security staff very poorly trained in their duties, eating places lack cleanliness of tables,poor access to board planes having to walk in bad weather outside. Transport to connect to airport terminal very poor. The train station is a couple of miles away and not into the terminal. And if you pick up or drop off be careful not to stop on the approaches as you will end up with a hefty fine through the post. I witnessed a female UK Border employee rudely accusing a man and his family of something but ended up admitting him into the country any way. I recommend sensitivity training for people working the the pubic servant industry.She was totally out of order and I hope she gets what's coming to her! (read more)

Difficult to know where to start.Once past the initial sparkle the airport is dingy and poorly maintained. One visit led me to write a complaint re flooded toilets and chewing gum stuck around walls and pillars.Got a reply but at our most recent visit nothing much had changed.Generally the staff who board and supposedly welcome you into the country appear indifferent and passengers are treated like cattle.It's quite embarrassing to think this is what foreigners first impressions are of... Parked up to collect family, waited 20 minutes for them, went to pay for car parking first machine was out of order went to the next machine put my ticket in went to pay with a £10 note machine would not except notes, the price of my ticket at this time was £6 could not get my ticket back out of the machine, went to look for a member of staff what a joke that was, ended up running back to my car to get my debit card, by the time I got back to the machine the price had gone up to £8, it me... Expect to be fleeced if you don't watch out when you're flight was cancelled as mine was by the French air traffic controllers. On arriving from another airport because there were no flights to Liverpool airport, we were two days late because of the strike in France. So the plan was to pick up the car that we had left at Liverpool and pay the excess parking fee for the extra two days. A journey that involved taking our second car to Liverpool. I experienced a worrying attitude from a security staff member who was clearly abusing his position of authority rather than insuring travellers' security and in the process extorting me of my money! I was refused access through security because I was carrying a bare minimum of toiletries (i.e. 1 nearly empty toothpaste tube, 1x20ml of liquid soap, 1x25ml of moisturiser) into a transparent plastic bag that was 25x25cm rather than the 20x20cm required. I live in the City Centre of Liverpool and get a bus into the airport to save money on parking.The bus stopsright outside which is a good thing.I rarely use check in because I check in online and only ever have hand luggage with me.But when I have checked in,the staff have always been helpful and very pleasant,sometimes the queue can be long but once you get to security there queues are huge so waiting at the Ryanair check-in is nothing. This airport and its security staff have totally inadequate training and compassion for what used to be called 'disability' issues. The security staff at supervisory level create and delight in making problems for people with mobility problems. No aid is offered and one only gets a couldn't care less attitude for problems created by the staff who do not care about the customer experience. I recently travelled to Amsterdam with my Wife and twin 1 yr old girls. We got to the airport over 2 hours before departure but we que’d for over an hour to go through so called ‘Easyjet on-line check in’. But this is Easyjet’s no frills un-professional approach and we have learnt to accept this over the years. Shocking place, horrible security staff. The security staff look more of a criminal risk than the passengers! How crazy is that? I travelled from JL Airport and back to Alicante in may 2012, and found it to be a filthy, disorganised airport. Rubbish was left on chairs in Costa, and a young lad was riding on his bike(this was after midnight). When we were waiting for the departure gate to come up on the board,it appeared at the last minute, only 10 minutes before the gate closed,so there was a terrible rush for the gate. This was totally unprofessional. I wouldn't use it only for the fact that Easyjet fly from here. (read more)

Will Liverpool Airport ever get its act together. When you visit a City with a reputation for its friendly people .. you expect the same from the staff at Liverpool Airport. But no, they are extremely rude .. they are of the opinion that you have paid for a flight that you want/need to take and they are going to stamp their authority on you because if you complain they can delay you and make you miss your flight. Easy to reach by car and the Pricebuster car park is decent value for money. But after that the whole experience is let down by penny-pinching. Don't bother with a trolley from the car park-they are ancient and have a mind of their own.The check in process is confusing unless you have done it before but relativly pleasant compared to the next step-security.This is the only airport where i am treated like a potential terrorist because of my metal hip. Arrivals An info display said we would find our luggage on the belt 2. We waited and waited and... the luggage was on the belt 3. I personally missed a bus to Manchester and had to expect one more hour. Departures No information concerning the check-in desks: one had to read the displays at every desk to find the right one. Having passed the gate we were stopped for over 10 minutes in a closed corridor leading to the plane (BTW by horrible steep and rotten stairs), stinking of petrol.... (read more)

