    Good Points: Good cut

Bad Points: Wasn't what I'd asked for!

General comments: So Valentines day this year me and my boyfriend had taken the day off work to spend together. We were off to do a bit of shopping first and then out for a nice romantic meal that night. I hadn't kicked any kittens or robbed any old people so I didn't see this unexpected bout of karma heading my way! When walking past the Toni and Guy training academy I was stopped by some girl asking if I wanted a free hair cut. Well I was a bit nervous and asked if it would be a student and she told me no, it would be someone on an advanced course. OK I thought, why not! So in I went, I talked over with this girl what I wanted - I was growing my hair so really just a trim. She wanted to put some layers in and a fringe. I've never liked having a fringe because my hair gets all curly and fly away if there's the slightest hint of rain! She some how convinced me that my hair was perfect for the type of fringe she had in mind, then she asked me to come back in an hour! Well an hour later I came back. My boyfriend was offered a free cut as well so off he went. Without even asking me this apparently ditzy girl started back combing my hair. When I asked what she was doing she told me how she had to put my hair into some kind of weird beehive first as part of her exam. I was a bit annoyed as in total this took around 1 1/2 - she failed this part and it was my hairs fault apparently! Then she began the cut. I started to get concerned when I realised they all had a set 10 cuts or so that they had to do to complete the course. So when I thought I could have whatever cut I wanted, I was totally wrong, I'd get whatever she had left to do to complete her training! The poor girl sat next to me walked out in tears when they cut her hair to look like something you'd find on Lego men! I couldn't see the picture of the cut my hairdresser was doing for me, probably just as well! About 2 hours later my boyfriends cut was finally finished - I'm not joking it took the girl around 3 hours to trim his hair! But I was still having mine done. The whole thing took around 5 hours in total. What did I think of it? Well she cut off WAY more than we'd agreed without even consulting me, telling her manager that she'd had to for the style to work as I'd had layers. Grrr! I'd been growing it out for years and now she'd got scissor happy and snipped it all off to well above my shoulders. Not only that but she then styled it into something that even a super model would struggle to pull off! I went home and cried and didn't go out for our Valentine meal! To be fair, the cut it's self was very good and once I'd washed it and re-styled it, it did grow on me. Would I go again? No way!

The prices at Toni and Guy were very keen for what I can only describe as a luxurious place, for highlights and a cut with the most senior people was £120 I have paid that before in a local salon.I am looking forward to going back.

I went to Tony and Guy Oxford on Saturday and had my usual hairdresser. i am growing my hair out from an old style into long hair. However on this visit for a trim - I feel as though the hairdresser has scalped me - leaving me with thin razored ends and a style which is shorter than when i first had my hair cut short - I feel so awful, i can only hide my hair under a hat - i feel physically sick and everyone who sees it, says the hairdresser made a mistake. Well, I feel very depressed, i went ...

This is the second time using Toni and Guy and first time used a trainee and started off with long hair but after several failed attempts to get a style I ended up with a boys haircut and it has taken 5 years for it to grow to shoulder length. They give the impression that they're the best but in my experience it really is a hit or miss risk you play when using these guys.

I went to toni and guy as I presumed that as it was abit more pricey it was a better quality of service with more highly trained hairdressers. I have never left a hair dressers happy before so I was hoping this time would be different. When I went in it seemed like a nice place, quite energetic environment and it seemed really clean and friendly. I didn't have to wait too long before I was taken through to have my hair washed and conditioned and then seated infront of one of the stylists. I show ...

I went for a change of hairstyle to the Rochdale salon and was amazed at the standard of service of which was of such a high standard, the staff are all very friendly and my hairdresser is one of the nicest persons I have met, my haircut was fantastic and I enjoyed a wonderful shampooing and amazing head massage. My wife and I are now regular clients at Toni and guy. They say in life that you get what you pay for and going to Toni and Guy is worth every penny!!

I walked in to Toni and Guy Northampton, sat with the top stylist and said do what you want. I am fussy with my hair so we discussed what I don't like. I walked out with the best haircut I have had in a long time. He explained in great detail what he planned on doing and if there was anything I wasn't happy with. I will definitely be going there again. communication as with any hairdresser is the key.

I went to one of the two Toni and Guy salons in Oxford city centre (the larger one). I'm a guy and so had to wait a little longer for a stylist who had experience dealing with mens cuts which made me feel a little more confident about it. I went in with little idea of what I wanted and had hoped the experienced stylist would find something new that I liked. I can only describe what I got as a mullet, long at the back with an odd looking short fringe. I have read a few comments from Toni and Guy ...

I went to the Toni and Guy in Staines and it was by far my worse experience with a hairdresser, considering the person who cut my hair was a 'top stylist'. I am not sure where she got her qualification from but what I do know is that she needs to go back and get another one. She had no clue what-so-ever what she was doing and and the whole haircutting experience lasted around 15 minutes. I really regret paying for the haircut, I couldn't really tell what she had done to my hair because it almo ...

Generally, a good standard of service and a reasonable hair cut and colour is provided. The cost of a hair cut and colour is quite expensive and the hairdressers will try and talk you into buying their products - must be on commission basis. If you do want something specific and it is not on their training schedule forget it.

I went to Tand G in Northampton because i tried every single salon here and they are all bad.I have had my long, thick hair of old ruined beyond recognition by some amateur 'stylists' in the past. There is a hairdressing school here and when 'stylists' are 'qualified'they open up salons in empty properties all over Northampton, so have very little experience.I thought Tand G would be different. The receptionist looked me up and down like i was some kind of freak, she seemed bored in her job. I sh ...

Love toni and guys of basingstoke. have tried lots of other salons but i'm always disappointed and return to toni and guys. the colour and cut always lasts at least three months, so even though pricey i don't have to go as often. nicola always knows the best cuts for my hair and i walk away feeling gorgeous. thanks

I'm surprised to see that people have had negative experiences with this chain of salons as I've always been impressed with the service at the Deansgate branch in Manchester. When I want a new look, I want someone to suggest what's best for my hair type, suits my face shape, what's hot etc and a lot of stylists I've experienced in the past don't really do this. As someone with hair that's difficult to tame; trips to the hairdressers have on many occasion been beyond disappointing - I've left wit ...

I went to Staines branch of Toni & Guy. Only 4 weeks previously I had my hair cut at the Slough branch into a classic bob and finally all the layers were out, it was a perfect cut and I was pleased, it was cut by a junior stylist at the Slough branch. On the day I flew out on holiday I had business to do in Staines and so decided to go to the Staines branch to have my hair cut. You could clearly see the cut still from 4 weeks previously, I explained I wanted it tidied up and a little bit shorte ...
