“It is frustrating to watch Ramsey beat down these...”

written by Cyberbeast on 27/06/2007

It is frustrating to watch Ramsey beat down these chef's. He is a real jerk to these people. There is no constructive criticism, all he does is insult his potential peers. He calls them names like "fat cow", and other nastier names. So, if you like to watch people being humiliated, then this is your type of show, however, if you want a real cooking show, I recommend Bravo's "America's Top Chef." I personally don't have cable but download it from iTunes. I still watch "Hell's Kitchen", and continually ask myself why. I guess I hope that I will see some real cooking, but mayhap I am not as enlightened as I think I am.

“Hell's Kitchen is about a lunatice chef that spends...”

Hell's Kitchen is about a lunatice chef that spends most of his time screaming at the participants. For some reason he thinks that the louder he screams and the more he swears, the more results he will produce. I'm not sure what century he thinks we're living in. The restaurant is obviously fake, since no customer in his right mind would spend time or money going there night after night just to be turned away without actually receiving any food.
This show is embarassing for anyone that acturally works in the restaurant industry, and a waste of time for anyone else.
Someone should tell him to go cook his own stupid risotto!

“Hell's Kitchen: ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LanceBraver on 03/06/2005

Hell's Kitchen:
Fox is out to lunch. it looks like they took all contestants/wannabe actors, who applied for this gig. after watching shows like apprentice and American idol, I have come to expect that the producers have filtered out all the boring people who wouldn't even make it to one of those MTV reality shows. apprentice starts with a million applicants and ends with a group of characters you can route for or against. American idol entertains us with genuine talent and complete lack there of. Hells kitchen introduces us to people who kind of sort of have this dream of owning a restaurant but don't have a clue as to where to start. There is no one to route for or against except maybe the main character, who's over the top personality, is exaggerated to the point that it's unbelievable.

after all the hype and excitement this show was a major let down. but that's what I am starting to expect from fox.

“Hell's Kitchen: The head chef (Gordon) is trying to be...”

Hell's Kitchen: The head chef (Gordon) is trying to be Simon from American Idol, but he fails in so many ways. In the first episode I felt that the only reason the restaraunt wasn't working was because of him and him alone. Instead of telling the workers how to improve their dishes to make them acceptable, he's just grandstanded as a bully.

This guy is not only unlikable....he's unwatchable! The girl that got voted off made a desert that got high marks. The reason Gordon gave for selecting her to go was that she did not help her team...which a lot of others were guilty of too. This guy does not work for this show.

“Hell's Kitchen is doomed because it's too rough, it...”

Hell's Kitchen is doomed because it's too rough, it has a lot of foul language and it's poorly scripted.
At some point I've had an impression it was a fake restaurant, filled with actors, not real customers.
The leading character was rude to customers, which is completely unheard-of. No chef says to their customers "F#@&-off" or "go back to plastic surgery". I've watched the show for an hour and I've heard something nice ONCE. This is not gonna fly. It's doomed just like that show with Wanda Sykes - she was just too mean and too rude. Hence - the show flopped. And so will this one.

Hello! - there is no script, Ramsey says how it how is - no fluff, no gloss, no pretending. Also, there is no character, its not a story line!!!......

I suppose the customers are aware of their level of participation on the show as a judges of the food and service, it would be unrealistic to expect them to behave as they would in any other restaurant. It would then make sense if they are expected to participate in a way that serves the purpose of the show. When you go to a restaurant knowing that you may not be served at all as a part of a challenge, you know smirking and complaining to get some camera time is not welcome.

While your comments are interesting and appreciated, it is obvious you have never worked in a kitchen. I have been party to worse language and treatment of customers in the atmosphere of a successful restaurant! I too felt that there was a possibilty that the restaurant scenes were staged with actors and the like however....it is NOT unheard of to receive or demonstrate such treatment in the restaurant world.....Especially in LA.

I know what you mean about the customers getting rough treatment. I believe they simply are getting to eat for free. How else could they wait for 50 minutes for an appetizer and not walk out?
