Good Points: Solid program with a very good track record

Bad Points: Interface is hard to learn and not for new computer users.

General comments: Bitdefender is very nice and comes in a variety of flavours to suit anyones use, including a large family. It is great at finding and digging out even the nasty bugs out there today. All around this should be one of the top three you check out when looking for virus and spyware protection.

SoftWin's Bit Defender 7 is a nice program to give to other non-computer savvy people. The detections seem to be good and the program is easy to configure for automatic scans and downloads. The downside of this is it monitors the registry for any change and prompts the user to allow or deny. It's somewhat annoying but I believe you can shut it off.
