I have just returned from a week at the Marina bay hotel Skala Kephalonia. It was a last minute thing found on the web. we contacted the hotel directly by phone and booked by e mail. I was a bit worried about what it would be like, but shouldnt have. For a budget hotel/apartment this place is great. Away from the commercialism of skala it is peaceful, relatively unspoilt, and just what we wanted from a family holiday. We shared a large room between 4 and a baby, the room has a small... Marina Bay Hotel is ideal if you are looking for a quiet holiday in an unspoiled location. Our room for three was basic but kept spotlessly clean every day. We were provided with a fridge, 2-ring hob but no pans or utensils for catering, and not enough cutlery. Staff happily provided these when we asked. The restaurant staff - Spiros, Malou and Larisse made us extremely welcome. The inclusive breakfast was very basic, and the restaurant over-priced.We found the best value lunch/evening meals... Good sized rooms, that were cleaned every day we were there. Beautiful views to the sea. Lovely quite location. The pool was not cleaned and was dirty, but we were told not to go in. You have to cooking rings but no pans, so you can't cook. The Marina Bay Studios are lovely but basic, you will need a car as you are in the middle of no-where . (read more)

The Marina Bay Studios was a delight, white, clean and plenty of room. Air conditioning (not expensive at 10 euros a night). Double doors open up to the hotel garden and the beach. Sandy, with shallow sea and never packed the beach which is owned by the hotel was lovely. There is a pool, but occasionally they get the chlorine wrong and it goes out of action. Only 1 tour company use the hotel and apartments so relaxing atmosphere. Food not right and you have to travel to Skala to eat. (read more)

Studio spacious with fantastic sea view and Zante in distance. Peaceful location but need a car to get to local tavernas/shops.On site food etc is expensive but you are a captive audience! Walk 5 mins along beach heading west and you'll find 'Wind' snack bar just off the beach. Cheap, good quality snacks and it's a great little setting. Best restaurant in Skala is Apolostolis situated behind the clock tower up a steep hill.Very friendly, great service, good quality and relatively cheap....look for small signpost behind clock tower for directions.

Hi, I think you have reviewed this unfairly. I have just had a holiday at this hotel, and it was fab. just the best. All the staff were super friendly and honest, and would have done anything to help. I wil be going again.
I saw the incident written up in the hotel guestbook. yours was the only poor comment. I think the manageress was correct, the hotel reception is open, and often unattended. i assume the reason you gave her the ipod to charge was you had forgotten your charger and needed to plug it into the reception comuter.
This is not locked away. why would they, i spoke to our local taxi driver who said there is no crime on the island, and no police.. so no need. The most likely reason is another guest stole it as it would have been lying around.
They have safes for valuables which you can pay to use at the reception, I am sure it was not in there to be charged.
You need to take responsibility, not the Hotel.
