For all those people who disagree, all I can add is that you have not been to a better resort, try the Grand Azure or the Calimera Royal or Laguna Vista, MMMMMMMM, then you know what you want. We will never go back to the Oriental full stop.

“I went for 2 weeks on holiday to the Oriental resort...”

★★★★★

written by hollie1234567890 on 26/08/2008

I went for 2 weeks on holiday to the Oriental resort with my family and do not listen to any of the bad reviews as you will truly have a fantastic holiday.
The situation of the hotel could not get much better. You are about 15 minutes away from the airport, 25 minutes from Nama Bay, 30 minutes from Cleopark, an amazing water park which you should consider visiting and an adequate shopping mall is across the road featuring some designer shops, an English bar which shows football and a metro just outside the hotel.
There is no need to complain about the food as you have to respect that it is a completely different culture out there so you are not going to get a beef burger or spaghetti bolognese every night. There is a pasta booth where you can get pasta with tomato or cheese sauce if you don't like anything on the main booth. If you really can not stand to eat the food every night there is a lovely Italian restaurant next door to the reception which is not included in your all inclusive however is quite cheap if you are looking for something a bit different. Also I would throughly recommend to ask about eating on top of the pool bar at night. You may have to ask a few waiters before you finally get to book it however it is well worth it in the end. Basically you have to book the day before and they bring you a menu. You can either get meat including steak, chicken and lamb or fish including lobster, shrimps and seabass and it is paid by, by every 100 grams so you pick as much as you would like. The next day you turn up and you can look at the fish before it is cooked and tell them which bits you want and how you would like it to be cooked then you have a starter with pitta breads, salad and dips. Again this is not included in your all inclusive however is very cheap for the quality you get and you also have to pay for drinks but in return you get treated like royalty all night.
The main pool is for you if you like to be in all the action with music playing all day and activities. Also the pool bar offers ice cream and sandwiches at lunch time. If you then walk through the lovely gardens you come to a second pool which we stayed around for the whole holiday. It is very quiet and you can guarantee that you will not get splashed all the time. This pool has its own pool bar who is served by a lovely man and there is never a huge queue to get a drink. Then a further 2 minuted walk away is the amazing beach. We walked down there at about 4ish in the afternoon everyday and it was beautiful! The sea was like a bath and at the end of the little jetty were lots of fish. Definitely buy snorkels and look for a yellow rope as it leads you to some corral which has the most amazing fish
Would definitely recommend booking a flight to Cairo before you go and booking your own guide as we did this and it turned out a lot cheaper and we had the most amazing day ever. Also if traveling with Thomas Cook, take a trip on the Arabian nights as this is fantastic, Cleopark, and to Tiran island. Also book to go quad biking down at the beach as that was my favourite part of the holiday
ENJOY!!

The Hostmark Oriental Hotel is not a 5 star in our country but what do you expect in Egypt. The staff are very kind and would do anything to help us. The food is varied and well cooked and the housekeeper was very good and kept the room immaculate.

Not what I would rate as a UK 5 star hotel but not far off. Hotel kept very clean and staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Rooms were a good size and the army of gardeners kept the grounds and gardens in fantastic shape. Food is nice and varied and caters for the less adventurous with rice, pasta, fruit and loads of desserts and has lots of varied food which seems to be on a weekly rota. Hotel grounds go straight down to the beach which is nice and shallow and so is safe for kids. The kids club and animation team were fantastic, the nightly kids mini disco was a firm favourite as well as having events during the day. Only 2 things I considered below par, some of the hotel guests and the reps who were only interested in selling you trips and if you actually needed them for anything were never available

The hotel staff where brilliant, the bar staff are all polite and efficient. Pool boys - these lads do a lot for nothing. Staff very freindly and hospitable. Decent sized rooms. Cleaned every day to excellent standard. The reps where not very good, a bit ignorrant.

