. No one from sales to service has info when asked as to what the limited warranty covers. Each sales person in each store has different version. Recently Samsonite did not fix my kick guard for a rolling tote saying they do not have part and is not covered by warranty. The bag has 10 year limited warrantyy and is only 2 year old. Samsonite is overrated, over priced piece of JUNK.It's pirated Chinese copies outlast it. How are they still in business is beyond me. One star rating for this company is one star too many. I wish i had read these reviews before i bought my luggage. Don't buy it, if you have already bought it - sale it through craigslist and recover some money. I have never disliked a company this much. After travelling for 2 years with my old hardshell Samsonite it was time to "retire it" and I went for a Samsonite cubelite- one of the mlst expensive ones. Sedusced by the 4 wheel handleability, the light weight and the assurancethet it would be the best on the market and would withstand anything. I've listened to my boss deal with samsonite head office (aust) off and on for the last 3 weeks. In a nut shell the warranty is a joke. The customer service has been not poor..... worse than poor .... their message has been inconsistant, the contact person has been rude, snide and even antagonising. Cabin-size Cosmolite; paid over $300. When load is light or empty, handle works fine. When 3 Kgs. or so are added (normal load, not overloaded), handle travels from position 2 to 3 or 4, making it dangerous to handle. I had the suitcase drop on my foot, and extend alone on mechanic stairs. A friend of mine has the same model, and complains of the same flaw. We purchased a Samsonite suitcase while in the US on vacation and on our first trip back to the UK we found on arrival that the base was hanging on by a single tiny screw. On closer inspection the remaining screws protruded only 2 mm from the case and would explain why the base was not sturdy and detached so easily. I have just found a crack in the 4th suitcase in as many years! I am SO sick of having to send them in at MY cost and getting an inferior replacement, that I am not going to bother! I bought one originally thinking "if I pay more I will get better quality" NOT in this case! The wheels seized up, the handles break and last but not least, every single one of them has cracked! What the point of life time warranty when they only warrant locks and wheels.. the super impact proof ad is just so deceiving !!! mine was crack and after a few throw by the airline operators...Do samsonite expect the luggage operators at the airport to treat this so expensive luggage with gentle care?? 1.0 stars dissapointing April 2, 2012 After not even 6 months since I've purchased Samsonite Dura-lite Hardside 25" Hardside Wheeled Luggage and making only 3 European trips, my suitcase broke. I didn't only lose one piece of plastic located on the bottom of the suitcase, but also the plastic near it cracked. For such a extremely expensive luggage, I would expect greater durability. My experience is with the Medium size Samsonite Duralite 4 spinner wheeled luggage. I have used it once. Australia to HK then London Paris and return to Sydney and then domestic flights. The plastice panel near the base was torn on this trip and the zip damaged such that when i packed it for a second journey the zip simply came apart as I left for the airport. It was necessary to use another smaller case at the departure, and then buy an addiitonal one while overseas. This was expensive and very inconvenient. The local Samsonite rep has assessed the case and finds nothing wrong with the zip. It is necessary for me to arrange to return it to Samsonite Melbourne if I want to take the issue further. Its not a good experience and at this stage i would never buy another Samsonite or recommend anyone else buy one either.

I bought a very expensive case with a lifetime guarantee. It broke so we sent it back and they very kindly replaced with a brand new one - brilliant so far! It broke again so we sent it back. Unfortunately their terms and conditions state that you must send in your receipt as proof of guarantee. Here is the problem - we already sent it in first time and did not get ot back! My samsonite pull handle came off checking in and proceeded to buy a new one after only few usage. Sticking with the brand I bought another samsonite and guess what the pull handle wasn't working only on the next day. Could not return the bag as I had a return flight the next day. I bought a samsonite case (softbag, ultralite model, mid-size, extendable) based on their reputation for reliability - my husband travels extensively and we needed to replace an older, very reliable antler bag which needed to be retired - hence a samsonite - it was all about reliability, it was light and i liked the looks. the samsonite has done two overseas trips and two trips in australia in 5 months, not very much work, and both zips are broken - one had never been used and just popped... Totally agree. I bought a Samsonite Lite and it survived one overseas trip over a 3 week period. The bag is now so badly scruffed it looks disgraceful. The inner zip broke rendering the storage useless. I have a Delsey suitcase which still looks good after 6 overseas trips!!!

Purchased a samsonite set of luggage from one of their own stores, metal on zip failed, clearly a design/metal fatigue fault, and received atrcocious after sales service, and a hollow warranty. Will never buy samsonite again. They do not act like an interantional company, who charge a premium for their products, when it comes to after sales service (read more)

I bought a Samsonite hard shell 4 wheel spinner case 4 years ago for £199. It carried a ten year warranty. On a trip this year one of the wheels came off and was lost as I was rushing for a ferry. I contacted the UK authorised repair centre and paid them to collect it to assess the repair. Not fair at all! It is just an example of unfair trade practice! A warranty covers the entire product whether it is sold at discount or even given away as a free gift and as such replacement means the entire unit!

