Arriving at Dalaman Airport at the start of our holiday was a easy, quick and efficient.

Using the airport for departure was a much more frustrating experience. 20:00 on a Monday evening, the queues to be scanned on entering the airport were about 10 minutes long, and was simple and straight forwards.

Check-in was a much longer wait - 3 desks, and we got in the slow queue. After waiting for about 50 minutes, we switched to the back of another queue and were checked-in before the people at the front of our queue were done!

Passport control was a straight-forwards affair, again, queue was approx 10 minutes. Went to departure lounge, and we wanted a drink and snack.

For 2 coffees (with coffee mate, no milk!) 2 cans of Fanta and 4 Mars bars, they tried to charge me £29!!! And their conversion of £ to yTL was £1 = 2yTL, not the 2.4 you get outside of the airport. Someone in the departure lounge said that the McDonalds Happy meals were £15 each.

My advice, take food and drink with you - unlike Gatwick you can take fluids (bottled water etc) all the way through and onto the plane.

Dalaman airport - Staff speak very poor English; not the ideal situation when going through security - especially when they seem frustrated at you for THEIR lapse in communication, and not yours. Staff generally miserable, customer service poor - at passport check in I had my passport snatched and chucked back at me, was stripped of £10 for a visa which nobody had been warned about and was completely disregarded throughout the entire process. This in combination with a dull concrete roofin ...

Although the Dalaman Airport terminal building appears to be fairly new there is not alot else positive to say. Food and drink prices are astronomical and they don't display any prices in the coffee shops so you don't realise until they ask for the money. Used the toilets on two occasions and on neither was there any toilet paper. The seating all around the departure lounge is extremely uncomfortable, no chance of sleeping. They are very hot on baggage allowance and 1 kilo over and you will be c ...

This is a much improved airport since the opening of the new terminal building. There is a serious lack of seating in the departure lounge, although there is ample room in the gates. Food is incredibly expensive. There was a Burger King on the floor above the concourse, where a Bacon Double meal was around £18! This has now closed. At MacDonalds, in the departure lounge, a basic "value" meal costs around £15! I did try to e-mail BK to congratulate them on the most expensive bur ...

I feel that the customer is being expected to pay a lot of money in the eating places. The prices seem high. Seating uncomfortable. Lighting a bit dim. Take your own food into the airport. The ladies toilets had no paper or soap available.

Dalaman is a clean safe airport with a good range of duty free products! I would recommend retailers of food and drink there out their prices down and they will find that a lot more people will buy from them!

Flight was nearly on time. Airport clean. Good choice of Duty Free. However, not a way to finish your holiday and to feel inclined to return...

So much for encouraging tourism and holiday home purchases.

There are no good points about Dalaman airport.. Bad points, queueing. Paying £17 for one Macdonalds meal, so many security procedures. The fact there is no smoking anywhere in the airport.

Dalaman airport is an acceptable airport. The new terminal was fine, very clean and air conditioned. However, the price of everything is horrendous. Almost £20 for two McDonalds McChicken sandwich meals, which is absolutely ridiculous! Check-in was quick and efficient, and everything went quite smoothly, although I wouldn't want to be stuck there delayed, especially considering the price of everything.

Arrived at Dalaman Airport on a coach. The coach was not allowed in to the airport to drop us off for 15 minutes as there were to many people already trying to get in to the airport. Once the coach had dropped us off we had to queue for an hour to get in as they X ray your luggage on entry. There is no queing system and so a lot of people just push in. Once in, we checked in which wasn't a problem, but then we had to queue to get through passport control. This took forever. The guys stamping you ...

Returned though Dalaman airport on 21 May 2005. The luggage scanning and check in procedures were both very quick.
The departure lounge was comfortable with plenty of seats, clean and air conditioned but this will probably be different in high summer!
The food and drink prices were horrendous - suggest you take your own if you don't want to spend a fortune, especially if you are delayed.
The staff in the duty free shops were very pushy and were telling UK customers that they could bring back ...

I suffered Dalaman and its checking for 4 horrible hours in August 2004. The airport size means its queuing system is non existent. Took quite some time to workout were the queue for our flight started. There check in process is a manual one. Not a computer in site. Passport control again a joke. An excuse to give someone a job stamping passports. Then the delight of the departure lounge and its assortment of overpriced food outlets and duty free shops were you are nearly hounded to enter. All p ...