We got this holiday as a late booking and on arrival we were very pleased with where we were. The hotel was clean, staff friendly, food basic but enough choice. Ideally located on the beach, the pools were lovely and relaxing. All 6 of us had a lovely time there, we came home chilled and relaxed, which is what we needed.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here. The Hostmark Oriental Hotel and its facilities were excellent and all the staff were brilliant. The hotel was a bit remote but getting to town was easy if you wanted to go. The weather was beautiful-very hot! and the area, including the seas and beaches were lovely. snorkelling and diving everywhere-truly magnificant. we would thoroughly recommend it- but do be prepared for the obvious change in culture!

We stayed at the Hostmark Oriental in early June. We found the hotel to be very pleasant not to flash but good enough to enjoy a relaxing holiday. The food was ok but found it a bit repetitive after a while, all our group did suffer from upset stomachs at some point during the week but was not sure if it was down to the food or other factors such as too much sun, drink, etc. Overall, I found the hotel to be of a higher standard than expected considering the price we paid for 1 week all inclusive was only £390pp. However, from meetings with other holiday makers staying at different hotels, I believe you can get this sort of deal at various good hotels nearer the main area of Sharm.

“Hostmark Oriental Hotel: ”

★★★★☆

written by Allishia123 on 24/05/2005

Hostmark Oriental Hotel:
First let me start, the resort itself is nice, it's all what you need-it's spacious and the staff and people around you are welcoming and friendly!

With our daughter off to her nannies for a week, we thought we would push the boat out and come to Egypt instead of going back to the canary islands!

We were paying for all-inclusive, so as soon as we arrived we decided to hit the food, we were disappointed at what we saw! (Let me re-phrase that, what we didn't see) We was expecting to see lots of different dishes and variety, but we didn't It was the same (more or less everyday)potatoes of some kind, a few pasta dishes, a fish dish, a beef dish, a chicken dish and vegetables for lunch AND dinner! What we did eat, I can't really fault, it was nice-just wasn't pleased there wasn't more variety of food! I think they tried to cater for everybody, (English, French, Dutch, Swiss, ETC) but with very little choice! The puddings were great-plenty of choice and decorated to perfection!

Oh did I mention that we got food poisoning too (may I add, NOT FROM THE HOTEL but a boat trip) but it did leave us petrified of eating any other meat at the hotel-not as though there was much choice anyway!

The location wasn't good either, there wasn't much to see or do! (we did speak to an English local, who said that they are about to start construction work opposite the hotel (which currently at the moment is just lots of land) there will be bars, nightclubs, shops, and a variety of different restaurants! which will liven the place up, when once up and running)

The beach is quite close (just a short little walk from your room) and has fantastic marine life! which any age group will love!

I would go back to Sharm El Sheikh, just probably not the Hostmark Oriental Resort! Things could be different if the food was better and in the future the area around the hotel was more built up!
Thanks for reading, thought I'd share my opinion!

“Returned from Hostmark Oriental Hotel yesterday (9th...”

