I bought the S2 because it reminded me of the Slavia pistols of my youth. Being cheap and Chinese ( the pistol not me) I knew it would require a bit of TLC to get it shooting well. The trigger needed a lot of pressure, which was easy to fix with a little filing on the sear. The sights are awful and were of no use because the barrel needs recrowning, the pellets were flying way high and to the right, so my next job is to take a drill, a brass screw and some valve grinding paste and try to... My son was showing an interest in air weapon sports so as this was going for £15 I bought it for him to plink around and to see how he got on. In my opinion, the SMK S2 .177 is rough looking and after five metres, wildly inaccurate but as a cheap entry level weapon it does the job. Put more than a tin of pellets through it without any loss of power or failure. My son got on with it well and has now moved up to a Crosman 2240. (read more)

The SMK S2 is well made, and cheap. A decent first air pistol, far better than a gat of about the same price, and it has rifled barrel. ,177 is the better cal. Oil the piston before use. Better still, strip the pistol down and tune it up yourself.its worth it. Can be rusty inside and bone dry. (read more)

This gun is basically the B2 of pistols. It even has the same horrible coloured paint on the grip.
The pistol is a basic break barrel. Break the barrel, load a pellet and fire. The accuracy of the gun is not worth having. Can't hit a thing with it. After a few shots the screws begin to fall out. The power is also pretty poor.
In my opinion this pistol is not worth having. Even if it was made accurate, the power wouldn't be able to carry it through.
Stay well clear of this.

Mine hardly ever miss its target at 13m-15m
and can pierce cans easily from same distance
crows don't stand a chance with this air gun very accurate and packs a punch

I recently got the SMK S2 .177 air gun, and I have to say, that for £17 from NM Products, I am impressed!
The power is good for a cheap gun, but it needs regular maintenance to stay good. I dismantled it and cleaned it, which seems to have made it much more powerful.
The only bad point worth writing about is the poor build quality. Although it is a good gun, it looks as if a child has taken a rifle and been told to file it down into a pistol. The accuracy is quite good, and more than...

This pistol cost new £18.00 and for the money excellent value. I have a Westlake version with plastic grips XS3 in .177 and I thought it would perform the same, well I was wrong. This fires a RWS Geco at consistent 365-370 fps my XS3 330 fps both have Daisy red dot sights the S2 grouped 15mm and XS3 20 mm at 8 mts. I got my SMK S2 the other day off the internet for back garden plinking and I'm very pleased with it. It's cheap but this shows in the build quality. I stripped mine down and cleaned the parts and put a light coating of gun grease on the internals and Bisley gun lube in the barrel and mine works like a fairly high priced one now. All in all I'm very pleased with. I can shoot starlings on my roof with it from 20 meters or less. Hope this helps. (read more)

Hi i'm possibly about to buy a s2 .22 or .177, how powerful would you estimate it too be? As nowhere on the net does it state how powerful it is. How much fps/ ft/ lbs would you say?
Mixed reports on this site and others say it isn't very powerful at all, but is brilliant if you regularly clean/maintain it.

Maybe I just got a very bad one, but in my opinion, if you look at the SMK S2 .177 as a paperweight (and don't mind spending £25 on one, rather than using a tin of beans for around 1/75th of the cost) then it could be quite a good buy.
First impressions weren't good - the woodwork is finished to the same poor standard as the B2 rifle, but somehow it looks much worse on a pistol, probably because you can see it all close up at the same time. The metalwork is of a similar crude standard;...

The SMK S2 .177 pistol is amazing value for money but the build quality, as you would expect for 25 pounds, is not perfect. My pistol was reasonably powerful at first, but after a 100 shots or so it became too weak to penetrate and exit can of beer. I believe this is due to the poor quality oil that is used in production by the Chinese. I dismantled the pistol, cleaned it and coated the cylinder and spring with molybdenum paste, (available on Ebay). It now penetrates a Heinz baked bean can.... (read more)

