Lock and open (for dust cylinder) nibs clogs with dust, impossible to open and empty and needs emptying every time you use otherwise red light always on and loses suction because it is sold as a pet vacuum it clogs easily with pet hair. I recently bought a VAX Rapide V-027. It broke just before I tried to use it for the second time. It would not suck any water in. Called their customer care and said as I do not have the receipt anymore I am not entitled for a free fix!!! Vax recommends you should clean your carpet every 6-12 months but what they mean is make sure you loose your receipt within that time limit. VAX IF YOU ARE READING THIS YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT YOU CAN COPY FROM DYSON BUT CAN NEVER BE RELIABLE LIKE THEM! All I... (read more)

take it back to shop with receipt and get a refund, the goods have to be able to do the job they are sold for, you can even get a refund without a receipt for faulty goods, dont mess about with repairs its obviously not fit for the purpose it was sold, dont let them fob you off and say they will send it back for repairs demand a refund

Just bought this machine after months of reviewing all on the market. It has cleaned my carpets very well, did the car upholstery and sofa as well. It cleans efficiently, carpets dried quickly, and the containers for the water and used water is very easy to use. A lot of other brands are actually a difficult set up. Already probably paid for itself doing all the jobs. Have to say early days but very impressed. Can't think of anything I don't like about it honestly. (read more)

"Bought this when it was on offer at Argos and now I know why it was reduced by so much! It was so unbelievably noisy and weighed a ton, seemed not so bad on its first outing but then got worse. The main issue for me was having to completely disassemble the machine after every single use and clear out the cyclones with tweezers!!also every time you pull it along using the hose it falls over constantly, now bits have started breaking off. I accepted this the first time but after two weeks... (read more)

I bought this shampooer to cope with the mess caused by dogs running into the hall. It was a total waste of money. It dispenses the water but sucks up nothing and leaves the carpet so wet that it smells and stays wet for so long that the dogs have to run on it which makes the carpet even worse. My fairly new and very expensive carpet is now totally ruined thanks to this vax product.I am disgusted. (read more)

I made the mistake of reading this review AFTER I had bought my VRS7W carpet cleaner so I used it with trepidation. I have to say that I am very satisfied. I too have a dog and found that it wasn't much good for collecting up dog hairs but it was very effective in cleaning my carpet. I can only assume that either the reviewer's machine was defective or it wasn't being used properly. The more one depresses the trigger the more cleaning solution is dispensed onto the carpet. So it is important not to dispense too much. But even if you do you can still go over the area a number of times in "suction only" mode. My dirty water tank was filled right up with filthy water, which shows that it was effectively cleaning and sucking. It is true that the carpet is left damp but that is my experience of hiring an industrial type machine from Homebase. It is a shampooer after all. But by closing all doors, turning up the radiator and adding a fan heater it had dried within a few hours.

The Vax Rapide 700w Spring Clean that I purchased recently managed to collect 150ml of dirty water out of 2 litres deposited in the rug I used it on. I have just bought a Vax Powermax cleaner as I have a dog who lays on the carpet behind the sofa. the day I bought it the dog was sick so I tried the cleaner out on the area after initially cleaning up the mess. After I had cleaned the carpet it was still quite wet and smelled like a wet dog. I rang Vax who were very helpful and recommended their own shampoo for homes with pets. I rinsed the area twice with the machine using clear water and when it had dried I used bi carbonated of soda on... (read more)

Vax upright Y-027 - Causes carpet damage - Risky use outside of 1 year warranty I recently used a Vax Y-027 to clean a spill on my carpet and heard a rumbling noise from the motor. When I moved the unit, there was a large black dust stain on the carpet that cannot be removed, possibly from a fault in the motor.......ruined carpet, or can it be cleaned? I called vax to ask if they had any advice on how to remove the stain (being carpet cleaning experts). The person on the phone seemed to... (read more)

This cleaner does not suck up the dirty water because the the suction slits underneath are not close enough to the floor. The design of this machine is rubbish. The only way to suck up the dirty water is by lifting the rear of the machine off the floor, this then lowers the front slits to the carpet to enable better water collection. (read more)

I'm pretty disappointed by this. Bought it fairly cheaply, but ight now look at getting a refund.
I thought that there mmight have been something wrong as it won't suck up the water and leaves the carpets really wet (and not very clean) Having seen other reviews, I'm now inclined to think it's just not much good.
I wouldn't recommend this machine. It's easy to use and lighter than some others I tried, but the overall cleaning is poor.

Don't touch Vax products with a ten foot barge pole, after sales service is appalling. My first machine exploded the first time it was used and stained my carpet. The second machine also broke very quickly. Vax acknowledged they were at fault and offered compensation, but it took 23 phone calls and e-mails, nine months and a court order to get it. (read more)

Vax V - 028 Rapide Power Jet Pro Carpet Washer
Absolute rubbish and a complete waste of money the suction is extremley poor so leaves the carpets very wet. The attachment doesn't work properly so I can't clean the stair carpet (which was the main reason I purchased it). I would have been better off putting the money towards a new carpet. Don't buy this product!

I recently bought the Vax Rapide Pet... Its a great cleaner dont get me wrong and was great value for money! However I could not get it to suck up the dirty water once I had cleaned a spot! I kept taking the dirty water bucket off the front and putting it back on but no luck.. in the end I turned it upside down to see what was wrong... simple... the plastic moulding that has the hole in to suck up the water does not lay flush with the carpet, therefore will not be close enough to suck it up!... Bought a Vax cee3pee0 type from Aldi couple of years ago. At first very pleased with results, but what you have to realise is you only get these things out once every 6 - 9 months so that's fine in the guarantee period.
The build quality is extremely poor. After 3 goes into 18 months even before the motor brushes are wearing in, the water delivery nose nipple moulded into the head has broken flush, giving no opportunity of repair. It's also in a very poor position beneath the head where...

The Vax Rapide Spring Clean is magic, it does just 'what is says on the tin'.
It brought a newish beige hall carpet getting lots of wear right back to new and removed an old stubborn stain which has been scrubbed in the past with 'thousand and one' from a forty year old carpet. What more can you ask!
I'ts only snag is it doesn't have attachments though the bigger(and heavier) models do. If I was in the first flush of youth and weight wasn't an issue I would have bought a bigger model however...

Having tried various other brands of carpet cleaner i was never satisfied with them leaving behind marks andlines after the carpet has dried. I have now tried 2 Vax models and ive got to say they are te best by far. No more dry streaks across the carpet from which i presume is the brush underneath being too rough on the carpet. The vax brush seems just right height for the carpets. The cleaning solution that came with the washer i would also highly recomend, some brands can leave the carpet... (read more)

I have managed very well with the Vax wash machine. I have always added a little more than what it says on the bottle, and a a little warmer ( not boiling water!) and my carpets looked brilliant. It's never spread the dirt, I don't understand how it could. But you have to do a small bit then suck up the water and so on. As long as it keep working I am very happy with it. (read more)

I would not recommend buying the Vax Carpet Cleaner. My metal hose attachment comes apart when attempting to vacuum. The first brush head (cylinder one) just did not rotate properly despite several attempts to fix or replace therefore was no good. After purchasing the latest design which states it can be used on carpet or hard floors, I have given up and looking to purchase another vacuum. You also have to be HE MAN to use it as a washer as it's so heavy. (read more)

I agree with this review because...I bought a Vax carpet cleaner a year ago and it has been a waste of money. It doesn't clean the carpets like it shows on the adverts and the carpets are left soaking wet (they can take up to 36 hours to dry). If you are thinking of buying one, don't bother.