★★★★★

written by adz1478 on 10/05/2005

Returned from Hostmark Oriental Hotel yesterday (9th May 2005). I have stayed in Egypt on 4 previous occasions and am finding it difficult to fault the hotel in general, considering other reviews and the amount we paid.
Weather was great, and our room was excellent. A good size which easily accommodated a king size bed and a sofa bed. There are fridges and TV's in each room and the air conditioning appears brand new.
The restaurant staff were very helpful (especially GIMAI our waiter), but order your drinks early as they can take a little time to come. The food was generally good and consisted of different types of beef, chicken, rice, potatoes and a good selection of salads and vegetables. The chefs also made omelettes for you and pancakes at your request. The sweets were excellent and highly recommended.
The all inclusive is great value, just make sure that what you want is included first, mainly all the local beer, soft drinks and spirits were flowing aplenty.
The pit stop is the inside bars were all of the football and sport is shown. This will cost you 15 LE (£1.50) to get in and includes 1 free drink. Not bad if you want to watch the game, but a bit cheeky if you are all inclusive.
The taxis are the biggest rip-off merchants you will ever come across. Do not order one from the hotel, walk the 100 metres to the road and get a taxi for half the price. petrol over there is 9p a litre and they will try and charge you £10 to get to and from Naama Bay. We were paying about £4 for 9 of us in one of the mini buses which was OK. Two of the normal taxis would have cost us more. This brings me nicely on to the next point, the driving. OH MY GOD, where is Richard Brunstrom when you need him, they drive like absolute lunatics. It is not uncommon for them to be 4 abreast in a dual carriageway doing about 60 mph. I say about, because none of the speedos work in the 30 year old Peugeots they all drive. There are no seat belts and they rarely use lights. If they are trying to rip you off - as they will - walk away, they will soon offer you half the amount and drop even more. Once they have you in the car they will try and talk it up again, but stick to your guns and they will relent.
The locals are very friendly and they love kids. In the town, airport, and toilets will all try to get money from you. There is no pride amongst these people, they are beggars and will all but pull you into the shops. Again be assertive. This behaviour is not allowed in the hotel and staff are sacked on the spot following complaints. However, this is were you can tip if you wish, for example the guy in the towel hut gets paid £12.50 per week, but was so friendly we didn't mind tipping. This is how he supports his family in Cairo. Tips over there indicate that people are happy with there service and is at your discretion. It is not expected, however the smile is worth a few LE.
The distance from Naama Bay is about 15 minutes on PEACE road or the Sharm race track. If you can take your eyes off the impending accident ahead, the drive has the Sinai desert on one side and the red sea on the other and is quite magnificent
The pool and facilities for the hotel are great. It does smell a little when they water the gardens but the lushness of the grass and palms is well worth it
The trips are brilliant, the quads was the best by a mile and highly recommended. Take sunglasses and maybe something to cover your mouth due to the sand/dust coming from the quad in front.
The national go-kart track is in sharm, right by the airport and is well worth a go
The dolphin swimming is amazing to do, but I have to say the pool is far too small and a bit upsetting to see these magnificent creatures cooped up like they are.
For the first time I have had no dodgy guts. I believe the hotel has a water purifying system. I still only drank bottled water, but for cooking etc. it works great
The diving is some of the best in the world. On my second dive I dived with a juvenile Manta Ray witch was happily swimming along by white knights and stayed with us for 15 minutes. One of the best experiences of my life. The colours of the fish and the sheer size is awesome. I have dived all over the world, Seychelles, Cancun etc. but keep coming back here as it is that good
The health club in the hotel is very, very good. All modern equipment, 2 squash courts, table tennis etc. There is a football pitch. basketball etc but take your trainers because it is not on sand more like a gravely surface with hard bits
To snorkel here is quite a walk as the jetty has collapsed. The hotel next doors is OK and allows you to walk out to the coral. The thermoclines in the water are amazing. In places it is like a hot bath. The fish are very attentive and you will be swarmed if you take some bread for them. We saw baby barracuda eggs being laid and the rest of the area is aquarium like in its diversity and visibility. The currents were slack when we went, but be careful of going too far out as the straits of Tiran is known for its drift dives.
All in all, a great hotel. There were probably as many Italians as British and the majority of evening entertainment was Italian. The only other point about Italians is that they queue like they dive
Would I go to this hotel again? For £370 all inclusive, definitely!!

We had the most disappointing all inclusive holiday in Oriental Resort. We have just come back last night. Food is terrible. You can guess what the menu is to night- almost same everyday if you can't guess. vegetarians- no need to bother. My wife lived on same salads every day. Even the ice cream by the pool is not inclusive. To use table tennis or pool table you have got to pay. I spent 3 days complaining along with many other guests and have seen a slight improvement.

