Good Points: View finder tilts.
Bad Points: S L O W... It is impossibly low to turn on and lock on to an image
General comments: My last camera was a Olympus OM2s. The Nikon Coolpix 995 "camera" can not hold a candle to the old one. Not as good as a image and so slow. the menu take for ever to change items on it. My Olympus, I could pick up and look through the viewfinder and shoot. This I have to turn on and wait. Then if your subject is moving it is almost impossible to get a sharp picture. With a tripod the pictures are acceptable if subject isn't moving. There is almost no chance of using manual if any thing in the subject is alive and breathing.
I am comparing this to my Olympus since it is what I replaced with the 995.

The Nikon Coolpix 995 is a very easy camera to use and create superb results. Close up quality is excellent and the rotating body makes taking shots way above your head a practical possibility - great for those group shots in a crowded room.

Nikon Coolpix 995 - Now had the camera nearly 3 years and it has been excellent. By today's standards it's a really well-built, solid camera, it's not quite as fast to start up as some of the latest digitals but once you get used to this it's not a problem and I have always found the image quality excellent. We also have a Nikon 2100 and Canon A40 in the family and we have had been really pleased with these although they don't have the build quality of the 995.

Had this camera now for over 5 years and have pretty much got used it. The majority of my time I use it for macro (butterfly chasing) ... I know, pretty sad arn't I !!! The macro on this camera never ceases to amaze - I have some fair photos on my homepage http://www.stevebb.com which I am pretty proud of for a 3.34 megapixel camera. With the ability to get within 2cm of a subject it is amazing what detail you reveal. However, the downside I have found is the flash is useless in macro (expecte ...

My previous camera was a Kodak DC240. It's fundemental problems were mis-fired shots and bad dithering when the picture should have had blended colour. So in the end, it had to go.
The Nikon Coolpix 995 is an AMAZING digital camera. It achieves this on many levels. No only is it lighter than my aging Kodak, but the picture quality and crispness in colour tone is unsurpassed.
I mulled over many high-end digital cameras but chose the Nikon fundementally for picture quality and the fact i ...

A perfect all round digital camera. Compact and light enough to carry anywhere. Good exposure almost every time. Good macro. 4X Optical zoom. Very high resolution. Nikon claim it is not compatible with the IBM MicroDrive, but it works both with the 340MB and 1GB drives!

If you're looking for semi pro digital camera, the nikon coolpix 995 is highly recommended... I have compared this to Canon G1 and Sony P1 which are almost at the same level, but not as brilliant as this NIKON Coolpix 995.
