Good Points: Built like a tank this is the deck of choice for longevity.
Quartz pitch throughout all - + 8 pitch ensures the most stable pitch when beat matching. With .001% wow and flutter it's the quietest deck out. This is a deck that will last you the rest of your natural born life and hand it down to your kids too. Industry standard and still a top choice for all serious DJ's this is one that you can rely on (even when buying used).

Bad Points: Nothing has changed in 20+ years on this deck. No straight tone arm, not pitch lock options, no reverse, and has a lower torque than the TTX by Numark, PDX by Vestax, and STR8 150 by Stanton. But do you really need all that torque? Still pricey, more options on the others at a lower cost than this deck.

General comments: This is the only deck I would even suggest buying used. No other deck has the reputation of reliability as the Technics SL1200. This is built to last, and is respected by every DJ from Jazzy Jeff to the kid in his basement hoping to be Jazzy Jeff. There's nothing better than knowing the same deck you practice on is the same deck you'll be using in the clubs or in the DMC's.
If this is not an option to you take a close look at the Stanton T120 or STR8 150's or the Vestax PDX2000 MKII. BUT STAY AWAY FROM NUMARK!!! Too many problems, I've owend Numarks and they don't compare.