“We have just returned from an all inclusive stay at...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by acv on 13/04/2005

We have just returned from an all inclusive stay at the Oriental Resort. Not only did our transfer take nearly 2 and half hours, nothing went right after that awful transfer which was supposed to take 20 mins max...The food in this hotel is totally appalling. We were both ill with D&V. No selection, rice and pasta everyday and yes, we were lucky enough to also have their Italian night where we were offered a piece of Pizza on the way into the restaurant, but needless to say the selection was still the same....after that we couldn't eat in the hotel again due to being ill. The drink selection was appalling also. One evening the vodka had run out at 10pm-not very happy considering everything else you had to pay extra. The bar staff were also extremely unhelpful and rude. There was only 1 bar staff per bar or snack bar. The pool bar was also lacking in the food dept. Although there was an extensive menu, most things were on a chargeable extra...and the things you were allowed to have were the re-used sausages from breakfast stuck into a half frozen roll. The hotel and the surrounding gardens were sprayed with raw sewage. As you can imagine the smell and the flies were atrocious. The beach (man-made) was also appalling. There was no way of snorkelling as the current was extremely strong and you would have walk out at least half an hour before getting anywhere....The location, well lets just say you are in the middle of nowhere. The hotel offers 1 free shuttle bus per day for a hotel with 1000+ guests there is no way you can ever get in the bus, which holds 16 people! Taxis were costing us £12...not exactly cheap for a foreign country. In comparison to taxi's in Mexico which were costing no more than 90p.....The hotel was also only half completed. The workmen were spray painting all day; the fumes were enough to keep you high all week.
We have already written to the agents we booked this through to seek compensation as we have never experienced a worse holiday....we are both we travelled people (Mexico, Bali, Singapore, Australia, NZ)This hotel is not even worthy of 2*...5* is a complete joke....DO NOT GO HERE!

“Having just spent a week 'all-inclusive' at the...”

★★★☆☆

written by zajones82 on 06/04/2005

Having just spent a week 'all-inclusive' at the Oriental Resort, I felt I should write all about my holiday experience for the benefit of anyone considering choosing this particular resort. From the description of the hotel on www.medhotels.com, it seemed that the Oriental was the ideal choice, seeing as though it had much to offer in terms of the 'all-inclusive' deal.

On arrival at the hotel the location seemed somewhat remote. The reception area was all in marble and nicely presented. The staff were approachable and friendly, and we were soon taken to our room which was also well presented, spacious and clean. Our balcony overlooked the beautiful lush green gardens, home to pretty flowers, palm trees and water features. After a few days the initial impressions of the supposed good services on offer and splendour of the hotel's grounds began to wane.

Where shall I begin? Firstly, I will begin with the issue of food and drink. On the first night (Friday), it was 'Pharaohean Night' and we were greeted by people dressed in authentic Egyptian costume and had to walk through a pyramid shaped tent. The food was presented well, with different areas designated for the starter, main course and deserts. The quality of the food was not by any means poor, and the deserts were particularly delicious. However, the Marhaba restaurant was let down by its staff and the variety of food it had to offer.

Frequently, I would get through the entire first two courses before even being asked what drink I would like, and the wait was sometimes ridiculous. Generally, the staff seemed to be clumsy and disorganised, creating a chaotic atmosphere. Every meal time plates and glasses were smashed, and one poor soul had a drink spilled all over them. Also, I warn you of the young chap who flits from table to table offering you a glass of sangria or a cocktail, but later returns with a bill for 140 Egyptian pounds for two! In terms of variety there was none as every day the same food appeared although sometimes it was cooked slightly different. The lunch and evening dinner were exactly the same, with the choice consisting of: salad, soup and bread for starters; rice, potatoes, vegetables (carrots and courgettes), beef, chicken, fish and spaghetti/pasta for main course; cakes for desert. After a few days you were sick of eating rice, vegetables and meat. The other theme nights, namely the 'Jamaican' and 'Italian' nights offered the same food too, but the staff wore different attire and the table cloths were different! Wow hey?!

The choice of drinks and the quality of them was actually quite abysmal. The wine was watered down apart from the red which was palatable. The coke, sprite and fanta all had a strange taste - which I believe to be due to the chemical water treatment they use. They are incredibly stingy with their measures of spirits and do not allow doubles. As for the beer, I am not a beer drinker, so I could not tell you about that.