I took my S2 out of the closet a few weeks back, and took it out. It had been unused since the arrival of my crosman 1377 and now I've modded my 1377 added a new breech and scope it makes a great close range hunter. I must admit when I first got mine it broke quite quicky but I took it all apart polished the insides and put it back together and found that the lock screw in the side which prevents the big one turning has to be removed and u have to tighten the big screw a bit more to get a better seal. I also put a few drops of oil down the barrel to cause a little disealing to increase power a bit. I lent it to my firend and we went out hunting, i had my 1377 and he had my s2. I took a rabbit at 15yards, a damn big one too it fed 3 of use and was lovely. After that, i was happy not to shoot at anything else and put my gun away. My friend however didnt and took a pigeon at at around 10yards up a tree from behind. He was using a .177 hustler needlepoint and it penetrated at the back of its lower neck, not all the way but enough to kill it. I wasnt surprised as I have taken small birds with it and one small rabbit at 10yards (but im not recommending it for rabbits!). The only thing that puts me off it is its accuracy, i was fairly accurate with it with a 80percent hit rate on target within 10yards, but my friend is better, so i decided to give it to him. Im just saying the gun isnt totally rubbish and if you clean it and takje a bit of care it is a great plinker and yes it can be used for very close range pest control.

Thats very true, I had one and I could throw a pellet further.
Written on: 01/03/2005
Look if you take the gun apart, oil and lube the insides up. Do a bit of work on the trigger spring; lighten a tad to improve accuracy. You’re looking at the power of 3.5ftlbs at most. So to get a impact power of 2-2.5ftlbs which is needed to the head to cleanly kill a rabbit, you need to - Limit you shots within 10yards and to rats, starlings, pigeons and small rabbits with headshots and good pointer pellets. Test the pointer with plywood at 10yards to see the best penetration and you can hunt with it and get clean kills. But as for a serious hunter every weekend in the woods, no way, as 10yard shots which you can say that you can definitely hit the target on the head don’t arise that often. But that doesn’t mean it’s not capable.

I dont know what possessed some of you people to even thinking of hunting with such a weak pistol, you should only carry out hunting with weapons producing 8 ft lbs plus, otherwise you will have the police on you for inconsiderate treatment to animals

I've had my SMK S2 .177 for about 6 months now I try to try and find something good to say about everything I review but I can honestly say there is nothing good about this air pistol.
For £25 people may think its an absolute bargain but it really isn't even worth that, the accuracy is appalling, 6 inch groups at 10 meters and this is nothing to do with my marksmanship. I can get pleasing results with any of my other air guns.

Mate you've officially got a duff one. Try tightening the screws on the side by removing the lock screw and then tightening the large one. Also take it apart and lube it up. Also oil the barrel every 50shots with light oil and the gun performs well. Or take it back and swap it.

Written on: 06/09/2004
It does shoot, just nowhere near what it's advertised compared to my Gamo Auto 45 which does produce 3ft/lb shooting 8.2g pellets at 400fps and 6.5g pellets up to 438fps. I would say that the smk is only producing something in between 220-260fps. It's always been like this, apart from the first 20 shots when it was probably doing something like 360fps.

SMK S2 .177 was the first airgun I ever bought, mainly because it was very cheap. although there are no official documents giving the exact power, I would say it isn't all that powerful simply because it does not cause much damage, even to say, cardboard (which it will rarely go through 2 layers of). No scope doesnt mean no hunting. Firstly, with practise and at the range of 10yards which is the limit range for hunting with this gun, you can hit the same spot consistantly. Ive also used the peep sight on my crosman 1377 for starlings and rabbits at close range also. No scope means more practise is needed and many shots that you could take if you had a scope just have to be ignored until a better opportunity arrises.

I'm using Bisley pest control hollow points at about 12 yards and they are great. They hit and kill stone dead from about 12 yards and allow for more room of error because if you don't get a head shot a body shot still stuns them to death. The pellets do cost around a 5€ though.

Bossy ben do you actually own this air pistol as a lot of your information is rubbish, a bird kill from 200yards, the gun will only fire about 160yards max with no wind and you say the pellets pierce a tree to 5cm. I do own one of these and the deepest it will penetrate wood from point-blank is about 4mm.
Written on: 25/08/2004
Looks 2 me as if you have a bad gun. You should take it back to the shop you got it from because mine is brilliant. maybe it’s your gun that’s RUBBISH not my INFORMATION!

