Good Points: Clean and staff generally helpful
Bad Points: Small, often crowded, poor organisation of queues
General comments: Aberdeen airport does the job but it could be better. Flight delays are invariably down to the airlines in such a small airport and even then they are few and far between in my experience.
At peak times it isn't unusual for the security queue to cross over the check-in queue - it's really that small. When this happens people tend to be left to their own devices without any guidance from staff. This means that scuffles and conflict aren't unheard of as people get in each other's way through no fault of their own. The check-in queue also crosses the main entrance so in addition to everything else you have people coming and going having to push through the queues as well.
Eating facilities are restricted to a snack from WH Smith, an overpriced and usually dried out meal from the cafe or snacks from the small facility in departures.
Shopping is likewise restricted to Baxter's Foods or duty free.
The transport links into the city are pretty poor, buses run every 30 minutes but take a long and winding road to get there and are standard city buses which stop everywhere.
Decent road links but traffic is a nightmare if departing early morning or arriving late afternoon/early evening.
Train is ok but the station is on the opposite side of the airport with no link to it from arrivals and no way straight across - you have to leave the airport and go round the road which is way too far to walk.
Taxis are a feast or a famine - Aberdeen Airport Taxis have the monopoly and no other companies are allowed to tout for business, however you can order one by phone and they can pick you up, just not allowed to wait in the rank. 20 minutes before a flight is due you can pick from anyone of around 20 cars, 20 minutes after landing there's 100 people and no cars but the queue is organised by taxi staff so there's no jumping or pushing in.