The swimming pool was a decent size but quite shallow, so no diving in! The first few days it was absolutely freezing but seemed to warm up over the duration of the week. If you want a sunbed it is advisable to get one quite early and you can leave your towel on it all day to claim ownership of it. You don't need to take beach towels as fresh ones are provided every day. The only thing that spoilt the sunbathing area and the pretty gardens was the recurrent stench of sewerage. If you see a gardener armed with a hose, try not to breathe, as the smell is quite disgusting that wafts your way. They water the grass with the sewerage water, which is not very pleasant at all despite the lush grass it produces. Also, all the gardeners ogle and stare at any female specimen in a bikini top. This feels quite unnerving.

Finally, the entertainment was not the most enthralling. It appeared that the children were having fun dancing to the 'Superman' and 'the Birdy' song every afternoon at 3pm, but the songs were quite annoying after listening to them day in day out. There was entertainment staff working on the complex, and they tried their best to include everyone in activities and to persuade you to watch their 'shows' at night. They were by no means the most talented of people, but very friendly all the same. I enjoyed taking part in the water aerobics in the pool. Some people took part in various dance and exercise routines by the pool that they seemed to enjoy.

After the 'Oriental' experience I would say that I feel neither completely dissatisfied nor overly enthusiastic about the place, with the final opinion that this resort was just satisfactory. There were some very positive aspects about the 'Oriental', but also so many things that they did not get right. However, it is important to remember that Egypt is not the most advanced, wealthy and prosperous country, so maybe the standards are not so bad after all, when you consider the whole picture. It was only in 1982 that Sharm el Sheikh was beginning to be developed as a tourist area. It will be interesting to see how the area of Nabq Bay continues to be developed, and increased competition from more hotels might just give the 'Oriental' the wake-up call it needs.

The hotel taxis are reasonably priced, and the drivers arrange pick-up points with you which is good. Naama Bay is fifteen minutes drive away, which is full of souvenir shops and restaurants, as well as a few bars. Most of the Egyptians working in Sharm el Sheikh are from Cairo, and everywhere you turn they are trying to sell you things. They try the friendly approach, asking what your name is and all the rest of it, before trying to lure you into their shops where they usually insist you buy things and become offended if you don't- so beware! The Hard Rock Caf was fantastic, with excellent food and mouth-watering cocktails. Little Buddha had a unique interior but drinks were expensive. The Camel Bar was recommended, but the drinks were disappointing and it was nothing to shout about. They have a Pacha nightclub, but I did not go there so could not tell you what it is like, but on a Friday they have a huge party in the desert!

Despite the few downfalls I had a lovely relaxing holiday and the weather was fantastic! Sunny and 32 degrees all week!

“Oriental Resort - Sharm El Sheik Egypt ”

★★★☆☆

written by numptyhead on 04/04/2005

Oriental Resort - Sharm El Sheik Egypt

I just couldn't help writing a review on this hotel having just returned from it 2 days ago. Me and my girlfriend stayed All Inclusive for 1 week in a seaside view room.

So.. Where do I start...

Lets start with an item closest to my heart - My stomach! The whole dining experience is poor. Really poor!

Breakfast.. You have a choice of maybe 3 cereals, a collection of cheese, a couple of types of spam and a standard mix of tomatoes, cucumber, and salad type food (peppers, olives, shredded carrot etc..). As for hot items, there are mini sausages, potatoes, omelettes, scrambled eggs, pancakes, and two sorts of set yoghurt. (Oh and loads of different types of bread). They also have red juice and orange juice (tasted like a cordial/concentrate). And I almost forgot, a fantastic collection of pastries.

Sounds good hey? Well the sausages were actually hot dogs, the potatoes were usually inedible, the queue for an omelette could be 5 minutes.. The cereals were ok though! (If you like weird bran flakes that is). Unfortunately there was no fruit.

Lunch... The same salad and appeared back again. This time however, the spam has been chopped and added to the salad. The hot dogs have also been chopped and added to the salad. Other than that, the salad bar is basically as it was at breakfast time. Soup had been added for lunch
(well it was sort of flavoured watery corn flour mix). The hot food bar however had become more exciting. It now usually had rice, another sort of rice, some sort of beef stew, chicken of some sort, a pasta station (a man with a frying pan, and some pasta and some spices and hot dogs). Saut ed vegetables, potatoes and maybe a type of fish. Where the cereals had been, was now a collection of cakes. Now these I liked. Each and every day. They have some great pastry chefs out here! But enough of the good points, I am slagging this place off!

