Good Points: Amazing battery life. Excellent sound quality, even on Hi LP, where you can get a phenomenal amount of music on one disc. Very light but hard wearing. Better than MP3s for sound, reliability and battery life.
Bad Points: Mine came without a mains adaptor which is essential as you cannot record Hi Md without one so account for this in any purchase - you can get them from Amazon for £14. Not rechargeable so consider getting a cheap recharger (I got a good one from Amazon for £12 including batteries)
General comments: The Sony MZ-NH600 is a fantastic Portable MiniDisk Player - would recommend to anyone!

The Sony MZ-NH600 MiniDisc player is able to play Hi-MD and Atrac file formats, meaning it can get 12 - 13 albums on a standard MD. The software is pretty easy to use after the first few times. The player doesn't have a remote which is pretty annoying, and the screen is small with no back light. It's easy to navigate, and the sound quality is great providing you have decent headphones. The Sony MZ-NH600 has very high sound quality.
Backwards compatable with previous MD media.
Transfer music from PC at up to 100x speed.
Double the capacity of standard MDs in Hi-MD mode.
Has the ability to be used as an USB removable storage device using both Hi-MD (1Gb or Standard MD 80min = 300Mb) storage capacities.

Whilst the availability of the 1Gb discs may be a pain to some the popularity of the existing mini-discs is a big plus for the Sony MZ-NH600. Their cheapness also means that if a disc gets damaged you're not looking at an expense repair like the iPod HD drive unit. Battery life is truly amazing - I use rechargeable AA batteries and still acheive 20+ hours.
