Der Ring des Nibelungen - Wagner - Since no one performance or interpretation is cited here, I speak to the work itself. This titanic Rorschach of dramatic and psychological nuances has no parallel in world art. And, musically, it develops a language never before heard or known. Its influence on the theater that came after it, especially film, is unparalleled. Even today, a century and a half after its first performance, world culture has still not entirely assimilated its vast impact. (read more)
