Withe less then 2 years of use, it died on me. Bfore this is had an el-cheapo mini system fro GPX which lasted over 5 years. Not what expected from Soni.

My guess is that the power supply died. There is a really high pitched noise originating from the box itself. Both when the system is on and when it is off. I unplugged the speakers and the noise was still there.

Also agree that it difficult to use.

I does look nice but I did not pay for garbage, I paid for a working music system. REALLY disappointed in the quality.

CD player element first broke down within 3 months of purchase so repaired under guarantee.
CD player recently broke down again and it cannot be repaired.
Repairer said that the CD changer system known to have caused problems.
We have micro hifi from Aiwa for 7 yrs in another room and it has caused no problems at all. Prior to the Sony, we had a JVC hifi which worked well for around 15 yrs.

Two CD breakdowns within 5 yrs very disappointing from such a well-known brand as Sony.
    Not used very ...

I have studied the main PCB. There's a transistor which is supposed to regulate 3.3v q906 from either the emitter or collector which is malfunctioning giving a voltage 1.6 which cannot power the CD.
The cable for the CMT-CPX22 from the supply should provide 5v to the collector or emitter of q906 as indicated on the PCB via a capacitor but if you measure that pin which is indicated 5v its 12v is this a factory fault or design?
what can be done on q906 because its an SMD transistor? Any replace ...

When I saw the Sony CMT-CPX22 at the store between all the other "Micro-Systems"; I noticed that it not only looked the best of the bunch, but at 200 watts, it had the best sound quality and loudness. After giving up $299 and driving it home, I was still impressed with how it looked and sounded in my bedroom.

Now a year later of daily use, and I find that the CMT is the most unsatisfying, non-user friendly system I have ever owned.