You do have the chance of getting a dodgy gun, I got one first which didn’t cock properly, but I took it back and got a better one. I've taken a rabbit with a webley needlepoint at about 10yards. But I must say that 200yards, taking a bird did seem a bit over the top. The gun is a rubbish air pistol though once you've used others like the webley tempest and crosman 1377. I’ve just got a 1377 off eBay for £35 and am looking to sell my s2 for a tenner.
Written on: 02/09/2004
Is that crosman 1377 any good because I have looked at the specs and it says it fires at 600fps, thats more than some air rifles!
Written on: 05/09/2004
Hey danco have you ever shot a webley nemesis, I’ve just purchased one from jsramsbottom.com for £55 compared to the usual £90. It is great, I can shoot one hole groups at 5 meters no problem. The power varies per caliber mine is a .22 which shoots at 300ft/s producing dead on 3ft/lb and the .177 shoots at 385 giving about 2.7ft/lb I also recently bought the 1377 too which I am very pleased with although I have noticed the pumping arm seems a bit loose

As for your review Ben it is a load of rubbish even if I did have a "good" s2 it would still be impossible to kill a bird from 200 yards
Written on: 07/09/2004
Yeah I've tried the Webley Nemesis and the Tempest and their both great pistols and you would expect that for the money. £55 seems like a good deal and I would have gone for it too. I gave my old Webley Nemesis to my cousin, I had used it into the ground and the accuracy never failed to impress. I've kept the Tempest though as a gun is a little more powerful than the nemesis. How much did you pay for your Crosman 1377 as I got one of EBay for 50 dollars around £25 and it’s an older phase two so the pump handle is alright on this? The power is awesome and I haven’t shot an air pistol like it, although a BSA scorpion is probably closest. The UK version however has a limiter hole located on the valve which lets out air after 8 or so pumps therefore the UK and Canadian editions are limited to 495fps in .177 even though they advertise 600fps. Mine however is a US import copy and therefore shots at the 600fps and with a Crosman premier light produces a powerful 5.7ftlbs. It’s the only pistol I take hunting now and a great backpacker.
Written on: 08/09/2004
I paid £73 for my 1377 new from jsramsbottom I had a look on some American sites but after shipping it only worked out a few quid less it is defiantly doing over 500 fps easily ill borrow a chrono and get some results

now about them BSA scorpions my friends dad has one in mint condition that he never uses in .22 I never realised it was that powerful how much would you say is a fair price I'm thinking of offering him £40 although I am staring to build up to many airguns
Written on: 09/09/2004
£40 is definitely worth it and I found a few for around £50 (the cheapest), he may not take £40 for it as its worth a lot more than that in mint but give it a try. If gun in mint condition is worth up to £80, it’s a very powerful gun.

My 1377 is second-hand off eBay and came to 68 dollars which is around £38 including the shipping and insurance. Not bad for a gun which consistently does 535-570 with an 8.8g marksmen pellet.
Written on: 13/09/2004
Borrowed a chrony today and put 20 crosman powa pells 7.9g through the 1377 UK version, the highest velocity was 572fps the lowest was 559fps the average was 568fps. This means on average it is producing 5.6ft/lb
Written on: 13/09/2004
My 1377 (phase 2 US spec) is doing 576fps the chrono shows and with 8gr Daystate FT pellets. I've lightened the spring under the grips that controls the trigger pull and my accuracy has improved. I've oiled it up in the pump cup and the pivot points on the pump, aswell as the trigger mechanism and used Napier pellet oil on my tin of pellets that have cleaned out the barrel and I think has also caused a rise in velocity.
Written on: 14/09/2004
Nice, you want to make sure it’s not doing more than the legal limit though, after you oiled it you doing any modding on yours? I’ve seen some really nice ones on the crosman forum. I’m going to get the custom stock (helps with accuracy) and also paint the pump arm black and add a red dot leaving me with a nice little carabine for those rats and starlings.
Written on: 15/09/2004
yeah I tested it and its doing 6.3ftlbs but if I get the stock will that classify it as a rifle? Anyway I've got the problox mounts u need for scoping it and a 4x20 scope on the way. I've done some trigger work by taking off the hand grips and there’s a spring that controls the trigger pull and cut a quarter off and then stretched it back to the normal size and made it a bit lighter and improved my accuracy. Also I changed the shape of the valve stem using diagrams the crosman forum gave me to allow more air in on each pump to increase power. I highly recommend you do the trigger work as the trigger is the gun main down fall. Anyway my gun is a phase 2 so could be between 5 - 20 years but its in good nick so I’d say closer the 5 mark. I oil the pump mechanism and pivot points on the pump as well as oiling the out side and needed to get a tad of rust off when I got it but now its looks great and performs well good.

