“Take care of data when starting to use BT mobile”

Being already on BT Broadband, the rates for BT Mobile were reasonable, especially for the phone I wanted to use. However, I discovered an issue of which that others should beware. When I inserted the SIM, the phone automatically used 4G to download my purchased software from Google playstore. The data download far exceeding the allowance for the tariff I had chosen, so I had to pay extra. “just awful”

Moved from EE about 3 months when I changed phones. Huge mistake. Call quality is just awful. Called BT support and 2 out of the local 3 masts - the 2G and 3G ones are down for maintenance. If I can't connect to the 4G mast then its nada. Today I just realized they don't have any roaming packs! To be honest I just assumed as a major provider that they were available. “Avoid at all cost!”

I recently switched from EE to BT as the deal was the same but half the price, it is the biggest mistake I could have made! The signal continuously drops off, no matter if I'm at home or at work. For some reason all my data allowance was used up within two weeks, this never happened with EE ( part of the reason for switching was that I was paying £10 pm and still had data and text left over ). “Mobile calls to 0870 numbers”

Be very careful when calling 0870 numbers on BT mobile. BT charge an astonishing 30p/min access charge on top of the charge made by the reciever of the call. I recently paid 43p/min to a UK destination on a mobile! Rated as poor because of the excessive charges… Read Full Review

“Excellent 4g speeds, great signal”

Nothing bad to say about BT whatsoever. Ordered the £13 a month package 500 mins, unlimited texts and 2g data. Qualified for £5 month discount because I have BT broadband so it works out at £8 month. Sim came next day with text updates. I was on Giffgaff which constantly dropped signal, the '4g' was excruciatingly slow and call quality terrible. i initially filled in my details to get bt mobile, after 8 days i changed my mind, the sim pack arrived during this time, i never opened it or even looked at, i contacted them and said i wish to cancel. they charged me for the month, when i queried this, they said they would issue a refund. “Outstanding speed”

I was with Giffgaff and I was getting dismal 4g speeds, around 0.1Mps at peak times. I paid £15 a month for 4gb of data. I was completely fed up so decided to change to BTs £20 20Gb package Firstly I live in the sticks, in a valley and get perfect 4g. With download speeds of around 30Mbs. I go inside my house which has 2ft thick solid stone walls and still get 4g around 9Mbs. BT have now bought EE so speeds and signal coverage can get better. Beware of BT mobile's massive hidden data & call charges. You MUST READ THIS if you ever consider a BT mobile SIM card. I got charged additional £100 for my first bill which came as rude surprise. Since realised that countless unsuspecting victims have found themselves in similar situation which is not informed at any stage before you sign on with BT. I had been with O2 since it was Bt Cellnet, new on the block BT Mobile offered a really good deal if you already had Bt Broadband. Well it would have been good if it worked. At home I can not make or receive calls, if I send a text I have to walk around the outside of the house until it sends, I receive texts that were sent the previous day. “Oh - how I would love to be able to recommend BT mobile”

I have always been loyal to BT. I use them for my home line and Broadband and have the unlimited packages for both. So when I was offered a good deal on BT mobile I transferred my 4 lines without hesitation and attempted to Port my old numbers. Admittedly 3 lines are working well. Just been charged £600 per gig for going over my data limit which equates £3,309.4 for a few Sponge Bob Square Pants. Yes thats a whopping £3K for watching some cartoons in the camper van while it was rainging. We were even abroad we were in a campsite just outside Canterbury. It's my 4th day with BT Mobile and I must say the switch from my EE pay monthly to a sim only contract has been straight forward with no glitches and I got to maintain my number. Everything has been hassle free. Unfortunately I did not know BT Mobile is piggy backing on EE network so I'm facing the same coverage problems I get when I'm at home. “Terrible Customer Service”

I would not recommend BT Mobile to anybody. The calls drop continuously and if you go over your data allowance they charge £0.50/mb! Last month one of our members of staff accidentally used an extra 660mb which has resulted in a £330 charge. After complaining to BT that this charge is totally unreasonable they told me to refer to section 10 part 2 etc of our welcome letter that states the charges. I got a £3,309.4 BT Mobile bill fro going over my data allowance by 5.4gig watching cartoons with the kids while camping in the rain
they charge 50per meg or a whopping £600 per gig
its absolutely scandalous how they can do this !!

especially when a new deal is £40 per month for 10 gig

I left EE's network in 2013 for a cheaper SIM-only deal on Giffgaff after being with EE themselves since 1997. However after becoming very rapidly disillusioned with O2's network coverage I came back to EE's network on Virgin Mobile's MVNO offering.
