I bought my first, proper, DVD player from Techtronics, back in 2000 and was impressed with their service and quality of work at the time. The Multi region upgrade works seamlessly with all DVDs.
Anyway, having had the machine, a Pioneer 535, for 5 years I thought I would investigate an upgrade and naturally thought of Techtronics again. I couldn't find their website and then stumbled across this thread.
They've obviously gone in to administration and what a shame that everybody here has had such a bad experience, because at the time I dealt with them they were very competent, polite and efficient.
Obviously, I shan't be looking to purchase from the again.
Can anybody here recommend a good supplier of Multi Region DVD players?

DO NOT Buy from Techtronics
I bought my first DVD player from the Techtronics Online Audio / Visual Equipment Shops in 2001 and was very impressed with the player and the speed in which the player was delivered, so when I decided it was time to buy a new player I thought I would use Techtronics again - Big Mistake.
I ordered my new DVD player on the 17th August, It is now the end of September and no sign of my DVD player.

I've just successfully taken Techtronics to the small claims court to get my money back. I bought a Sony DAVS-880 multiregion Home Cinema system a year ago. Very good price, and it arrived promptly. 3 months later, intermittent faults started appearing and increased in frequency. After 5 months, it failed catastrophically - the player would not play anything. I tried to contact them, but their customer service line (or any other line for that matter) just never picked up. Had to return the sony dvd cinema system 3 times to be repaired in the first 5 months. It is virtually impossible to get through to the Techtronics customer service dept. and when you do they are rude and obnoxious. Techtronics has had harsh press here, in my opinion they were great - but the Tv that i ordered was in stock and delivered within the 10 days stipulated, it seems that if the item is not in stock problems occur. I could ring the delivery company directly so was aware that it was on its way (had left techtronics at least).- Read Stubo's review (70 words)

I ordered a camcorder marine housing in August from Techtronics. I was promised delivery in 1 week, after a month it still hadn't arrived. After many calls to them they admitted that Securicor had lost the delivery. They offered me a replacement or a refund, I asked for a replacement but they had none in stock (conviniently!) so I opted for the refund. I bought a DVD player from Techtronics in March.
A month later it developed a fault (screen noise). I called Customer Support (Ha!), they were convinced that it was due to wires or a fault with the TV (although I explained every other device plugged in worked fine). But giving them the benefit of the doubt, I replaced the wiring and called had the TV replaced - The TV still displayed the screen noise when playing DVDs.

Bought Panasonic TV from www.Techtronics.com, which was faulty on delivery on 18th January. Collected for replacement on 8th February. After many emails and phone calls, no replacement was received.
After the intervention of the VISA company, a refund was made on 5th June after the threat of legal action, but after deducting 15% re-stocking fee.

I placed an order with Techtronics.com towards the end of February, but up until now, I am still waiting. Their order tracking system indicates that my order is confirmed, their email replies confirm same, but nobody can tell me when my order will be despatched. Summary - faulty goods delivered, took two months before they were collected and a further two months later (and counting) I don't have the goods and they still have my money.
Ordered a Sony DAV800 at the end of November. I was impressed by customer reviews on their website, and the fact that NASA had allegedly used their technology. Still waiting for a TV from Techtronics.com (Panasonic 32PB50) 3 months after ordering. Christmas present now turning into an Easter present. Bought a sony tv from Techtronics using the 6 months interest free credit option. It was delivered after waiting 5 weeks, but the television cabinet was shattered so the delivery people took it away with them. Subsequently we have phoned nearly every day since, and this was 2 weeks ago, and have got absolutely nowhere. They havnt got the broken tv back from there delivery company yet, 75% of the time the phone cuts you off halfway through being on hold. I ordered a Technics DVD A10 with Multimod. Ten days later I received an old demo model, modified 8 months previously which had had another piece of equipment dropped onto it denting the top panel and buckling the rear panel. They told me to send it back and they would consider whether it should be replaced. No apologies, nothing. 11 days later and after repeated telephone calls, I am still waiting for them to confirm that the replacement unit is being despatched. I placed my order with Techtronics.com on the 31st January 2002. My order was a DVD Player. It arrived on the 16th Feb and when plugged in didn't work. It was returned to Techtronics on the 19th where it has stayed in their supposed 'Workshop' since. I have phoned repeatedly for updates, no help whatsoever. My experience, and that of others dealing with Techtronics, indicates that you might as well consider there is no warranty on their products unless it is expensive and blatently dies or has to be replaced. Otherwise, fix it youself and save the hasle.- Read Mik's review (142 words)

Apparently Techrronics has grown in size rapidly over the past 6 mths. From the words of their own employee " they are not able to meet the demand, have far too few staff that dont know what they are doing, hence mistakes can happen". I strongly recommend that any advertiser/reviewer interested in Techtronics should think again as I'm sure there are many other disgruntled, empty handed DVD customers who have had placed orders in November 2001, had money taken from them and received zilch!!
