“Worst Flight Experience”

Chicago-Warsaw-Sofia This flight was a terrible experience. Everything was fine until I got to the gate only to find out my flight had been delayed 3 hours. I was certain that I would miss my flight from Warsaw to Sofia and I was right. The plane was fine but none of the flight attendants were willing to speak English. “Bad Experience with LOT”

It was our first and definetly last Flight wit LOT! We did made Booking via WAW to RIX (Riga) and in Warshav we had a Connecting Time of 45 Minuted. Although our Plane arrived just few Minutes delayed, they did not wait for the Transitpassengers and have been also pretty rude! We felt like back in the former 60ty communism Years. Very bad Custumerservice at Warshov Airport at LOT Transferdesk!!! Staff seems not very professional. (read more)

Very bad impression. I think I'd never choose this airline again. I was flying from Chicago to Moscow with a connection in Warsaw. I got 2 baggage bags with me and the first thing is i had to pay 200 (!)$ for the second bag. Isn't that too much? Anyway I was OK with that and proceeded to chek-in. The lady said my carry-on bag was too heavy and suggested me to put some stuff in the baggage. I was in a hurry as there were many people in line behind me so i put some things including my iPhone... During transfer in Poland our fly was delayed, we waited a few hours. When we are landed at home we found that our luggage was opened and a lot of stuff stolen. now waiting response for compensation. (read more)

We flew Toronto-Warsaw, then Krakow-Budapest via Warsaw, Prague-Toronto via Warsaw Sept.oct 2012. Countless issues. First the carrier was Aerosvit ( Ukraine) and was an old plane. No movies, Sandwich for food, left late but made up the time. Krakow flight was 1 hr late so were stuck in Warsaw Airport for 6 hrs. Got a food voucher ( which only covered half of our food). I bought the ticket for my dog by phone, at LOT office in Stockholm, to be sent to me. Of some reason the ticket got lost and never reached me. I had to visit the LOT office and fetch a duplicate myself. Very inconvenient! At the return journey from Warsaw to Stockholm the plane had some technical problems and we had to sit an hour inside the plane and wait. Very scary! “Horrible airline”

Three recent flights on LOT with two cancellations and one missed connection. Now cancellations do occur. However, the most important issues are how the airline handles rebooking, hotels, information etc. The Transfer Desk at Chopin (Warsaw) airport have the worst attitude I have ever seen. Four people "working" there and only one person handling rebooking and this is four hours after the flight was cancelled. Some people were standing in line for 8 hours for a rebooking and hotel. Will never fly this airline in my life, I rather give Lufthansa my money. on both legs ORD-WAW-ORD the flight was delayed by 4 hours, I am star alliance member and had record documented by LH rep but since I did not have a plastic card I was charged 60 fee. What makes this even worst is that the LOT O'Hare agent removed the remark from the reservation after checking me in. Flew with LOT numerous of times, long and short haul. Overall, I was always satisfied with the whole trip. Good food, comfortable planes (happy to hear 787 Dreamliner will be a part of the family soon and some of those older looking 767 can retire) nice stuff. More important, i always felt safe flying with LOT, as it is well known that their pilots are one of the best. Would definitely fly with them again. (read more)

Well 147Fiona, i travel at least 5 times a month. Long haul, short haul -you name it. I have my favorite airlines, LOT is one of them.From my personal view why i think pilots are one of the best is that I always experienced gentle landings for example. And I meant it. Never a hard drop, never that unexpected feeling that the wheels just touched the tarmac. Most of the time very smooth flights and if the weather conditions are not ideal, pilots take their time to calmly update passengers on what is going on and what is to be expected. I know this is not uncommon, but sometimes you just have that feeling of what or who makes you feel safe. Also, if you spend some time reading about LOT history,you can find a lot of info about LOT's pilots and why they are among the world’s foremost aviators. They receive a multitude of awards and won championships in many fields of competition flying, and gliding world champions. So there you have it, my 2 cents.

I would not recommend LOT as it is the worst airlines in the history. The personel is very rude. The flights are always late or delayed in hours for no reason. In our last trip in June 2012 we were given 12 minutes to run through the Warsaw airport to connect with another flight. Food is horrible. LOT is not taking responsibilites for demaged luggage and they will not compesate you for the demages. There is no competent person at the gate as on the plane. Do you self a favor and find... An absolute worse experience at Torontos check out counter, Polish staff very arrogant and unprofessional towards the passengers. My Mother got so upset with bullying and intimidation at the checkout counter , she almost fainted . The staff followed her to the aircraft to upset her MORE!!!!! This is not a review of hard working ground and cabin crew, who like in most airlines are underpaid and overworked. This is a review of Lot Airlines only. My wife an I have flown from New York to Poland 7 times, 2 times using Lot Polish Airlines. This is the only airline flying directly to Poland from New York. When I was flying to warszawa, the flight was cancelled from warszawa to chicago. When to change our flight, the lady got mad that we where wasting her time and that thee a lot of people. On the flight to warszawa it was bad, I had to fly in a ATR-42-500, it was so loud. Cheapest tickets for summer in eastern europe, codeshare on first and last leg with Air Canada. Lot planes old, dingy, with terrible IFE. Screen blacked out on first flight, so no entertainment. Crew were efficient, not friendly (for the most part). Staff in Lviv refused to believe me when I told them Air Canada's carry on rules (ticket stated that carry on rules of first airline apply to entire itinerary), and made me pay to check my carry on. I had pretty good experience fliyng Toronto-Warsaw-Kiev and back.
Hot meal, drinks, morning snack. Everithing on time, landed even earlier.
Boeing 767 was quite new. Personnel could understand English.
My checked luggage was 0.6kg overweight - not a single word about it.
Nothing lost.
On my way back I was late and almost missed flight, registration closed,
but I could find LOT representative and she put me on the plane last minute (had to run and cut the passport line). Aircraft was older...

