I had the misfortune to sign up to BT infinity and a phone package. They kept cancelling my changeover date, lying to me about why my existing number couldnt be transferred. Each time I phoned, they told me something completely different. One person even cancelled my order without asking me and reschedule the installation yet again. I was told I would get two months credit to compensate me for the inconvenience. Even that turned out to be a lie. In the end I lost my original phone number... (read more)

They transferred my phone line and then booked an appointment early in January to connect Infinity in the meantime they insisted on putting me on BT total broadband (their most expensive package!) BEWARE: A despicable avaricious old fashioned company who behave as though they have a monopoly and are too dumb to realise that they are being outstripped in every way by their competitors. They are (presumably) trying to make up for lost sales (due to their outmoded outlook, overpriced, substandard service and cheap, nasty products) by ripping off their existing customers in every way possible. •Their calls are overpriced and the tariffs are tricksy - make sure you read the very small... Upgrading my BT Broadband to BT Infinity 2? After having my letterbox regularly interfered with for over a year with sales information from BT attempting to persuade me to upgrade to BT Infinity (which I already have), several weeks ago, I received a telephone call from a jolly gentleman in BT’s sales team asking me if I wanted to upgrade to BT Infinity 2. If only they spent as much on their customer services as they did on marketing. The irony of watching a BT infinity advert with the internet constantly dropping was just cringe worthy. Certainly an example of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. They have no clue how to resolve problems other than to send you down a warren of online problem solvers (which again is a bit stupid if your internet isn't working) and then once you are finally getting somewhere, sending kit of... I had a similar experience with BT, when my fibre optic broadband stopped working just 3 weeks after it had been installed. One month later and, besides not having it sorted out, I had endless HOURS on the phone, going from department to department, being told the same as you every time....
So I wrote down every time I called, took note of the duration of the calls, and sent a 6-page complaint letter to BT, after having fought with them to cancel my service (I had agreed to a 12-month contract). Obviously I got no reply. So 2 months later I contacted the Ombudsman, sent them all the info - letters, bills, etc - and they argued my case for me, forcing BT to pay me back the money I had paid for the service for the weeks the service was down, plus £100 compensation for the utter inconvenience.
So if you are still having problems, I suggest you write down every detail and make a complaint. If all of us do the same, it will hurt the big companies in their pockets, and perhaps then they will treat us they way they "promise" to treat their clients.
Good luck!!! :-)
