On China Airlines seats are comfy. Touch screen and entertainment was good. Service was excellent with a smile. Great value after all especially taking into consideration that price is relatively cheaper then other carriers. Joined up with their frequent flyers and will definetly fly with them again. Too many interruptions/announcements on board.

This trip was LAX-TPE-BKK and CNX-TPE-LAX, Economy class, late November 2008. LAX to TPE was a nice new 747-400 with IFE in the seatbacks, a comfortable trip with no problems, above-average food and professional and personable cabin staff. The IFE system froze up just as we reached Hokkaido but was back up and running after a reboot that took roughly 45 minutes. The TPE to BKK leg was significantly worse - an older 747-400 that was clean but lacked the IFE (on a three-hour hop this was not a p ...

Relatively cheap long-haul airline for flights between Europe and Southeast Asia. Relatively good service, albeit their cabin crews could use some whisking around by their upper management directors. Older Jumbo Jets fleet. Comparable to Martin Air or LTU in terms of USA-bound flights.

We flew from Sydney to Taipei and then from Taipei to LA. It seems as though this is the route which you are guaranteed to get the AVOD systems. I was extremely surprised at how good this airline is. The AVOD was excellent and without it would have made the trip drag on. The planes were in excellent condition and the flight attendants were always willing to help. The food was also pretty good with basic food such as rice with pork or chicken. I think a lot of the complaints are due to the fact ...

If you want a nice service with good food and warm friendly crew then fly with Emirates or Etihad - they are hugely better and not much different in price!!

Staff were very unfriendly!!! On a 12 hour flight even after asking 5 times an extra drink never arrived. Aircraft was old and shabby, tv was terrible, old unpopular films, bad quality picture and sound!! Leg room was very cramped. Food was unedible. At arrival at check out (the first on 50 people) asked for aisle seat, we were told there were none available, very abruptly. On board aircraft was half empty!!! Would never fly with them again!!!

JFK-TPE-KUL Business Class. Great service. It was a great experience. Staff and service were great. We flew KUL-TPE-JFK economy class, that was a good trip. We know what to expect in economy class. The airline put us up for the evening in a good hotel (City Suites) with meals and transportation included. Staff at the airport and hotel were very helpful. The only downside was that the aircraft 747-400 from TPE-JFK didn't have individual video and the projector in our area of the plane didn't work ...

Flying on a 747 from Taiwan to Amsterdam business class I couldn't believe the seats only reclined a little and that my only entertainment option was to watch a handful movies with no ability to pause or play as required.......I'm sure the ticket price was cheap though........

This airline has the unfortunate problem of people thinking it is "China Air". In fact China Air is a Chinese state airline and having lived i can tell you that it is pretty bad! However, "China Airlines" is a Taiwanese airline which has a blighted past safety record. The benefit to us is that they are now cheap and trying hard to impress. I like this airline and fly with them many times, both in economy and business. Both classes are excellent for what you can get at a similiar price. So ignore ...

We flew First Class from Beijing to SFO. The seats were very comfortable and since we were the ONLY passengers, it was heaven having the complete First Class cabin to ourselves. The rest was bad. The service was minimal to say the best. Very little interaction. The food was good but the portions were so small I thought the main course was an appetizer. The dessert selection was a joke - one small 'special Beijing' cake and nothing else. No liqueurs, very limited and low end liquor, no port or ...

All in all, it was fine for me, but not for my companion. The only big problems were aircraft-related. We had a stroke of good luck on the return flight: the Airbus was unavailable, so we had to "settle" for a Boeing 747. The flight home was quite comfortable, even though the plane was full and I was wedged into a middle seat. We would fly China Air again.

Flew business class from Gatwick to Taipei via Schipol and Bangkok. Planes were immaculate, staff superb, champagne chilled. All in all superb. Great food, excellent staff, superb service, fantastic lounge in TAipei and Bangkok. No bad points,, but had to fly BA from Gatwick to Schipol and Schipol to Gatwick, and BA are not very good in my opinion..

The ticket price was excellent, but they must improve on the human factor their staff. They all need to improve their ways of talking. Even the cabin announcements in English were pathetic! Boarding was a kindergarden treat; had to present my boarding pass 3 times and still they forgot to take my flight coupon. Then one chinese staff came to my seat and made me feel like a criminal, trying to cheat the airline. No apology when they found out that my ticket was found already! Very embarrassing!!!

Flying on this airline was worse than riding a Greyhound Bus across the Pacific Ocean. I recommend you spend the extra money and use another airline!

I Flew China airlines 4 times this week, and after reading the negative safety and comfort views, I was very very surprised. Each flight was exactly on time and ground and cabin staff were professional, courteous and well spoken in English. The aircraft was SPOTLESS and smelt very fresh. The crew made economy passengers feel as royalty. Some distinguishable positives include: Paramount Touch screen In flight entertainment system Exterior camera foot massage roller/ rest Cabin service and R ...

Although the cheapest way to get to Thailand from Europe this is definitely not the way to travel. Pay a bit extra and you will be well rewarded.

After reading all the bad reviews on this airline after I purchased tickets to travel from Australia to the US I was alarmed and very nervous about flying with them. The fact was all this stuff I was reading was unfound in my case. We flew from Sydney to Taipei and return in a new Airbus and from Taipei to Los Angeles and return in a modern 747 aircraft. Both aircraft were extremely clean and both had VOID video systems in them with excellent choices of movies. The real surprise was th ...

For a 10 hour flight in the modern day I expected to have a choice of TV shows/films and radio stations. However the China Airlines plane was very old and there were only cinema style screens with poor picture quality and and the way back the sound kept cutting out. The radio stations had no popular western music either. On the outbound journey the lights above our seats didn't work and we had to make do with a torch. Also my friend was seated next to an emergency exit which bulged inward, l ...