Dinner.. Basically as above (yes the hot dogs were back again). The only difference being the time of day. Great puddings though!

In all, the food was not bad. It was well cooked, and pleasant. Just very boring. No variety. And more like canteen food. In the end we ate out. it just wasn't worth the bother. Breakfast was dire. And generally missed. If you arrived early you got cloth napkins. Later guests got paper. Between starter and main course you must also retain your cutlery. You don't get new ones just because you are changing your plate!

To lift the sprit they did do an Italian night! This meant that staff wore different clothes and we got Pizza slices handed to us on our way in. Other than that the food was the same. Jamaican night was similar except I didn't notice what was special on that night.

Now for the drink! All Inclusive means, beer, wine, basic spirits (local gin, vodka and whisky) and soft drinks. Great! No worries there then. I'll have a diet coke please! No I won't, diet coke isn't all inclusive. It costs money! Only normal drinks are included (And bottled water). Sigh!

Lots of people warned me about brushing my teeth with bottled water. No need here. The oriental has a posh chemical water treatment system. So good, that you can even drink the tap water (cold that is! the hot comes out brownish! ;-) ) . In fact, they use the normal tap water for all their premix drinks like coca-cola and sprite. They also (very naughty this one) water down the white and rose wines with it. (They appear out of plastic bottles from the fridge).
So absolutely no stomach upsets all week. Yipee!

Oh and did I tell you.. The chemicals in the water have a real weird taste and smell. Unfortunately, this appears in all the premix drinks and the 2 wines I have mentioned. Red comes from a wine tap. And that is safe, and is the only alcohol I touched. The coke and sprite tasted awful to me though. The average child probably wouldn't notice. But when you do, you won't want to drink the watered drinks again. As a result I was on bottled water and red wine all week.

So that's the food and drink. If you can skip those parts you will love the place. Very clean. Very well cleaned. Nice rooms, friendly staff. There is even an entertainments team trying to keep you excited (probably in response to earlier complaints). My only real complaints are dining room related. Very bad staff in here and can be hard to find a table to sit at sometimes. Out of ten I rate it as about a 3. It is what I would have expected at a 3* AI resort.

One last point before I finish. it is worth mentioning the one thing that really wound me up. The money grabbing attitude of this place. At meal times, staff wander the dining room with cocktails (like sangria). They ask if you want them. You say 'Yes please!' then they bring a bill for 70 Egypt pounds (about 7 uk pounds) at the end of the meal. This is low! Cocktails are not included. Thus you have to pay for them. They catch a lot of people this way. After
the gym one day, the staff pointed out the Sauna. So we got in, 15 minutes later got out and got a 150 Egypt pound bill (about 15 Uk pounds). By the pool, there is ice cream. If your children want it you have to pay.

So there you have it. Anything I've missed..

Location.. A long way from Sharm. Half an hour in a taxi. Nearest town Naema Bay (good Hard Rock cafe and a decent Sushi bar down there!) is 15 mins. It was a bit too remote for me.

Gym.. Good sized room with no equipment. 2 treadmills, 2 bikes, 4 pieces of resistance equipment and a rack of dumbells. I would call it an exercise room rather than a gym! Equipment was all newish however. It was decent stuff (Cybex) and in very good condition.

Almost forgot. STAY OFF THE GRASS!! If you wonder what that vile smell is.... They water the gardens all day with sewerage. The place stinks. I personally would have had them do it overnight. But not in Egypt! As a result, the gardens are great. The grass is a superb lush green. Just don't let your kids
play on it!!

So my conclusion... If you like your food do not stay here. If food and drink does not make/break your holiday then it is a great place. I am a food man! If All Inclusive matters. Then I would avoid it. Had I never seen the bars or dining rooms I would have loved it. Unfortunately I would not recommend it.