Samsonite's 10 years warrenty is a lie. 10 year warrenty against manufacturing defects. Anything that happen during your travel is deemed mis-handling. So what is manufacturing defect? Why cover 10 years? They expect us to buy the luggage and keep it for 10 years and not use it?

Bought 2 samsonite bags on-line. Zip line went out of half of the stitches. it happen during my vacation time on the way back, so no way to use bag again :( i fix them with stepler from hotel reception to be able to bring home my stuff! I bought a Samsonite - Aeris Upright 78cm in August 2008. The tow handle snapped and came off, so it's become absolutely useless to travel with. And there is no way I can contact anybody to have it fixed... Great! It cost me more than the double than any similar suitcase, and it's unusable. (read more)

Will Samsonite honour their 10 year warranty if you do not keep a receipt that fades or gets thrown out? How can anyone keep a receipt for 10 years. For both of my Samsonite cases where the handles are damaged they won't, both over the phone and in writing. Samsonite Australia are just trying to further increase their profitability further by not honouring their warranty commitments. They use it as a selling point but do not follow through. (read more)

This case is expensive and not durable. After two flights one of the wheels broke off. I know luggage is treated badly and no care is taken to transport them but couldn't Samsonite have recessed the wheels so that they are protected from damage? I had another Samsonite case I bought a few years ago where the rubber rim on the wheels were torn off, again, after two flights. I want to trust their brand but they really do suck! DON'T BUY IT! I've now had two Samsonite cases which have cracked open during travel. Both were under 3 years old. Samsonite don't want to know about complaints. They just blame the airline and refer you back to them. I've travelled extensively and never experienced this with any other luggage brand. I have had a similar problem with the new Samsonite Cosmolite range. After the second flight one suitcase had a small puncture which was not noticed at the airport.
These suitcases supposedly resist hammer blows.
Samsonite say it is not repairable and they will not replace the virtually new suitcase costing in excess of £300.
E mails and letters get no response, even from their Registered Office.
I would not recommend anyone to but Samsonite Cosmolite luggage

Samsonite used to be a byword for quality workmanship and materials, reliability and above all high quality.
Sadly these days it is none of these things, instead the items are made from poor materials, with bad quality workmanship and terrible customer service.
I purchased 2 Samsonite bags - a wheeled holdall and a rucksack. Zips on both have broken within 2 years of reasonable but not heavy use. Despite the 10 year warranty, Samsonite refuse to fix the bags as I don't have the original...

My husband kindly bought me a new Samsonite Cordoba Duo Beauty case. It has not feet: an item for use in wet areas and it has no feet. Like most of their beauty bags. Useless. It gets wet when placed on a hotel bathroom floor, on the floor of a travel lounge when someone spills coffee - generally useless for purpose as a result of not having feet.

Independently from eachother my wife and I bought the same version of the Samsonite cosmolite spinner. Said to be "the lightest and most durable" Samsonite ever. Very friendly and speedy in shipping the order. However, the item was defective. Despite me contacting Frucon within a few hours of delivery, and 6 more prompting e-mails and 2 phoned calls (international!,) nothing - for over a month. I purchased a set of Samsonite X'ion 2 spinner cases in October 2009. The second time I used them, the handle at the bottom of the large case broke, the rivet holding it in place having previously come out at some point unknown. With a 10 year guarantee, no problem I thought, so returned it to samsonite but they initially refused to do anything, claiming it was 3rd party damage. Very impressed - bought an item in an outlet store (uk) and was impressed with the service. They seemed genuine in getting me the right case (they even recommended ones cheaper than what I said I could spend, because it was more suitable!).

Don't ever buy Samsonite bags on the internet! My wife bought me a backpack shortly before Christmas 2009. It started to come un-stitched in September 2010. The bag was returned (at a cost to myself) and they recognize the fault.
They are refusing to replace the bag without proof-of-purchase.
I included all original 3-year warranty paperwork but because it wasn't stamped and dated by the vendor my wife purchased from they are refusing to do anything.

Our brand new Samsonite(purchased in February 2010 based on previous good experience)has been used three times this year. On its second outing, two zips failed. My early emails to the company were responded to in an unknown foreign language. Despite a 'ten year guarantee' we had to pay to have it sent away and repaired. On its third outing a zip failed. (Spot the pattern). I am now being asked for a sum of money to have it repaired. Forget it...it's not worth it. An utterly substandard... (read more)

Bought a 69cm Spinner and at first glance loved it... felt strong and durable. On first use (ie 4 months after purchasing) I was amazed to find that this was not the case. The lock mechanism failed and one of the zipper's broke off. I have contacted Samsonite to get this replaced or even my suitcase replaced. I was simply met with "you need to contact these people", and it pretty much repeats itself from there. 7 weeks now and still haven't resolved any issues. BUYER BEWARE, DON'T BUY... (read more)