How have you set the rear sight? I presume that you’re using the open sight not the peep hole?
Written on: 16/09/2004
I asked the people on the crosman forum a while ago if the 1377 is considered a rifle if you add the stock they said if you were caught the police would go by what model it is but on the advert selling the stock it says converts your 1377 into a rifle. I’m sure that I've read somewhere that here in the UK they go by the length of the barrel I'm not sure what it is but I do know the ratchatcher only just qualifies as a rifle.
At the moment I am using the open sights and getting groups of about 3/4 of an inch at 10 yards but iv ordered a swat force red dot from jsramsbottom which should give it a real nice look and close my groups to about 1/2 an inch
Written on: 18/09/2004
Yeah you will need pro blox mounts that add a dovetail to allow mount to attach to your 1377 otherwise it won’t fit. I'm getting some they only cost around a 10er and then adding a scope to mine. Have you had any rabbits yet with yours?
Written on: 20/09/2004
I haven’t taken a rabbit with mine as of yet I'm planning on using it for rats and starlings on my cousins farm but also as a back up gun for when I go for the rabbits with one of my rifles although if I get a chance I may use the 1377 for the closer shots within 15yards
Written on: 21/09/2004
Yeah I'm doing quite well with open sights I can hit a golf ball from 15yards pretty consistently and getting about the same groupings as you. I'm really pleased with the accuracy. The rifling in yours must be good in yours too, because I've heard a few stories of them being bad. It was a bit of luck for me to get a good one because I got it off eBay and paid for it using paypal and they don’t refund costs of airguns so if it didn’t come I would have been a little stuck.

Also I have used pointers in it but I just really prefer using domes, the accuracy and penetration is great so when I go rabbi ting at the weekend I'm probably going to use my daystate domed FT pellets 8.8gr as they are really good and also I can get some good groupings using the bisley pest control hollow points so may even use them.

I've now ordered an aftermarket breech from Crooked barn.com that comes with a dovetail to mount a scope on already. I'm also going to get a 14' barrel in order to improve power. The o rind in the loading point where the pellet goes the little circular o ring with goes on the part which pushes the pellet in has snapped on mine but I took it apart oiled it and cleaned it on the way, and then created a new one out of tiny carp bait bands and when loaded it is a lot firmer and seals air better whilst shooting so that’s a result. That’s only temp until I get the breech though, but that’s problem going to set me back around £25 plus post so around 32 quid with is a little steep but apparently as it hold the pellet better and closer to the exhaust air valve this makes it a bit more powerful.
Written on: 23/09/2004
sounds good isn’t crooked barn in the US though?? I'm sure there’s someone in the UK that makes the custom breech called T.R.Robb or something do you know how much the custom breech increases velocity? I may order one as I haven’t got any mounts for my red dot yet as long as it doesn’t put it over the limit
Written on: 26/09/2004
No T.R.Robb doesn’t have an email so I can’t ask him but the breeches are not listed on his site. Crooked barn deliver to the UK for about 6 quid and the breech cost about 24 quid so that’s 30 for the breech and the bolt as well sorry. It has the old dovetail so theirs no need for pro blox mounts. I'm doing a bout of work to mine at the moment on the valve and modding it so it can be pumped 15times and allow more air in on each pump. I'm shortening the valve sprong and modding the valve to allow more air in it. I think that will take it up to the limit of 6fpe. The breech won’t take it over the limit but it makes a difference and apparently seals the air better and places the pellet in the barrel better as well as having a scope mount and looking better.
Written on: 28/09/2004
I did all the valve modding yesterday - spring lightening and creating more room in the valve by sawing the plastic piece inside the valve in half. This now allows the valve to stay open longer when firing and there 4 dumping more air. This now allows me to pump 15times and on each pump take in more air. The gun measures now with 7.9 crosman accapells at an average of 588fps bringing it right on 6fpe. At 10 pumps it averages 562fps which brings it to 5.54fpe but I really pump more than 8 times when plinking and will now only pump 15times when hunting. I cant pump more than that as the valve doesn’t stay open that long and when pumping around 17times(which is too much hassle anyway) it leaves air in the valve which isn’t good for it so I keep it at 15times max and only use that when hunting so don’t do it that much.