To re-iterate, I would consider it a 4* hotel with a 3* restaurant. It is the worst 5* I have yet stayed in. I have stayed 5* in Turkey and that was superb. Jamaica was very good. Cyprus was very good. Egypt was weak.

If you want good 5* in this area, apparently the Hyatt regency is the place to stay. Next time....

If you have any questions, I occasionally read my hotnail account [email protected].

Cheers.

Mad!

P.S. If the taxi from the airport costs you more than 100 Egyptian pounds, you are getting screwed! (I paid 200! and was! ;-)

Allishia123's Response to numptyhead's Review

Written on: 24/05/2005

Well i have 2 agree with u there! I went there last week and arrived back in the uk 2 days ago!
Whereas the actual hotel is spotless and everyone friendly, the food to me and my fiance was very poor-although you cant fault the desserts!
I was disappointed as it was a more expensive holiday, than what we'd usually pay and it feels like we were ripped off-if you pay for an all-inclusive you expect a whole lot more range than what we got! i think they tried to cater for everybody (English,Italians,French,Germans,Swiss.ETC) but on a VERY small scale!
Oh,and did i mention we both suffered food poisoning (NOT THROUGH THE HOTEL,MAY I POINT OUT)which left us petrified of eating the hotel meat! (not as though there was much choice anyway)
The resort itself isnt ideally situated either, not much things to do or see (but i do have to add,we spoke to an English local and he did say that opposite the hotel (where there is just land at the moment) construction work is about to start on a big 'strip' where there will be shops, nightclubs, bars and several different authentic restaurants,ETC)which will liven the area up,the beach is a short little walk from the rooms and may i say the beach is fantastic and the marine life brilliant!
I would go back to Sharm El Sheikh, but not Hostmark Oriental Resort!
Thanks for reading this, thought i would share my opinion!

“The hotel was noisy . It was not up to 5 star...”

The hotel was noisy . It was not up to 5 star standard. Food awful, waiters cleared the plates before you had even finished eating. Pool tables each side of the inadequate bar gave the atmosphere of a working mens club.
Birds were flying down onto the food display eating the bread and dumping in it.
Tap water filthy and brown. no doubt also cooking with it!
We arrived on 13 March 2005 and transfered to lTI Grand Azur 14th March disgusted with the quality of the oriental resort. Realised on arrival it wasn't up to much when the tacky wooden slatted boards and plastic sign for the hotel greeted us. Entrance was something out of the 70s akin to British hi de hi holiday camp era.
Judging by the number of disgruntled guests seeking re location this is not the place to go unless you are prepared to put up with second rate surroundings and service, have a cast iron stomach and tolerate drunken Russian guests who have no regard whatsoever for other customers.
We had to spend £200 extra to move to a decent 5 star hotel and even then the Sun med reps failed to sort out the transfer vouchers causing us considerable problems.

“The Hostmark Oriental Hotel is not a 5 star hotel,...”

The Hostmark Oriental Hotel is not a 5 star hotel, more of a five star recipe for disaster. We got out within a day of arriving. It is noisy with inadequate facilities, lousy food, filthy brown water to wash in from the shower; god knows what they cook in!!
Dining room chairs filthy.
Tiled floor had grout missing and was full of stale food debris. Broken tiles liable to injure Childs feet. If you looked away for half a second your dinner was whisked away from under your nose by the staff. Birds flying down from rafters eating the bread and dumping on it for good measure.
currently used by med hotels instant holidays
supposed to be 5 star all inclusive elegant hotel!
We had to spend £200 to upgrade to a decent hotel

“Hostmark Oriental Hotel was generally OK but not...”

Hostmark Oriental Hotel was generally OK but not outstanding. We suffered from noisy and drunken Russian neighbours who thought all inclusive meant drink yourself stupid. Food was average based on my experiences elsewhere. Entertainment was poor but we spent most evenings out anyway. However Sharm experience was great - Ras Mohammed, Shark's Bay plus Naama Bay and Sharm at night. Going to learn to dive to make the best of it next time. Not likely to visit this hotel again.