Lot airlines is probably the worst airline that I have ever used. I was planning on taking my puppies with me from Warsaw back to new york city, I called their customer service 3 times, to confirm the regulation concerning the animals and the type of crate that they should be transported in before purchasing the materials. I have recently booked flight on Lot airlines From London to Odessa.I booked in Australia and tried to change whilst in Thailand but there was no telephone number that I could use they are all call centers only available from certain countries. When I changed my return flight in London through call center they charged me £190 nearly the cost of the full flight. Normally change of flights is never more than £40 anywhere in the world with any airline.

My husband and I will never fly LOT again despite the fact that we are Polish. I purchased a ticket for my husband who went to see his ill mother. He supposed to fly back the next Monday but unfortunately, his mother past away and he wanted to stay for the funeral. I called LOT in New York (waiting 35 minutes for anyone to answer the phone). I flew on this airline for 20 years. I am done. Calling their customer service line is like calling the Vatican. Gee how fun is it to first sit in the plane for 4 hours, then go to a cheap hotel, then go back to the airport and sit around for another 7 hours waiting for a plane to take you to Boston then Chicago. Lot is definitely the worst airline I have ever flown on. The service was terrible. The stewardesses act as if they are doing you a favor by being on the plane. The plane was delayed forever. When I changed planes in Warsaw it took hours and the airport was not heated so I sat and shivered for hours between walks around the tiny building. The plane was dirty. I had an overnight flight, Ok. I've had a couple of those over my flying history and most of them where not a 5 star hotel, but were comfortable and Ok. But with LOT, the seats are half the size of any other airline, the stewardesses didn't speak any English! even though it's a flight form the US (an English speaking country) to Warsaw. I avoid them whenever possible. Most recently, I had a First Class ticket on Lot from Chicago to Krakow. Missed my connection due to mechanical problems. When trying to rebook the connecting flight they lost my reservation, then found it but claimed I hadn't paid -- despite having issued me a boarding pass earlier. LOT Polish Airlines is a terrible airline. They overbook their flights a lot!. Second christmas in a row i have to spend the night at the airport. At least this time they gave me a voucher for the trouble. The service at check-in desk is incompetent, super rude, and basically the horror of any traveler once something goes wrong. I was connecting in Warsaw to JFK and then SF. I had an open bottle of brandy with me which I bought in a Duty Free. When coming through the security, they asked me to dispose of this bottle, I said "sure", went to the end of the line and finished the bottle before passing through the security again. Wait a minute...You drank your brandy at the airport and you were expecting them to let you on board of a plane? I have a feeling that something is wrong with you. Gosh where do such people come from seriousely...You blame an airline for doing things wrong and you are not even ok by yourself. You should just be more informed about travelling+security procedures before you book a flight next time. Good luck to you!

This is my first and last time on LOT Polish Airlines. From Chicago we pulled out on the runway to a far corner of the airport and sat for 4 hours without explanation. Returning from Poland they change the schedule from 9am to 6 am - then delayed the actual departure till after 10am. My advice is to fly to Berlin on a decent airline and drive to Poland. (read more)

My first trip to Poland on LOT Polish Airlines will undoubtedly be my last!
After a connecting flight (on a different airline) to JFK, the 10:00pm flight to Krakow was "delayed" until 7AM next morning. But no one waiting in line for 1+ hours was told this until they actually arrived at the ticketing counter to check their bags. (No announcement was made to the 50+ people in line). LOT put us up in area hotels, but was extremely disorganized during the process.

I would seriously think before I flew with LOT Polish Airlines again. Don't get me wrong, the flight itself was good, and so was the service, but you don't expect to be on a plane for three and a half hours with just dry sandwiches. We knew that the sandwiches we had from Heathrow to Warsaw were the same we had from Warsaw to Odessa. I think people should be informed about the fact that they have to book food beforehand! My parents had their flight delayed and they had to wait in Poland for 12 hours for another flight, their luggages got lost, but they received them tonight. They were shocked to find out that their luggages were opened and a lot of their stuff was stollen... They called the destination airport to complaint, they register over there, but they were told to call LOT and wait for a response for compensation. Could you please let us know how to proceed? It's the worst customer service, they don't answer the phones or we get disconnected.