You should check out the crosman forum tech pages and look at 13xx hotrodding and do all the simple mods that don’t require drills and lathes and stuff and your gun can be brought right on the 6fpe mark and even over if you wish to get in trouble - I don’t so haven’t done anymore. Also I'm really impressed with it now and don’t want to spoil it. I'm getting a Crooked barn breech and spray painting the grips black and finally adding a cheap smk scope as I then don’t have to worry about it if it breaks, then I may upgrade it to a decent one.
Written on: 29/09/2004
Sounds great, if you haven’t got the scope yet you might want to look on jsramsbottom.com he is selling webley silver scopes with an rrp £37 for £17 I have one on my nemesis.

iv been meaning to ask you do you know how your 1377 was shipped from America what company etc? $25? is really cheap to get an airgun shipped I want to get one of the Benjamin 397`s as they are equivalent to £60 new! from America but the shipping ends up been $120 extra an American on the crosman forum offered to ship it to me if I sent it to his house and bought him a tin of pellets but I'm a little sceptical of sending an air rifle to someone I don’t know.

I see what you mean. I got mine from a chap in kansas over eBay. SO after I won the bid it was fairly independent with the seller. On the forum there are always deals going on and there is always the chance of getting scammed but that’s the risk u have to take if you want the gun bad enough. The charges that you mention are iridous as mine was only $24 including insurance. I would look at the classified sales on the forum and see if he has had any other transactions. That’s really the only other way. That forum hasn’t had a rep of being common for scamming but I understand why you are uncomfortable especially as it’s an international sale.

Thanks for the info on the scope that webley one has good ratings and for 17quid u can’t really go wrong, I’m going to give it a try.

How’s the 1377 coming along danco? I’ve decided to leave mine how it came apart from the stock.. I’ve decided to get a 2240 to mod instead, its going to have the zebrawood RB grips, a 10inch barrel custom 2 shot breech from T.R.Robb, and silencer. I’ll make or modify a bipod for it and maybe bulk it, should cost around £200-250 but will be worth it to have something unique.

Alright Joel? The 1377 project was slowed down a bit by the transfer port breaking, but a few weeks later a new one came in the post and I'm out using it again. In fact this saturday go by I had a squirrel from about 30 yards at 15 pumps rite in the head. I've got used to the open sights now. I'm planning on ordering a Crooked barn breech at christmas for around £60 as it has to be delivered from the US. Does this TR Robbs bloke do a 1377 phase 2 breech. Does he have an email? It would be great if he does because he is located in the UK i think. Anyway good luck with your project mate.

I do not believe that you or anyone else has shot and killed any bird or anything at all at a 200yd. distance with any air pistol in the world. It is impossible for any .177 air pistol to reach that distance, let alone kill it outright

The SMK S2 .177 is surprisingly accurate for such a primative gun. I got one second hand for next to nothing and I probably would have been better off getting a new one for the £25 or so they sell for. The range and power is a let down. Don't buy one thinking it's going to be some high quality hunting gun, you will be disappointed. It is fun for targets and plinking though and these things seem to last forever! I once tried to fit a new powerful spring to one and it didn't help the power, it... (read more)

