“Terrible customer services”

My order arrived with significant damage. The box had been stood on, burst open with damaged and leaking contents. F&F were contacted and photos sent. Their customer service manager was dismissive of my complaint and refused to resolve the situation to my satisfaction.

“Very Poor Indeed”

The food was vastly overpriced and did not meet our families requirements. I certainly would not use them again. Better off at the local fishmongers.

“Very disappointing”

We received a present of your smoked fishes a couple of weeks before Christmas. The salmon paupiettes were delicious, but the salmon pates tasted off , even though well within the use by date and the smoked trout and tuna were inedible. We gave them to the dogs!

“better off going to lidl! poor and expensive AVOID”

i am sorry but we had the food last night and to say we were disappointed was an understatement! when it turned up and i unpacked it i was quite flabbergasted by how small the lobster was considering the cost. the beef wellingtons looked like they had been thrown together with out any - see my pictures. we decided to reserve judgment until we ate the food so we did last night lobster - hardly any meat in it - flavorless and extremely chewy and i followed the re heating instructions to a T absolutely disgraceful even if we'd been charged £30 in an actual restaurant for that i would have complained! the beef wellington again was disgusting i couldn't even eat it the meat - i really cant believe it was fillet was so chewy and had a really unpleasant flavour to it. i couldn't even eat it! the dauphinoise potatoes again we couldn't eat it was so salty and trust me i like a lot of salt but this was ridiculous!! the tarte tartin was at least just about edible - pretty non descript if i'm honest - i've made better! all in al la total total let down and waste of money! i've never been so disappointed in my life - i was so happy when i found your website and thought i'd be using you a lot but after this no way

Good morning,

it's Beth here, the Forman & Field Manager.

All of our food is hand made by our on site chefs, to order. It's something we pride ourselves upon, but this can mean that on rare occasion they fall victim to being human and mistakes can sometimes (though not often!) get made. In these instances we're always happy to hear from our customers, it's imperative we pass this feedback on to our chefs, and more importantly to make sure you're happy!

I really hope you made contact with us at the time so that we could get this resolved, I would always recommend contacting any company directly if you have an issue with something you've received - it's the best way to fix things!

“cheese hamper gift”

This was a birthday gift and it was disappointing. The chutney leaked, small amount of cheese and the date puddings had dismal instructions which ended up with melted lids! Waste of money.

“Stuffed ballotine goose”

We had placed a large order for Christmas 2019. One of the products was the ballotine of stuffed goose to feed 14/16. DON'T order it if you don't want to eat pork stuffing. There is precious little goose and was so embarrassed feeding our friends pork and apple stuffing, we had basically paid £130 for a roll of stuffing. I have sent numerous emails and quite expected a refund particularly as we had placed a very large order but after 5 emails I was offered £65 off my next order! I will NOT be ordering again and neither will the guests we had for dinner that night! Shame on you Forman and Field

“Disappointing food for the price”

I ordered smoked salmon paupiettes and game roulade for my Christmas lunch. The photo of the paupiette showed it stuffed with chunks of lobster and crab. Mine had nothing but pink mush inside. Similarly, the game roulade with orange and thyme stuffing was 95% stuffing and a tiny amount of game in the middle. Very poor for the price! I think they are trading on their name, not their reputation

“Food Glorious Food”

Ive always thought that fabulous food can only come from a good home kitchen or a fine restaurant. I've often looked down my nose at the thought of having prepared food delivered. Never will I do that again. I've now had four or five deliveries from Forman and Field and have never been disappointed. In fact, I think my wife may be tiring of hearing me proclaim "This is the best Beef Wellington/Smoked Salmon/Pate (and that's only so far) that I've ever tasted." Ever order has arrived well-packaged in sturdy containers and, despite the efforts of delivery men who seem to experience difficulty with the concept of 'This Way Up', has always arrived in near-perfect condition (the only 'victim' was a packet of delicious crackers which, due to an up/down transposition effected by a delivery oaf, was landed upon by a heavy jar of pate). My only 'issue' with this company relates to those crackers - or rather, their packaging. The package states that these crackers will keep for up to a week in ambient conditions. I defy ANYONE to keep these for more than a day. They are borderline addictive (and utterly delicious).

“Ruined my Christmas ”

I made my Christmas order in October 2018. It never showed up. No explanation from Customer Services except “be confident, it’s coming”. Then they went home for Christmas. I complained to a man on his Twitter account. He wrote that they had “lost” my order. Now I’ve read the reviews of F&F on Google Review and Facebook I realise that they have been messing up delivery logistics for years and there are a lot of unhappy customers. It’s a shame, most of the products are good, but don’t order if you are time/date dependent as the delivery may be late or never appear.

“Absolutely useless ”

I paid extra to have a London smoked salmon delivered to my sister in law, it was ordered on 11/11/18 and should have been delivered on the 22/11/18. I rang my sister-in-law to asked if the salmon had arrived to be told it had not. Emailed Forman & Fields and got a feeble text off Mr Field saying some orders had gone astray,and I would get my money back,not good enough. And after reading other reviews realise this is not unusual.This is no way to run a company they have no excuse for poor service. They do not value customers and when I asked for compensation in the form of the salmon I ordered to be delivered for free. Was told we are only a small company and I could have a small sample for free. This company is charging customers extortionate amounts for a quality service They Don't get!!!!!!

“If you get what you ordered: great!”

An order for over £500 placed in good time for delivery on 27/12/12, obviously fell by the wayside in the pre-Christmas rush. Products were substituted (London cure for gin & tonic salmon, two of the four cheeses), one packet of cep covered wild salmon fillet had this on the label, but the cellophane seal had been removed and the contents, which had leaked, seem to have been black cod in miso sauce. The three 1kg fillets of beef were delivered frozen, and in Forman & Son's supplier's packaging (J Williams & Company), and untrimmed (not what you would expect from the illustration in the catalogue/website). One of the cheese had a use-by date of 27/12/12 (when the delivery was booked/arrived). Pointing out these problems at the same time as paying, we were promised that the shortcomings would be investigated. Despite a follow-up email, and in early March a letter sent individually (by Royal Mail) to the managing director, commercial director and sales person, have been ignored. When we ordered in December 2008, we paid twice, and this problem took 15 months to sort out, eventually resulting in a refund, and a complimentary packet of London cure smoked salmon.

“This site offers fantastic food but quite expensively...”

This site offers fantastic food but quite expensively priced. You don't mind that if the service and other aspects all meet the same standard but, at busy times, such as now (Christmas) they struggle. The website has major problems particularly in recognising you even when you have set yourself up as a registered user. Contacting Forman & Field either by email or telephone is difficult in that they do not answer their phones promptly, if at all, and emails do not also get a response. Understandably they are clearly busy at peak times but probably need to consider how to staff this appropriately so that customers are not left without assistance or response.

Probably a good niche supplier for those who want to buy high quality goods for delivery in the London area but anything further than that seems to be problematic and they are not geared up to it. I think there are probably other, better, suppliers that can do this better.

“Forman & Field has every type of food you can imagine...”

Forman & Field has every type of food you can imagine from wild smoked scottish salmon and fresh fish to handmade gourmet pies and quiches, game and poultry, meats and delicious cakes and puddings. It is all from small British producers and can be ordered secure online for delviery throughout the UK. It is fine food so can be more costly than the supermarkets but the quality is far better.
