“Very Poor Carpet Cleaner”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Larsonag1964 on 22/01/2017

My wife bought one of these a while ago and we rarely ever use it. It is very poor at cleaning carpets and it gets blocked frequently. When blocked it is almost impossible to clear the blockage. I use a bent paperclip to clear the blockage, which is invariably a small amount of fluff from the carpet- just not good enough. This is a rubbish product, I don't know what made Vax put their name to it. It is simply not good enough for the purpose intended. I would have liked to have seen the thing used in a proper test run, showing it cleaning a carpet with a pile and not getting blocked, and also seeing it cleaned ou ready for the next time. This product is not fit for purpose and should not be bought by anyone thinking of using it for cleaning carpets. I would have given it a 0 star rating if there was such a rating. Do not buy one, it's a complete waste of money time and effort.

“DROPS EVERYTHING IT MANAGES TO PICK UP!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AylaArcher on 06/04/2015

This worked quite well the first two or three times I used it, then it started to refuse to pick stuff up. Now it's gone a step further ... if by chance it manages to pick something up, it drops it somewhere else. By no stretch of the imagination can it be called a carpet cleaner.

“VAX SPRING CLEAN CARPET CLEANER AND VAX W86-DP-B DUAL...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Sheehanuq256 on 26/11/2014

I bought this machine because a month ago I had ordered the VAX Dual Power W86-DP-B. After using the Dual Power for the first time, it cleaned my thick piled carpets very well and I found it easy to use. After about a total of five hours use, stopping every 5-6 minutes to let it cool down, the next time I used it the belt which rotates the brushes snapped. Unacceptable. Due to the fact that I had moved all the furniture out of the lounge and dining room so as to clean the carpets and being unable to find belts for the Dual Power since I live in Cyprus and this model is not brought here, I had to go out and buy another machine. I bought the Spring Clean which has cross action brushes. DON'T BUY IT. It is totally useless. The only thing it does is make a hell of a noise, it is very heavy compared to the Dual Power and my Bissell and does not clean anything but the surface of the carpets. It is not suitable for thick pile and I have regretted spending so much money on VAX products. When I called VAX customer services about the belt, they told me they don't ship spares abroad and that the broken belt was "MY PROBLEM!!!!!" I find this totally unacceptable. I will never again buy anything from VAX. Thank God for Amazon who said they will replace the Dual Power when I told them about the belt. We shall wait and see how that performs. I hope the belt doesn't snap on the replacement machine also.

“Reneged on Warranty”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Phil-Turnbull on 13/05/2014

I bought a VAX V-020 new online less than a year ago and registered it on the VAX website immediately. To register the warranty I had to give details of all the usual things including the serial number and the place I bought it from. VAX issued a warranty confirmation number by email which I filed. After only a couple of uses the main suction system stopped working so I got in touch with VAX. After several days of e-mails claiming they could not match the Model No. and Serial No., which was only resolved by me sending a photograph of the manufacturers label, they announced that they wouldn't support the warranty because the dealer I bought it from also sells used VAX equipment. Talk about cheats! They had accepted the all the original details to issue a warranty and the moment the device becomes faulty they find an excuse. DON'T TOUCH VAX EQUIPMENT PS .. not forgetting that the cleaner failed after only a few uses!!!!

“Wate of my £399”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 29/09/2012

I recently bought a VAX Rapide V-027. It broke just before I tried to use it for the second time. It would not suck any water in. Called their customer care and said as I do not have the receipt anymore I am not entitled for a free fix!!! Vax recommends you should clean your carpet every 6-12 months but what they mean is make sure you loose your receipt within that time limit. VAX IF YOU ARE READING THIS YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT YOU CAN COPY FROM DYSON BUT CAN NEVER BE RELIABLE LIKE THEM! All I am left it with water all over my room and the customer care was happy to say sorry and then hung up! Brilliant! Ohh Ohh they also offered a £50 charge for it to be fixed after they took my £399. In one sentence: DO NOT BUY VAX.

take it back to shop with receipt and get a refund, the goods have to be able to do the job they are sold for, you can even get a refund without a receipt for faulty goods, dont mess about with repairs its obviously not fit for the purpose it was sold, dont let them fob you off and say they will send it back for repairs demand a refund

“Vax Power Pets Upright ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 01/09/2012

"Bought this when it was on offer at Argos and now I know why it was reduced by so much! It was so unbelievably noisy and weighed a ton, seemed not so bad on its first outing but then got worse. The main issue for me was having to completely disassemble the machine after every single use and clear out the cyclones with tweezers!!also every time you pull it along using the hose it falls over constantly, now bits have started breaking off. I accepted this the first time but after two weeks I'd had enough, but kept trying with it. Considering it's designed for pet hair and we only have one short-haired dog I expected better. I have kept it thinking it was just me as my old Dyson was so much better, but after a few month went by I realized it was not right and it kept hitting me on back of legs, back and head when trying to hoover had enough, then tried to take back to Argos but too late that is why I contacted Vax about my concerns - I'm still waiting for a response!

