Good Points: Great image quality, flip screen, two custom modes.
Bad Points: Semi-short battery Life, no RAW support
General comments: Canon PowerShot A80 - This camera is excellent. I use it all the time. I use rechargeable NiCad batteries to fix the short battery life.

The Canon PowerShot A80 is as solid as a rock, has full control as in shutter and aperture priority and full manual. Recently bought a Sony P200 because of pocket size but are already missing the flexibility of the Canon. Also it takes the AA batteries, which if you buy rechargeables they seem to last forever and you never get stuck as they are so widely available. Never used much, about 2 million pixels although it has 4, 2 seemed to print up to A4s. Get the A95 which is upgraded and the same p ...

Bought this camera after much searching and reading reviews like this one and was not dissapointed.
It took some searching to locate the camera and it seems the A85 is not a replacement for the A80. The A80 is a replacement though for the A70.
Has never let me down and takes great quality photos (close up's look very professional) very easily from such a small compact camera.
Accompanying book is easy to read and camera easy to use but I find I just leave it on Auto and now and again use ...

The Canon PowerShot A80 was my next purchase after the A20. Optics are fine: barrel distortion on WA and pincushion on tele but sharp. Noise in dark shadows can be fixed with better exposures and lower EI, so yes, although you can point and shoot, you should really get familiar with all the many delightful features that you bought. 4 megapixels is lots for the real world, 3.2 is probably optimum unless you're earning a living off the camera. The little video film feature is charming and novel. ...

I have been very pleased with the PowerShot A8. It is my first digital camera and I would not want to go back to a film camera now. The image quality and ease of use are excellent and it has given us a great deal of pleasure. The only surprise has been the high battery consumption. I assume that this is similar for all digital cameras. Having replaceable batteries means that I don't have to remember to keep recharging, carry a recharger or find somewhere to recharge. AA batteries are relatively ...

Before I write this text, let me make one thing absolutely clear. I love this Canon PowerShot A80 camera for what it is. However, I am used to 35mm SLR's so I guess it is a bit of an unfair comparison. But still.
I bought my A80 digital camera a year ago with the intention of dabbling in digital when I was wondering whether D-SLR's would be the way to go in my career. The first few months of owning the A80 were great, everything about the camera impressed me and I reviewed it many times giving i ...

This Canon PowerShot A80 digital camera is well made, though is slightly heavier and larger than some competitors. The image quality is generally excellent. In auto mode it gives generally very good results, though for some applications better results are obtainable by some of the other settings. For example, close ups of faces can be brought into sharper focus, though the interface is slightly cumbersome. Some users prefer to use the viewfinder, which means that the display can be switched off ...
