Recently they've started withdrawing money (bills) from our account later in the day then they use to. This has led to use being overdrawn later in the day. When you work shift work, you don't went to be switching on your computor at 11:30pm when you get home from work to transfer money from one account to another. This is starting to happen quite regular.
If you don't need to go into a branch then First Direct Internet Banking should suit you. Easy to use online, and pay bills.

First Direct is a totally different approach to banking. If they can help then they will.
They speak to you like a human being.
I am one of the lucky people with no financial worries but I know that if I had a problem then I would be able to talk to someone at First Direct and get some helpful advice.
They are the only bank to be customer focused and I don't mean they are trying to sell you every financial product on the market.

I cannot speak of First Direct highly enough. 18 years and never, but never have I come even close to a problem. Real people, real customer service, real results. They should be a model framework for all internet banking operations.

I have been a First Direct customer for about 17 years and in all this time I cannot think of one negative thing to say about them. The level of customer service is very high. The staff that man the telephone banking service are always helpful and polite and the response times are always prompt. The internet banking service is very easy to navigate. I would highly recommend First Direct.

First Direct set their standards very high. Other banks do not seem to notice or care. Always there, never a problem to help you out no matter what time or day. They supply all your banking needs.
You can even have the account open if you are not living in this country or do not have an address here. They'll do practically anything that you may wish, and be pleasant at the same time.
Nothing is a problem to them.

I think First Direct is first class I have been with them for nearly 20 years never had a problem,I like the friendly staff always very helpful, and internet banking is easy for me,and thats saying something I am an OAP and female!! .

Keep telling me that I should move money to another one of their accounts to earn more money.

First Direct are by no means the worst internet bank but they seem to have stagnated and are not trying very hard.I have been with them for five years and apart from the useless credit card (I can't seem to successfully order anything with it) I have been mostly satisfied.Recently I went over my overdraft limit due to changing jobs and got hit with £25 unauthorised overdraft arrangement fee, I decided not to challenge it because I did go over by £2000 so thought it fair enough. I would recommend FD to all. We have been with them for 3 years, and when a problem does occur, this is always dealt with quickly and by someone who appears to care! The telephone customer service is without a doubt its differentiator, and I have yet to find a premier service that is better.

Excellent. I am absolutely delighted with First Direct online banking. I can look up everything I need to, keep an eye on my balances, transfer between accounts and pay bills. What more could you ask?

I too have banked with First Direct for years (more than I can remember). They provide a great personal service and if anything does go wrong (so rare it's like hens' teeth), they sort it without bother.
They keep the internet banking site up to date and listen to their cusomers suggestions and comments.
I would not bank anywhere else. So, HSBC - keep First Direct separate and the best banking service available.

We have banked with First Direct for 18 years and they have provided an excellent service while we lived in the UK and abroad. Their internet/phone banking is the best I've used and I have used lots. However, since HSBC took over they are charging more for a poorer service which is very disappointing.

If they are going to change your layout, they should inform their customers. What was wrong with the last setup?
Nothing seems simple for the old age customers, who only log on once in a while. So far it has taken me over 5 minutes to try without success. Why do you keep messing about?

Having been with First Direct for something like 15 years, and using the website as my main point of contact with the bank for a little over 5 years now, very rarely has it failed to do what I need it to do. Unlike a couple of other online banks I've used, the interface is very simple to navigate round and there aren't constant nagging efforts to sell you other products - which is a welcome relief.You can simply log in, see your balance and it's pretty easy to retrieve details for previous month ...

I joined them about 13 years ago and would have stood by them until within the last 8-9 months. Now I can not recommend them at all. There is little communication between themselves and the customer, at least in my case. I am and will be successfull even without First Direct.

I have joined First Direct bank with my boyfriend and this is the worst thing we could have done. It's showing balance but it's not showing available funds so it's really to go over (charge only £25). I always find it difficult to work out how much money we've got in the bank. It's not clear at all. Each time I phone them I have to queue up. Just cant wait to get a new account with another bank. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. For the last couple of months it's been a nightmare!
