“Warm welcome and beautiful food”

★★★★★

written by durhamcow on 11/11/2017

Stopped at this little pud for our lunch yesterday when I had my Mum out for the afternoon. We had a warm welcome from the moment we arrived, staff very helpful, shown to a table and told about the different menu's. The tables were lovely and clean and the pud was lovely and warm and very quiet, this pud is beside a busy road with traffic lights outside and we could not hear any noise. The meals were served nice and hot and regular check were made by the friendly staff. I have intolerance to dairy and egg and the kitchen staff were very helpful in helping me with my dessert choice. Overall a very good meal in a lovely little pub at a reasonable price.

“Great Little Pub”

★★★★★

written by suehutchings on 27/08/2015

This was our second visit. Our friend and neighbour had recommended it and we weren't disappointed. It is a lovely pub. All of the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is excellent and there is plenty of it! We weren't rushed and it was a very relaxed meal.

We live in Swindon and have family in the Matlock area. We often go out for a meal with them at the Butcher's when we visit. It is friendly ,serving good fresh food with unhurried service. Highly recommend a visit.

As soon as you walk through the door of this lovely quaint pub you get a warm welcome. You are not pressured into taking your seat like other eating outlets, it's just totally relaxing.Bar and food selections are excellent,i have tried lots of different dishes and all are piping hot and cooked too perfection. Then theres the desserts and i can highly recommend the Plum pie it is without doubt a taste sensation.Enough about my review go and visit, you will not be dissapointed.

“fantastic pub for any occassion”

★★★★★

A cosy, typically british pub with friendly owners, staff and locals alike. The food is brilliant - homemade pies, AMAZING roast beef and desserts such as [the infamous] jamaican rum trifle are all served with a smile at fantastic prices! Having been to a few parties hosted at the Butchers Arms, the buffet provided is also fantastic, and as the pub is so friendly and welcoming, any party hosted here is sure to be a lively, friendly event! The pub has had a makeover recently, which has given it a refreshed feel.

Great little pub, so good infact that we keep going back regularly.
Most of the food is home cooked and most are under £6.00, not bad seeing as you get loads.
Usually to full to eat a dessert but when we do they are also very nice.
Both the chef and the barman are briliant.
Our only recomendation would be to do up the decor.

Well worth a visit.

“Overall The Butchers Arms is a great place to be....”

★★★★★

written by Honest Ken on 11/06/2008

Overall The Butchers Arms is a great place to be. Often has pensioners in at lunchtimes so it must be good! Walking parties often stop of here but I think they appreciate a call before large parties arrive to help cater. Don't be put of either by the welcome you get from the fellow behind the bar. Can appear a little cool towards customers at first but he really is good at the job and very friendly in reality. The chef has a lively approach to customers and always tries to please and will listen to special requirements if needed. All in all a great traditional pub where you don't feel out of place no matter what.

“The Butchers Arms is a little pub run by Keith and...”

★★★★★

written by Martin z on 20/09/2003

The Butchers Arms is a little pub run by Keith and Andrew (who is the chef)all the food is home made and cooked especially for you when you order it, it arrives beautifully presented. The choice of menu is superb. Once a month they have a "free" night where the food is free they have had themes such as American night, curry night, pie and pea supper night and many more. All you have to pay for is the drinks, once you visit here you will want to return again and again and will be made most welcome on the free nights, (which is usually displayed when they are taking place in the bar)....this month's free night is themed on chocolate heaven where you will find some of the best home made desserts anywhere in the county!
Cost is VERY reasonable as an example 4 of us ate there the other Saturday and the bill came to £17-50, so go on give it a try.
