“Never again”

Written on: 19/05/2013 by TangerineFanInLondon

We read China airlines fleet had been updated, not here though! Our flight left London at 1-30pm, at 2-30pm 'lunch' was served, at 2-45pm we shutters were pulled down and we were told to go to sleep! Unbelievable!! The 'food' was disgusting, no wonder the traveller behind us had taken their our food, Yuk. Attitude in all the staff who didn't seem to like their job. We enquired about an upgrade b4 takeoff and were told it would be at least £1000, its no wonder that no-one was in business... (read more)

Aircraft cabin was very presentable and nice colours. Legroom was ok and I found the seat extremely comfortable . It must be a cleverly designed seat .the cabin crew were all very pleasant and attentive.the food was excellent and the avod choice was good ,the screens are quite small but good quality picture..the total experience was as good if not better than the middle eastern carriers I have flown with them all but honestly china airlines was the best,I have no negatives at all if you... “Would never fly China Airline again”

Written on: 16/03/2013

I would like to express a deep disappointment of how my family was treated today at the Phnom Penh, Cambodia airport by the China Airline staff on February 9, 2013, the eve of Lunar New Year. Even though the flight is probably not even half full, just like flying on Christmas eve anywhere in the US or Europe, the general manager there was giving us an extreme hard time about overweight of carry-on luggage-by a few kilograms for carry-on luggage. I have been flying almost 30 years to over... (read more)

“Undependable Airline - NEVER, ever again will I fly it”

Written on: 19/01/2013

I took China Airline about 5 years ago. From New Delhi to San Francisco Airport. Someone I know had recommended it because the "benefit" was - you fly from Delhi, get a stop over for one night (hotel and food provided) midway, and reach fresh to San Francisco. I had 3 seats going. On return, the airline would not confirm my return, and I was forced to buy 3 one way fares back. I ended up spending twice the money. I would not even fly China Airline, even if it was a free fare. ... (read more)

“avoid if carrying fragile/valuable luggage”

Written on: 18/01/2013

my review pertains specifically to anyone who wants to take fragile luggage with them. I have a viola, which I have always taken with me as hand luggage on every other airline that I have flown on (Cathay, Swiss, Etihad, Emirates, Qantas, easyjet, Thai). It is fragile, the wood finish can be disturbed by temperature extremes, and the case is an ordinary solid case. The lady at the check-in desk from Sydney insisted against all my protestations that it had to be checked in. No reason was... (read more)

“Extra effort”

Written on: 29/11/2012

I could not find my passport while waiting for the interview with an Immigration officer in San Francisco Airport on 11/27/2012. Panically, I rushed back to the China Airlines cabin. A China Airlines stewardess was on the way to exit San Francisco Airport. She immediately turned back and helped me to find the passport in the cabin (note: I am not allowed to enter the cabin). While the stewardess was searching for my passport, a male China Airlines officer accompanied me and comforted me. To... (read more)

“Awful flight - yikes!”

Written on: 28/05/2012

AWFUL, AWFUL experience on China Airlines from Taipei to LA, May 21. My husband is 6ft. 4 inches and when we checked in early in the morning for our flights from Bangkok to Taipei and Taipei to LA we asked the ticket agent to sit us in seats that would accomodate his height. "Oh yes sir. You'll have plenty of room, etc., etc." When we got on the plane we were instead seated in the tightest seats next to the lavatory. When my husband literally couldn't sit down, there was much flurry of... (read more)

Written on: 16/04/2011 by dave cantwell (1 review written)

I had my most uncomfortable long haul flight ever with China Airlines. Very cramped but more importantly the seat was completely worn out. The foam was compressed to about an inch thick so protusions on the seat base were making their presence felt. I asked for another seat as 13 hours of sitting on this thing were starting to alarm me. They brought me an equally worn out replacement cushion. Upshot of this was it was extremely uncomfortable and painful and of course any sleep was... (read more)

London to Taipei and back via Frankfurt due to an unexplained cancellation of my original flight. Cabin crew outbound excellent, addressed by name the entire flight and helpful with drinks and snacks. Any airline would be proud to have such customer focused crew. Both meals only adequate. I found this review not helpful because...it's about China Airlines, not really about Best Travel Store at all. Pretty much any airline will refund a ticket (even a non-refundable one) if the passenger has a serious medical issue and can provide documentation. This review really doesn't have much to do at all with Best Travel Store--the reviewer goes on and on about China Airlines.

What's more scary are the other reviews from people being wrongfully charged hundreds of dollars--very shady.

This trip was LAX-TPE-BKK and CNX-TPE-LAX, Economy class, late November 2008. LAX to TPE was a nice new 747-400 with IFE in the seatbacks, a comfortable trip with no problems, above-average food and professional and personable cabin staff. The IFE system froze up just as we reached Hokkaido but was back up and running after a reboot that took roughly 45 minutes. This airline has the unfortunate problem of people thinking it is "China Air". In fact China Air is a Chinese state airline and having lived i can tell you that it is pretty bad! All in all, it was fine for me, but not for my companion. The only big problems were aircraft-related. Monkeyzone's Response to italian soda's Review

Written on: 23/04/2007

I've been dating a China Airlines flight attendant for two years. He's ultra serious about his job and the flight attendants have very regular scheduled safety tests and English tests. Poor guy has been stuck in economy class for 8 years because it's a really good job to have in Taiwan and people tend to make it a lifetime career, which usually means you get really knowledgable staff in economy class.

They're not going to sit and panzy to you like some of the other Asian airlines because of the culture in Taiwan is much more open and less based on servitude to the customer. It's like getting a US flight attendant but much more attentive and good-looking. I've never seen a cow on China Airlines. These guys have really crappy schedules. They work way too long and sometimes they don't even get a day off at home for weeks. My guy just came home from working 10 days straight.

Yeah, sometimes they can get snippy, especially if you are vagrantly rude. I think some customers can often be quite rude, because they are used to the idea of Asian airlines kissing ass for economy passengers, or at least the idea of it. Singapore Airlines is so so, I think, the girls are a not that atractive. Anyway I always hear stories from them about crazy passengers. They always try their best to do what's right because they get reported. If you ask for a comment card, write on it, and turn it in, they get reported and I can't tell you how many times I've been asked to review report responses, or had to get shouted at because my dude got reported. The flight attendants get yelled at by their group supervisors and the flight attendants get messed about being reported. Most of the time they get reported for things they can't control.

If you want to be a nice guy, ask for a comment card, get the flight attendant's ID number and name, they will gladly give it to you, and write something honest about their service. They get a copy of what you wrote, and it's another gold star on their record.

Also, if you really want to tick them off, ask for instant noodles. Ask once, ask twice, keep asking for instant noodles. They hate it, because it's a freebie and they don't consider it part of their job but I think you'll probably get it service with a smile anyway, because they are really all quite professional.

Also, you can ask for free playing cards on the flights! They give away free playing cards, this year the cover of the cards is based on the horoscope signs. They're quite cool.
