    Good Points: Corfu was beautiful.

    Bad Points: The whole thing.

General comments: The experience started when our plane began it's decent into what can only be described as a corner shop, with a runway that was microscopic to the naked eye. I warn you now whatever you do don't look down, as the water is touchable with your fingertips. While the plane was wobbling from side to side just above 50 metres of water, I actually felt my stomach turn upside down. Touchdown wasn't the last of it. We approached our parking point about 20 metres away from the terminal building but had to wait for a bus to take us 10 seconds across to the terminal. What a waste of time. Once inside the building, we were all squashed in like Sardines in a tin waiting hours on end for our luggage to appear from the 1 of 2 luggage belts, which in time did finally start moving only about 1 mph. Once the luggage was thankfully in hand, we walked down to try and find our rep to take us to our hotel. What we didn't know was that we were the only people going to the hotel, so we were told we had to wait for a taxi and when I mean wait, I mean about 1 hour if not more. If I'm honest, our taxi driver must of thought we were in the Grand Prix, rather than on small narrow mountain roads. The driver ignored traffic lights whenever possible, overtaking and hurling abuse at other drivers whilst speaking on her mobile phone. It was supposed to take 1 hour to get to our hotel but with the new Grand Prix Champion behind the wheel of our taxi, we made it in just under 40 minutes. After our week long stay at Corfu, it was time for our return home. Again, a taxi returned us to the airport where we were shocked to find mile long queues outside the actual building. Well we got out of our taxi and didn't have a clue which queue to go into, one rep was trying to control 5 queues, he tried his best though. We didn't expect to wait outside to get to the gate for check in but then again, why would you. Most airports don't make you queue outside in a boiling heatwave. We waited and waited and waited in the heat, if I had of known we would have to queue outside for 2 hours, I would have put factor 30 sun block on. We could start to hear our plane being called for departure but we were still outside waiting for check in. Finally we got into the entrance, found our check in desk with a great struggle, as everyone seemed to be in one queue. We approached security and they didn't even check our luggage, we were just rushed to the desk. Trying to find our gate was a nightmare as the departure lounge was rammed and if I'm honest like a market. We were all hurled together like Paparazzi waiting for a great snap of a celebrity. We spent about 2 minutes in the lounge as our plane was called again. We approached the gate, only to be hurled onto the plane like animals getting on Noah's Ark. The stairs were taken away and we were all ready to taxi for take off. As we approached the runway I realised we were going the wrong way, to my amazement the runway was so small we had to backtrack up the runway to have more clearance. Speeding down the runway and finally saying our goodbyes to the lovely Corfu and the dreaded Airport.

Corfu is one of the best places to visit in the world, and it depresses me every time I visit the transport links, as both sea and air let it down. What do we have to do to get the Corfu government to wake up to what the benefits of a new airport with proper passenger facilities would do for the island?

Corfu airport is much, much too small. People have to queue outside to check in. It's an absolute nightmare.

Corfu International Airport was smelly and dirty. I hate it! It was very busy and there were not enough seats to sit on, and the staff do nothing. Terrible airport!
