Good Points: Had my XPS Gen3 since it came out, wicked machine..Not even upgraded it, it's all as is..XPS Gen3Intel 3.2Ghz(single core) HT2x512MB 533Mhz? DDR II RAM2x160 WD raptor SATA HDDs running stripe.ATI X800XT with 256Mb RAM?SB live 5.1 sound with speker setupNice 17" TFT an the normal mouse an keyb..It's the best purchase we ever made, I'm currently look too add in another two 500GB Raptor HDDs (£65 each +/- ) an max out the RAM with another 2x1GB DDR II(£15-20 each) As for the GFX card, I'm leaving it alone, runs everything I need an I've been banging on all the new games like this thing is a console :)Runs a treat..
Bad Points: Only bad point is the sound card, it's buggy always has been either with clean drivers from the sound card maker or dells repacked set of drivers..I've tried allot, never really got around it all.. saying that I've got used to it dipping then getting loud sometimes.. or the mixer randomly crashes, even lists not installed.. Butyou can stiill listen to music an play games fine :)So just a small bug, maybe changing the card after all these years, might be a better bet.. but it's not a real hassle for me :) **Also my Dell 17" TFT flashes sometimes, then not for days, but thats an error on part of the TFT not the XPS itself :)
General comments: Wicked computer, even though hassle with sound card..I would have brought it even knowing the sound card issue was there, well happy with mine :)Would even like to buy another XPS in the coming years, but I can see this one lasting me a while :)

I ended up with the Dell Dimension XPS GEN 3 after a bad expereince with an Evesham system. I Wanted a new computer just prior to Christmas and I purchased the Evesham. The second I plugged it in I knew I couldn't live with it, the noise from the machine was horrendous - back it went. I was a little hesitant about choosing another computer - but I phoned Dell for a quote on an XPS Gen 3 (I only wanted the box not the peripherals) and was given a very very good price - much less than that shown ...

I ordered the Dell Dimension XPS GEN 3 - 3.6ghz, 3GB ram (I do a lot of multitasking and media work), dual raptors HDD, x800 xt gfx card 256mb and this thing literally flies. Every game I have run on here gets perfect FPS on very high settings. Doom 3 constant 60 all on high running 1024x768, HL2 constant 100 all on max settings at 1024x768 and Counterstrike Source 80-300 (varies) all on high settings. I am extremely pleased with this rig, not just for gaming but for everyday computer tasks my w ...

The Dell Dimension XPS GEN 3 is a beast of a machine, perfect for a PC gamer or even home use. However it all depends on the type of specification you order with it, I ordered mine with a 3.2ghz pentium 4, 400gb hard drive, 1024MB ram, 256MB ATI radeon X800 XT graphics card, 12X DVD/writer, sound blaster audigy 2 XPS plus 5.1 surround sound and the Dell 17" LCD TV/Monitor. This machine is so quick it's unbelievable, it can be easily upgradeable and at £2000+ I think it is a bargain, it wil ...
