It Started with the horrible customer service at the gate. Beware that they will rip you off right and left. Do not be fooled by their low cost slogan. I booked a round-trip flight from Denver to Las Vegas and the flight was delayed leaving Denver - no weather issues, the flight was just late with no explanations. The Spirit representative at the gate kept leading us on as to the time of departure, and I was led to believe after two hours of delay that we had another 30-45 minutes before the flight would arrive. My family has endured 2 trips with Spirit. The first leg of a Dallas to Orlando r/t, was adequate but the return was awful. We spent HOURS sitting in an isolated part of the Orlando airport that had no available drinks or food. We waited around 5 and 1/2 hours. With 2 kids. other people around us had babies that were running out of formula and snacks for their little ones. Not a good way to end your vacation. We finally flew out around 3:00AM. Worst experience all around. Everything about this airlines is appealing! The price of the ticket may be cheap but they make up for it on EVERYTHING they charge you for. And on top of that they destroyed an item when they manually went through my luggage that I thought I was going to be able to carry on. This was a very expensive item that now does not work! Tried to print off boarding pass only to find out from an employee that it's because I'm using Internet Explorer!?! So I go to a computer that has firefox and they print off ok. While getting my boarding passes I'm surprised to find out that the seats I thought I'd booked I hadn't oh and it was going to cost $80 extra for seats with actual room for my 6'3" husband to fit in! We made reservations through travelosity with Spirit airlines...they were the least expensive. Now I know why...they charge extra for EVERYTHING except using the restrooms on board! Booking seats were expensive and difficult on line. They also charge for baggage-no real surprise here, but if you don't pay online before traveling, they state they have the option to charge more ( a lot more) once you arrive at the airport-which they did to other travelers. irit with no soul: My son and I arrived at the ticket counter at 3;30 pm for 5:30 pm flight from BOS to FTL. I tried to print out our boarding passes but nothing comes up on the computer screen. I booked my son, a musician, on Spirit airlines. Later I found cheaper flights on another airline which the rest of us took. On the trip down to Florida he took his guitar on as carry on and there was a lot of hassle around that. He ended up having to call some number in India while at the airport to have the cost to carry it on reduced to 40.00! So, after reading ALLLLL the horrific reviews of this airline AFTER booking my flight, I was extremely nervous the day it came to fly out to Vegas with them. Spirit Air - THE worst airline I ever flew in the last 40 years! After you pay for your ticket, you pay for your seat sepparately (there are NO free seats! - so what does the ticket give me?). You continue to pay for carry-on luggage, for everything over 40 lbs (other airlines are 50 lbs), you pay for the water and your seat goes at most 1.5 inches back, which makes it impossible to sleep. After you add on all the fees, you pay more than with a regular airline and get a losy service. (read more)

I have flown Spirit many times when located in Providence and was quite happy. However, things have changed drastically since my last experience with you. Spirit Airlines is an abysmal failure. They seem to have cheap fares up front, but by the time you've paid all the extras they require of you (bags, food, an aisle seat, and even an inflight soda or peanuts) the cost of your flight quickly exceeds the prices of their competitors. Their boarding process is similar to the free-for-all one might expect at a department store the morning after Thanksgiving but with tickets to get in.

Spirit Airlines is an okay airline especially for the price. But their customer service at the Fort lauderdale airport is highly unexceptable, especially a Mr. Julian Thompson he was rude and did not even document I had already paid for a bag but was carrying it on the plane because it could fit in the over head. This company will rip you off. They tell you one price and when you submit your info, suddenly there are multiple additional charges. Even if you cancel, they will charge your card anyway, even additional unapproved charges. They will not refund your money or let you change names on the tickets to try to re-coup some of your money. First time Spirit flyer and apprehensive about it. Could not have been better. On time take-off and arrivals both directions. Comfortable seats on a full aircraft. I'm a business traveler and a member of three large airline frequent flyer programs, none of which airlines have equaled the Spirit experience. I recommend highly to all based on my experience. Read the fine print. 1st set of prices to go from Detroit to FLL:
$59 down per person down + $89 per person return.
Advertised round trip ticket price for two = $296 [oh don't forget the extras]
Add on taxes + luggage + actually buying a seat on the plane to sit in add on price $604.
20 minutes after my on-line booking we had a 1 day travel change.
Return flight stayed the same. Penalties + new seats + extra $ for talking to real people on the phone + charged 4 times for seat assignments....

Made reservations in April for a flight in August with Sprint Airlines. In the meantime we were rescheduled without me realising on a non-direct flight with a 5 HOUR layover in a connecting city. I could have driven to my location in the same amount of time. I don't remember there being an option for me to get a refund and make alternate plans. In reference to the review that was posted, I think something that I said was put out of context. I DO remember that I did not receive a phone call, email, or letter from Spirit advising that the original flight that I booked had been cancelled. If they had only given me the option to cancel my reservation because of THEIR decision to cancel that route, I would not be writing this review. SPIRIT GAVE ME NO APPARENT OPTION WHATSOEVER AND I DID NOT KNOW OF THE CHANGE IN THEIR ROUTE. If they had, I would have cancelled, because I can drive to my destination in less time and with less hassle than what I got.

I THINK SPIRIT IS THE WORST AIRLINE OUT THERE. I recently returned from a trip to Florida (Aug 12, 2008).
REASONS WHY I THINK THEY SHOULD NOT BE USED:
1) My luggage was lost
2) I thought the customer service was HORRIBLE when I needed their help (none of their numbers that they gave me worked)
3) I found their seats uncomfortable
4) Charge $25 each bag

It should never take 60 minutes to talk to a CS rep. They don't seem to make notes on your account as promised and when you call back, no one has any record of what is going on. I only give them a rating of 2 because they do offer cheap prices. (read more)

Got to the airport my flight was cancelled, was not informed until I got to the check in counter. Was told that they could not help we would have to buy another ticket from another carrier, and I would get a refund. I bought a new ticket because I had hotel and car booked and paid for so I had to get on a flight. My initial flight was delayed 2 hours so I went to reschedule my connecting flight with the ticket agent. The manager got belligerent with me. Lauderdale to Nassau for Dec. 20, 2007 that was on flight NK409, the return was to be from Providencales back to Ft. Lauderdale on Jan. 2 2008. flight NK160. I like a good deal but Spirit Air isn't worth what appears to be a savings. We had to rearrange rides from the airport, we still have missing bags and it's almost impossible to speak to them when you have a problem. If you don't believe me, just try calling their customer service department. You'll get an automated hangup 9 times out of 10.

We were supposed to start at SFO at 10:40pm, but that Spirit Airlines flight was delayed because there was a storm in Atlantic City (at least that is what I was told). This airline is the worst I ever seen, poor customer service, trick people with different fees, staff at DFW have poor hygiene, sloppy dress, talking trash! Especially so called manager named (name removed)! It looks like they running a Taco bell in middle of poorest third world countries. They told me I cannot call their supervisor and asked me call 1-800 # , which nobody can reach anybody , I stay on hold 30 min twice with no success to talk with anyone! They practically stole my money!
