Good Points: Budget-priced and packed with zombie / redneck horror and gore.

Bad Points: A little slow-paced at the beginning. Not the best script and acting. No special featues except a trailer.

General comments: Mutant - Synopsis: "Run off the road while on their vacation, brothers Josh and Mike (Wings Hauser, Lee Montgomery) discover a hideously maimed human corpse. When they take Sheriff Will Stewart (Bo Hopkins) to the body, all that remains are a few drops of an amber toxin that kills by devouring red blood cells - nearby chemical plant has been illegally dumping toxic waste outside of town. When Mike is attacked and taken from his bed, Josh and local girl Holly Pierce (Jody Medford) search for him. Instead they find more bodies. Not all the victims are dead. Contaminated and needing human blood to live, crazed mutants attack Josh and Holly. Besieged by mutants, they take refuge in a gas station. As the deadly circle closes in, Will arrives with reinforcements from out of town. Josh and Holly are saved, but the toxic threat remains". The film screams Night Of The Living Dead meets Deliverance throughout. Rather slow-paced from the start, it takes a while before we finally get going on the 'zombie' plot, but when it kicks in, the film starts to race through. We end up in a Assault On Precinct 13 style of situation with zombies and Deliverance style rednecks everywhere. The make-up and special effects aren't bad at all. The script is a little corny, but aren't they always? Acting...well I've seen worse, but then I've seen a hell of a lot better! But then once the film gets going, it's packed with entertainment and horror. Released through Hollywood DVD, it retails at a budget price of around £5.99. No special features except for a trailer, all you're getting for your money is the film itself. It runs for 95 mins approx and is availiable on Region 0 PAL. All in all, it's well worth picking up, especially for the price. The film's a stupid zombie / redneck flick that you'll enjoy.
