“Cringy but ultimately amusing”

Perhaps three stars is a wee bit stingy, as I have seen this film more than a few times. I grudgingly admit that it makes me giggle in parts but is so frustrating to watch! It becomes a little predictable from the middle of the film onwards, and De Niro's character is so extreme he is unbelievable. Ben Stiller's character as the prospective son-in-law to De Niro's crazy 'Jack' makes me want to take him by the shoulders, shake him vigorously and tell him to 'man up' and stop being ridiculous.... Ben Stiller plays the eager to impress soon to be son-in-law and Robert De Niro
plays the future Father in law from hell who is an ex CIA agent who wants to vet everything that (Greg) Gaylord focker does in his life to ensure that he is a suitable person to marry his daughter and enter into his self invented trusted circle of friends and family.

I only watched this film a couple of months ago even though it has been out for some time. I found it really funny and witty. This film has pushed Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro up my favourite actors list. I liked all the characters and am looking forward to the sequel 'Meet the Fockers' (read more)