Travelled to Limoges via Ryanair. No complaints about airline. You get what you pay for unfortunately it is the only way into Limoges. The airport was a different matter. The new security area has all the technology, but I travelled at a relatively quiet period and had delays getting through security. Coming back was worse with long queues for the passport check. Car parking wasn't much better. Come on Liverpool its time to get more efficient. (read more)

Awful, awful, awful. From rude security staff who bark at you rather than talk like a human being, to appalling catering, grubby cafes, low ceilings everywhere. This airport reeks of overbearing management whose only missiion in life is to make your holiday experience as miserable as possible and to extricate as much money from you as possible. Welcome to Liverpool, when landing you are always met by three scruffy passport control women will a mouth full of chewing gum. Their pointless purpose is to stand and point simultaneously to the next available passport officer.
The Departure lounge does not have adequate information screens (one so high you need binoculars and another is on a caf ), you often see fifty passengers standing around watching people eat.
The newspaper shop is a nightmare when it's busy due to poor layout but... (read more)

Why does John Lennon Airport have 1 lane to go through security with a line of people going all the way around the Airport (so no one can move around) and then 3/4 lanes for fast track with not a single person using it or wanting to pay £3 to use it. Week beginning 2nd March 2009. Our company had occasion to use Liverpool airport twice. The queues for fast track on the Monday took 40 minutes. On Wednesday the queues were up the stairs- not good for Health and Safety. The executive lounge was closed - no alternative provided or warning from the previous week. My 82 year old mother and myself travelled to Norway recently from Liverpool John Lennon Airport. We were one of the first in the queue at check in and hence we had our boarding cards in hand TWO HOURS prior to the flight departing. We then joined the queue for security, absolutely refusing to pay up £3 each to be "fast tracked". Why does Liverpool Airport need a Fast Track when all of the other airports I have used - and I travel by air regularly, do not need this facility?

Only go to Liverpool because its the nearest to North Wales. Not in the same league as Manchester and even little Blackpool leaves it standing.
A quick course in good manners and civil behaviour would be a start for the rude and mainly disinterested staff.

Very disappointed with John Lennon Liverpool Airport, some of their rude staff and its non existant customer relations. At an airport the patrons are obliged to use the facilities for obvious reasons, does this mean that people can be charged very high rates at every opportunity? I would NOT recommend Liverpool airport because it gets too crowded in the check-in area. Security was slower than East Midlands airport which is just as busy as Liverpool. Needs too be bigger in the departure lounge as it is packed full of people! There should be more shops and the airport could be cleaner. (read more)

Myself and a few friends flew from Liverpool John Lennon Airport in February 2008 on a week long trip to Murcia.
Having never visited Liverpool Airport before, I was curious to see what the place would be like. Liverpool Airport is smaller than most other airports so, I wasn't expecting perfection. Luckily.

I believe that the double charging for security is a patently wrong, but because of the length of time I spent queuing on my last visit to John Lennon airport I intend to use the fast track queue in future. This is so quick that I will be able to arrive much nearer the flight departure time, breeze through security and thus reduce my time in the airport. I use this airport very often but will now look at using Manchester or Blackpool for my flights as I can't be doing with the stress or feeling that I am being forced to pay for something that I feel wasn't needed in the first place. I have never been stuck in a line for security in all the times I have passed through the airport, until this profit making scheme has come about. Avoid John Lennon Airport if you can look elsewhere. When I was there they used one set of stairs and corridors for what seemed to me ALL travelers to access their gate number! I found this cramped with a low ceiling and the claustrophobic feeling I got was quite strong!
Imagine leaving a big football match complete with the crowd, down flights of stairs then channels, which I thought were similar to cattle markets and you get the idea!
The food on offer is what I'd expect at a local greasy spoon, but at extreme prices!

Arriving at 11pm at Liverpool Airport, I was dismayed at unavailability of catering facilities. Only thing to drink was small bottle of Coke at £2.50 from vending machine (which was out of order). Same size Coke costs 75p in shops! (read more)
