Clamwin AV is a good av program, used with spybot and windows defender i have no problems, no spam, no popups no spyware, trojans etc, pc works great, mcafee and norton cost and take over pc , i unistalled mcafee to install winclam and spybot i highly recomend this set up.
interface is easy to navigate and does scan fast enough.
and can scan selected files and folder / directories without all the fuss of other apps.
    top program, so far anyways

I've been using ClamAV ClamWin for over a year now and think it's great. I used AVG for a while but it is so big now that it is no better than Norton etc for taking over your PC. If you team this with Free Zonealarm or open source Commodo firewall you have a pretty good security setup for nought.

ClamAV ClamWin maybe not best, but, on balance of resources vs protection, better than most. People who prefer other progs, have resources for it. I tried them all; AVG, Avira, Avast, SAS ... you name it. They ALL hog resources, slow things down terribly after a while ... and I still got infected. I'm very happy with ClamWin, coupled with other freebies.

With ClamAV ClamWin you have high quality. Add bugs seems to be gone. Really a nice AV-software.

ClamAV ClamWin is perfect at what it's meant to do, and it's free for all purposes, personal or commercial. If you want comprehensive protection, use ClamWin for a weekly-monthly full scan, and use another product for realtime monitoring and so forth. For personal use, the free edition of AVG, or better yet, Avira's (free) AntiVir, is a great combination. For commercial use, try ClamWin and... whatever. ClamWin will catch the stuff the others will miss. Because no one AV will catch *everything*.

Free doesn't always mean good, I found Clamwin to be a useless piece of bloatware. Just does absolutely nothing, looks nice and dandy, don't even bother quoting me "the bang for the buck" routine BS is BS plain and simple free or otherwise.
If I were a virus writer I would simply look at the clamwin source code wow now thats protection.

ClamAV software is not a memory hog.Can be used as secondary scanner, and user of Norton must use a secondary scanner.Free.Well it so happened that I installed several portable applications such as firefox, sumatra pdf, coolplayer on my USB drive and it was working so well... and then i installed clamwin portable in the smae setup.Surprise, surprise .. clamwin - running from portable apps found virus 'trojan downloader' in portable apps and coolplayer.. asper and norton both did not detect any ...

Overall it's as good as any other scanner. None can give you 100% protection and neither can ClamWin. However its a great piece of software, it's OSS, low on resources, solid and I like that you can set updating virus database to automatic when you want or as its likely to be used as a secondary scanner you can just update when you need it. Saves a lot of bandwith. Great software. I recommend it as a solid secondary scanner. Also there's a portable version available from Portableapps.com. Enjoy.

Doesn't use a lot of resources. Constantly improving. Fast and reliable. Really good antivirus with a fast and reliable engine (ClamAv based on unix). Really active project and constantly improving, well recommend ClamAV ClamWin AntiVirus Software.

It's plain no frills nothing fancy, no BS
It sort of reminds of a dos virus scanner that F-prot put out for years... it ran slow as well, but it was thorough and found viruses other programs couldn't find.
    Well recommend ClamAV ClamWin.

Free (with optional donation) and stays free
Easy to use scheduler, with different drive scans scheduled at different times.
The entire interface is somewhat barebones, but everything is available via a tab.
Option to email virus scan results (good for scanning servers or infrequently used machines)
Scan on demand only - saves memory - but there is an option to scan web downloads and mail (which takes longer than Norton AV).
Doesn't attempt to block ports, etc (that's what a firewall is for). As ...

First of all its free and it works very well with systems that rely on more than one anti virus.I prefer to check my system with more than one anti virus and clam win makes an excellent second scanner to check your system with. I give it a ten.
When I look for backups to a system that is vulnerable to attack and the people at clam win provide me with an excellent and very affective free alternative to the paid programs, I take my hat off to them and say thank you.

    Its free
    Its open soure
    It updates virus definitions
    Simple interface
    Runs off a USB drive
A solid project in progress with great potential.
Support it - it is getting better with erach release.
Don't demand too much from it, keep its functions simple or else it may become bloat-ware like another AVG or AVAST.

A very simple, easy to use piece of software, with a small footprint. It's only downfall is that it doesn't look all that pretty.Best of all: it is free, opensource and it works! Well recommend Clam Anit virus Clam Win!

Less effective in my experience. Norton Security Scan has better detection rates, removes viruses, and also doesn't hog system memory because it, like Clamwin, is an on-demand scanner only."Not very effective when compared to commercial AV but that's only a minor thing."Do recommend ClamAV ClamWin.

Lots of other 'FREE' scanners that actually detect viruses and run in real time. Dont recommend ClamAV.