Wow 5 meters away, you must be very proud. What do you mean the powers bad, must be your gun mate because mines really powerful. Go out shooting rabbits from about 20 meters away.
Written on: 29/04/2004
The power isnt poor! I get about 3ftlb from mine, go for a pellet about 6 - 9gr and the poor will increase with a lighter pellet. Also, you know the screw on the side, take the little one out which doesnt let you turn the bigger one and turn the bigger one tighter. Then you will find the gun is a little harder to cock but if oiled then this will ease up and the power and accuracy will increase. Also regular greasing or oiling of the barrel also helps reduce friction and therefore increasing power.
Written on: 30/04/2004
No actually, I wasn't proud. I was testing the accuracy of the gun, not of me. By saying the power is bad I mean the power is bad, awful, terrible, dreadful, appalling, shocking, ghastly, horrific, dire, unpleasant etc. The problem is not my gun, mine is not the only one of these I've used. What other guns have you used to compare yours as really powerful to? I think it's actually your gun that's different mate, shooting a rabbit with one of these at any range is inhumane. Wow animal cruelty at 20 metres away, you must be very proud.
Written on: 01/05/2004
Well mate, i've used a smk b2 .22 rifle for hunting and know a clean kill when I see one. Also i've used a berretta pistol to compare the power to and if the s2 pistol is oiled once in a while and if you take a bit of care then its powerful and easily good enough for a clean kill of a rabbit from close range. But don't know what would happen with your dogdy gun though mate, where you buy it, car boot?!

I bought mine new from an outdoor and military surplus shop.

I disagree the powers great, you should get yours checked out seriously at a gunsmiths because it can achieve much more than whats yours seems to have.
Written on: 09/05/2004
I dont think you could up it to 6ftlbs may 4 - 5 or so.
Written on: 11/05/2004
Well, people have this idea of humanely killing vermin like rabbits and pigeons you need to have a gun producing around 10ft/lbs or so, but that is for people who expect to stand 40metres or so back from the rabbits with no stalking involved and by the time the pellet hits the prey it is probably hit at a power of 3.5lbs/ft as the pellet loses power over distance. When it comes down to it, this gun would be far too weak for standing well back and picking out your victim, but if you creep close, which involves being very quiet and getting to at max 15m away, if you go for a head shot, the pellet, from this distance, will hit the rabbit at a little less than it leaves the gun.
Now if you get good pointed pellets like marksman .177s which weigh around 9gr then they will produce a muzzle velocity of around 3.2lbs/ft and seeing as many most hunting websites recommend a minimum of 2lbs/ft hittin power (ON IMPACT, not from leaving the gun) then over the short distance the pellet will never decrease below this power.
This also means that you need to regulary oil the gun, when I go hunting I take a small spray can of WD40 with me to constantly oil the barrel and other parts should be oiled regularly but not as much as the barrel needs. I say oil the barrel every 20 shots.
Stalking the rabbits (which is easier than stalking pigeons) invloves you to be very quiet and the rabbits which mainly let you near are the small to medimum sized rabbits as the large, experienced ones will sense you quicker. I tend to go for the medimum ones and a head or neck shot is required for a clean kill. I went out this weekend after lots of practise in the garden and managed to shoot two rabbits, both around medium sized and both shot in the neck and they were instant.
I recommend the gun and yes it is effective for hunting at close range, which doesnt require that much stelf, but just for the hunter to be quiet and careful and you will find this gun very enjoyable as a hunting gun and its great as a back garden target shooter of cans and so on.

Danco have you tried the new s3 about same power as s2 but rebuilt to look better and make gun safer. Surely a kill with one of those 10m max. Using .22 pellets my s3 goes through 4 layers of cardboard at 7m that’s using webley harrier’s domeheads (not hunting pellets). But spitfires are more powerful, they could kill rats at 8 meters even though they are not pointed.
Written on: 21/08/2004
Yeah I’ve seen the s3 it looks good. I'm probably going to upgrade mine to the crosman 1377c pump pistol in couple of months but until then, r those spitfire pellets good then?
Written on: 30/08/2004
I've just won a 1377 on eBay should be getting it next week. Its in perfect condition and is a US version so, unlike the UK and Canadian versions which do 495fps in .177, the US version does more around the 560-600 fps (so members of the crosman forum tell me) with most pellets. Can’t wait to get it and take it close range hunting. Keep an eye out for the review and check out the quality reviews of the 1377 air pistol.
Written on: 31/08/2004
Yeah the s2, because of the way its manufactured so cheaply can often loose power and requires constant oiling and screw tighten and stripping down in order to get it up to a good velocity. The s3 looks a better build and must have a more constant velocity. I don’t know about .22, but the .177 in s2 can take rabbits from 10m, so the s3 in .177 must be able to. The velocity of the .22 in the s2 version seems a little to slow and would probably dip too early after firing. Don’t know about the s3 .22 though?
Written on: 05/09/2004
Hi danco