“vax 7 model vrs7w bought in Morrisons store”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/07/2012

I bought this shampooer to cope with the mess caused by dogs running into the hall. It was a total waste of money. It dispenses the water but sucks up nothing and leaves the carpet so wet that it smells and stays wet for so long that the dogs have to run on it which makes the carpet even worse. My fairly new and very expensive carpet is now totally ruined thanks to this vax product.I am disgusted.

I made the mistake of reading this review AFTER I had bought my VRS7W carpet cleaner so I used it with trepidation. I have to say that I am very satisfied. I too have a dog and found that it wasn't much good for collecting up dog hairs but it was very effective in cleaning my carpet. I can only assume that either the reviewer's machine was defective or it wasn't being used properly. The more one depresses the trigger the more cleaning solution is dispensed onto the carpet. So it is important not to dispense too much. But even if you do you can still go over the area a number of times in "suction only" mode. My dirty water tank was filled right up with filthy water, which shows that it was effectively cleaning and sucking. It is true that the carpet is left damp but that is my experience of hiring an industrial type machine from Homebase. It is a shampooer after all. But by closing all doors, turning up the radiator and adding a fan heater it had dried within a few hours.

“Is just a water dispenser”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 05/04/2012

The Vax Rapide 700w Spring Clean that I purchased recently managed to collect 150ml of dirty water out of 2 litres deposited in the rug I used it on. The store replaced it with the same model whcih is no better They also advised me i have 90 days to upgrade to a better cleaner so obviously have zero faith in the product themselves

“VAX causes damage to carpet and VAX dont care after 1 year”

★☆☆☆☆

written by flynnmr on 13/12/2011

Vax upright Y-027 - Causes carpet damage - Risky use outside of 1 year warranty I recently used a Vax Y-027 to clean a spill on my carpet and heard a rumbling noise from the motor. When I moved the unit, there was a large black dust stain on the carpet that cannot be removed, possibly from a fault in the motor.......ruined carpet, or can it be cleaned? I called vax to ask if they had any advice on how to remove the stain (being carpet cleaning experts). The person on the phone seemed to be aware of the fault and suggested that compensation for the carpet could be in order. When I explained that it was over 1 year old, she explained it was out of warranty, and nothing could be done. The only advise she gave was to email customer complaints. I used the complaint form on the site....no response....I then managed to find a customer services email address.....No response at all. Products break down, and motors burn out...this I can understand, but when a product fails, and causes irepairable damaged to your property, and the manufacturer does not care.... this is not a company to return to. ..... a ticking time bomb after 1 year.....would you risk it?

Small claims court - it obviously wasn't of merchantable quality. Not only not working but causing damage to your carpet. Sue them! It's not so expensive to do- you can do it yourself, I am not a lawyer touting for business! The threat usually works wonders!

“WON'T RELEASE SOLUTION!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/11/2011

I have purchased a VAX VRS5W it has no instructions nor the three screws that hold the handle in place(as it just flies back out), telephoned Morrisons and as I've misplaced the receipt I was told to contact VAX who emailed the instruction guide yet no screws. The solution won't release and I've no idea how to work it, what a waste of money!!!!!!

“Vax Power Jet V-028U Complete waste of money.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by finney on 04/07/2011

This cleaner does not suck up the dirty water because the the suction slits underneath are not close enough to the floor. The design of this machine is rubbish. The only way to suck up the dirty water is by lifting the rear of the machine off the floor, this then lowers the front slits to the carpet to enable better water collection.

“Don't touch Vax products with a ten foot barge pole,...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 31/03/2011

Don't touch Vax products with a ten foot barge pole, after sales service is appalling. My first machine exploded the first time it was used and stained my carpet. The second machine also broke very quickly. Vax acknowledged they were at fault and offered compensation, but it took 23 phone calls and e-mails, nine months and a court order to get it.

I never had this problem. Remember that it's not a vacuum cleaner, but you should use one before shampooing. Maybe the belt is jammed with fluff or hair at the sides. Remove with a cocktail stick or fingers, with machine unplugged. Anything picked up should be removed by hand. This machine only delivers shampoo onto the carpet and picks up the uses, dirty liquid.
