The design for the Zanussi ZX99/5 is good but noticed that the bottom shelf where I housed my cartons of milk, snapped off when the fridge/freezer door was opened and the milk topped onto the plastic shelf- maybe the design needs to tighter to incorporate cartons of milk up to 6 lires in size. For the last year I have nearly every day had to manually turn off the temperature alarm that annoyingly bleeps constantly and for no apparent reason. Ultimately, i have bought a new Samsung... i bought my zx99/5si for £400 in october 2004, during christmas 2005 we noticed that food was spoiling in the fridge(upper)compartment,contacted zanussi and was told basically to sod off as it was 2 months out of warranty,as i am a technician by trade i had a look myself and found that the defrost timer had failed,£25 later and a manual defrost saw the thing working again, albeit for only 4 months,then a warm fridge again!inspection revealed a failed circulation fan,price for the... bought this model in November 2004 from a small dealer, it was classed as A grade second £299.00 had a few scratches but otherwise perfect and until earlier this year no problems, then it started beeping inconsistantly, usually solved by opening door pressing button, checked manual which indicated temp drop so I assumed that it was due to door not being closed properly especially as it righted itself when door opened and closed then over last...

Bought the ZX99/5SI in December 2003 and within the first 18 months it developed an annoying beep during the night. Frustratingly this was just outside the warranty period and Zanussi wanted £380 to replace the compressor, we eventually settled on £180 but within 18 months the temperature beepers were back to annoy us. Food and freezer temeratures were fine so we have lived with the beeping (and cancelling manually) but now it has packed in. We will not be repairing it. We loved its look... (read more)

£349.99 paid for this model in May 2005,August 2010 the fridge no longer works which makes the fridge freezer useless for a functional kitchen.It has been cared for and not abused.shelves also started to fracture and repairs needed to be made in 2004.Too expensive to replace by buying.
Don't waste your money but hey its a lottery these days on how long electrical goods last no matter what make or model.Get a grip you fat cats and give us proper value for money.

Zanussi Fridge ZRG614SW Absoute Rubbish. It cost £199 and within four months the handle has stress fractures from both screw points and is too weak to open fridge. Contacted Zanussi/Electrolux What a joke Zero customer service tried to tell me that the years guarantee doesn't cover weak plastic handles!
I am waiting to hear from John Lewis but trust me I am going to the small claims to FORCE Zanussi to take responsibility! Absolutely disgusting!

Good for you, fight them! Consumer Direct say if under six months you are entitled to full refund on goods not fit for purpose intended. I have a Zanussi fridge and freezer, side by side. Going onto my 4th handle on fridge in 15 months, now freezer is going. Zanussi say there is no problem.

Starting with the negative, some of the trim broke off fairly easily when hit with an ogject (like a sweeping brush or vac), but didn't look too bad to the naked eye and that's it. Never had an problem with it in 4 years, alarms have gone off but on inspection, things weren't stored correctly or the door wasn't closed properly. Top product. Gave it to my sister when we moved, now I want it back 'cos integrated appliances are too small in comparison!! (read more)

Rubbish. Lasted just 3 years. Spent over £100 on repairs that made no difference. After months of temperature alarms going off all the time including through the night it was eventually just too warm to put anything in. It ended up that the fridge was warmer than the kitchen!!!! (read more)

I found this review very helpful because...I too have this same fridge freezer except mine is 5 years old. I was wondering whether to have it repaired or buy new. I experienced the self same problems, lights flashing, beeping regularly especially when you were in bed. As my gas boiler has just broken down and we are without heat it defiantely is warmer inside my fridge than out. Just had to throw loads of food away that has defrosted! Will defiantely buy new and not a Zanussi.

We had exactly the same problem: beeping every now and again and then, last summer continous beeping. Now it stopped working completely and we just ordered a new one. Not this brand, though... Do not buy it! (read more)

This isn't quite the same model as I had (ZENB9950), but it looks pretty similar. Mine gave up after 3 years as well.
Looks like Zanussi Electrolux are really best avoided if you expect your fridge to last for a reasonable length of time.

it has lost temprature in the fridge compartment almost completely now & thats with me turning it up to 5 ( full) which i should'nt have to do.

bought Zanussi ZX99/5 from john lewis with a 2 year g/tee. on the day the g/tee expired noticed fridge not as cold as normal, turned it up. following day fridge at room temp. freezer still cold. called up zanussi repair people earliest appointment 2 weeks! ... in the meantime the freezer went into complete defrost ruining contents. switched off, then on again, both fridge and freezer now working normally, then zanussi engineer turned up.... took it apart, put it back together,reckoned fan... I found this review very helpful because...My ZX99/5 Fridge freezer purchased from COMET 28/05/05 has now started to cause me major problems.
<br/>18/08/2010 the fridge freezer made an alarming noise which turned out to be the fridge becoming redundant.I cleaned the back as instructed by the manual but the fridge is more than useless.The alarm goes off constantly.The freezer is working so far but i'm not holding hope.
<br/>£349.99 down the pan and another massive carbon footprint inflicted on mother earth as i will have to purchase new again as repair costs are unreal and not effective.Nothing is made to last but we get told to help our enviroment and be aware of our carbon footprint.Zanussi and many other manufacturers need to get a grip and start making items to last much longer.If this means more expensive products that last so be it.Once again greedy fat cats creaming it off the majority who can ill afford luxuries.

After three years of continuous use my Zanussi ZX99/5 fridge freezer is now needing new parts every year which cost around £100 - £200. I just think the freezer is rubbish a and the technical support that comes with it is poor. Not recommended. (read more)

Thought i was making a decent purchase buying the Zanussi ZX99/5. They are usually a reputable brand name. But it has cost an absolute premium. How wrong I was. Never ever again will I be purchasing another zanussi product. Ever!
Not worth the bother, so dont touch it with a barge pole, not even if its free.

Considering the cost and how long it has worked for, I am totally disappointed. I have had all summer without a fridge or freezer. I have had the Zanussi ZX99/5 for just over a year. The fridge boils, and it will not stay cold. An engineer has been every week since June, and replaced several parts, and it only works for 1 or 2 days. If you put food in, the freezer stops working. Looks good, Was quite expensive but thought it would be worth the price due to the good name - Zanussi !!
Temperature keeps failing in fridge. Freezer good. Every few days we have to empty both fridge and freezer and leave for 24 hours then plug in and all is okish for a few days then back to temperature failure again. Asked Zanussi advice by email but no response from them. Would not buy another Zanussu ever!!

I actually like the bottom drawer I can fit so much bread in it. The bottom on the exterior has gone sort of peely & rusty after only 12 months in a brand new kitchen. The Zanussi ZX99/5 often has 'wobblers' where all the lights flash & it beeps all we can do is switch it off & on like a computer!
Leaving it behind when we move house next month thank goodness!

This Zanussi ZX99/5 is perhaps .... no it is definitely my worst ever purchase.Service contact is 0870 rip off call centre to discourage people phoning, service centre does not give technical advice. Unreliable, lost food, alarm going off in night for no reason lots of times, design of drawers leaves a lot to be desired pizza drawer and bottom drawer are ill conceived. (read more)

Took nearly a week for an engineer to come out after my Zanussi ZX99/5 broke and when he did he seems to have no idea on the problem, had to keep checking with the boss what the problem was. Ordered 4 parts in the hope that the problem would be sorted out by one of them. All in all I've been left with no fridge for nearly two weeks, totally unacceptable given the age of the product. i agree poor components and Zanussi after sales is poor cheaper to replace my 3 year old freezer than repair I will never buy Electrolux products AEG Zanussi same company