It is only the Canadian versions of the 1377 that shoot 495fps, the UK versions do 575fps. I haven’t done a chrono on mine but it does have better penetration than my grandads Gamo delta which does 525fps
Written on: 09/09/2004
Ow is it only the Canadian ones. The English ones state 575fps but I think a few on the crosman forum found it was more like the 525fps mark with 7.9 gr pellets. Yours my be different if it’s new, as I heard that the limiter valve has been stopped in the UK 1s. I've strayed my onmes pump grips and the hand grips black and lightened the spring under the grips for the trigger which has made it much lighter to fire and ther4 more accurate. Also had it for a week now and already had 2 pigeons and that was after just a stroll thru the woods from about 15-20 yards away.

Also what pellets do u use in your 1377?
Written on: 13/11/2004
Danco, I'm using crossman accupells in my 1377, they seem to suit it well since chronying my 1377 the first time and getting around 570fps i have done another the velocity has dropped to around 550fps maybe due to diesling although i didnt know a pump gun could? It's not leaking as i left it pumped for 15mins and put it over the chrony and the results were the same.
Written on: 05/02/2005
I may give the accupells a try, i'm using RWS superpoints at the moment and may also try the pointed powerpells soon. Theres a few mods that will up that power a bit. One I highly recommend is a vinyl tubing transfer port. Post a question about the size on the Crosman forum and make yourself one. They seal the air around the breech so much better and will add 15-25fps to the speed. I've also put an aftermarket breech and scope on ti and it makes a great close range hunter. Good luck mate.

Try oiling the gun this would help A LOT with you loss of power problem. Use only crosman pelle gun oil, works great. Also put some oil in the seal where you load the pellet, it wil help swell the seal and thus you will also not lose so much power either.

I got this SMK S2 0.177 air gun 6 yrs ago (it's been out for decades) and i still have it now and it still works (which is a good sign). But it's badly made - poor stock, poor metal, poor spring and one of the most inaccurate guns you will ever fire. It's also dangerous because the barrel can spring back and it can fire without the trigger being pulled. This is because the trigger mechanism relies on a bit of metal to hold it in place. This metal does wear down and let off the piston without... (read more)

the s2 pistol is brilliant. how can you say it is badly made rubbish when it still works after 6 years? g10 pistols are inaccurate, laim and is not as powerfull as the s2 pistol. dont buy a g10 because of the lack of power and a waste of money
Written on: 26/11/2002
Hey people, I have owned both the S2 and the G2005 variant of the G10 range of air pistols. I totally agree with the danger factor of the S2, mine did end up firing for no reason and I experienced the barrel snapping back up a few times! Also, I put in a brand new spring and the power didn't really improve, probably because the spring was worth more than the gun and was just too damn good for the poor quality S2 materials! I love the fibre-optic sights on the g2005 but the gun itself is not as accurate as the S2 by a long shot.

Hey guys, it's obvious that your s2 doesn't work very well after 6 years as a new model would, but it's a great 1st time plinker i agree with the danger factor mine does that from time to time.
And as for the g2005/g10 and that whole range don't go their complete waste of money, tiny barrel no acuracy can't adjust rear site tinny power and more expensive than s2

Written on: 23/04/2004
For all those who have problems shoting the gun at a 10m target there must be a problem with your individual gun. Try tightening the screw on the side of the gun and take the little srew out which stops it turning first. Then do it really tight and oil it dow. After a few times cocking it it should become easer to reload as at first it is a little difficult but the power will improve loads!!!!Dont know if it will shoot pigeons though, sumone must tell us all???!!
