Good Points: Three classic B-Sides and a limted edition grass mat for the CD.
Bad Points: Unfortunetly no vinyl release, but that's just nit-picking!
General comments: With a one-fingered wave good-bye to East West, the Wildhearts released the 'Sick Of Drugs' single on Warner Music in April of 1996; a month before the 'Fishing For Luckies' re-release hit the shops which included the A-Side track. The single soared up to number 14 in the UK Charts, making the highest position so far for the British rockers.
The single only came out on CD and cassette formats. The CD was released with a limited edition grey mat for the cover that displayed the band name and "S.O.D.". A sticker on the CD case gave instructions for moistening the mat which is impregnated with grass seeds. You will then be able to grow your own grass. A nice little gimick, but obviously the whole unspoiled item is a bit of a collectable now. It was also released in a standard slimline CD single case without the grass mat.
The track listing is as follows:
1. Sick Of Drugs
2. Underkill
3. Bad Time To Be Having A Bad Time
4. Sky Chaser High
All three B-Sides are of a very high standard, which is standard for these guys. 'Underkill' is a personal favourite of mine, with chunky riffs and awe inspiring melodies. 'Sky Chaser High' is a bit of a smokers song, whilst 'Bad Time To Be Having A Bad Time' is a classic Wildhearts style anthem.
All in all, an outstanding release from the Wildy boys. If you don't already own this single, I'd recommend trying to hunt it down. Internet auction sites are usually the best for this sort of item.
