Good Points: Easy to use. Good sound from FM and some DAB broadcasts.
Bad Points: The DRX-702ES has a Small screen.
General comments: Excellent FM sound. Makes the most of limited quality on DAB. Good features coupled with ease of use.
Unfortunately DAB radio in the UK is a con as far as claiming CD quality, or even 'near CD quality'. Even Radio 3, which has the highest bit rate on DAB, sounds much better on the FM tuner. When you get down to the low bit rate stations and there are some in the London area, forget any ideas of CD quality, think AM radio without interference. Most broadcast at about 128kB and that sounds OK, but not HiFi (Capital, Magic, Heart , XFM all sound much better on FM). (DAB at 128 kB is not as good as MP3 at 128kB because DAB uses MP2 technology, a less efficient encoder).
So if you what to listen to high quality FM radio (and have a good hiss free signal) and want the choice of stations on DAB, then this is the unit to buy. If you're thinking you can ditch your FM tuner for a better audio experience on DAB, DON'T - the providers have gone for quantity over quality. Invest if necessary on a decent FM aerial instead.
