Good Points: Looks good, feels great in hand.

Bad Points: Front sight bent from factory, not fixed by factory as asked.

General comments: Beautiful wood, metal, fit except front sight leans to right about 1/4 inch! Factory replacement gun was a beat up rig that also had bent front AND rear sights. I should have kept the first one and given away, at least it looked good. Will never buy any of this co. products again.

The Benjamin Sheridan HB22 is not a bad pistol for general plinking and light hunting. A little on the heavy side, but not too bad.
I had an earlier version a while back with the barrel shaped pump handle that was easier to handle. The new "slimmer" handle can easily pinch fingers, which it seems to enjoy.

Getting up to 8 pumps takes some fortitude and continued efforts to get to that mark will guarantee you look like a weightlifter after a short while.

While I don't own any a Benjamin Sheridan I've had a Benjamin Pump rifle in 22 Caliber since I was 12 (I'm 54 now) without any problems. The best advise I received was to always put it up with one pump (no more) on the weapon so that all the seals would have pressure. The man who gave me that advise had owned a Benjamin 22 caliber air rifle for about 20 years before that.

This advise has worked consistently for me. Once you get new seals (o rings) you might give it a try.

    BTW, the reason ...

I expected more from this gun when purchased, at least compliance with declared specification, but it seems the gun is weaker than Crosman 2240 which costs 1/2 less. Another alternative is also much cheaper Crosman 1377.

This is a very old fashioned, pride in what you produce, built to last product.
I like the .22 cal for the extra knock down punch. I've added a rimfire red dot scope to mine to make my shots more accurate and easier. The factory sights are fine though. This is a no frills pistol. It takes a little effort to pump but that is to be expected. It is a classic that every airgun enthusiast should have. I'm considering a 177 also before someone decides they are outdated and quits producing them. I thin ...

Recently purchased one of these in .22. Have yet to try it on game but past experience tells me it should do well if I do my part. These guns are all metal and made in USA. That always sells me.

I bought it on line b/o had very good ratings despite really affordable price. I think that ratings should be not more than 9 because of not very strong, not pin-poit accurate, and loading it with following pumping makes shoting more like ritual than fun.

With all my gripes aside it is a pleasant gun to shoot. It hits hard enough to dispatch small pesty critters like starlings and rats. Not an ideal plinking tool because of the time it takes between shots but as a second gun or short range pest plinker it excels. Definitely not a target gun but has decent plinking accuracy once you set the sights up, albeit an occasional flyer. It is slightly more accurate than my Webley Tempest. About .75 inch groups at 8 meters. [Length of my basement]. ...

I own three Benjamin Sheridan pneumatics, and have been very pleased with them all. The HB22 I have owned for almost five years and in that time it has never given me any trouble. I must have put two or three thousand rounds through it, and in some very humid and rugged conditions. It's required only basic maintenance - oiling and lubing lightly every few hundred rounds, and pushing a dry patch down the barrel after shooting, followed by a slight dose of Pellgun Oil. It is a very well built piec ...

The Benjamin Sheridan HB22 .22 caliber pistol is great for pest control/small game hunting. I have taken birds and rats/mice from up to 20 yards with the iron sight. I would suggest taking some paint and putting a little red paint on the front sight so it stands out from the background a little more while aiming. For just plain plinking 3 pumps work just fine.

My wife gave me my Benjamin Sheridan H22 (nickel-plated as opposed to HB black model) 11 years ago. After more than 4,000 rounds it suddenly started losing power. I forgive it. Every one of those 14.3 gr. shots went exactly where I aimed it. I usually shot with 6 pumps since that was easier than 8 pumps and killed squirrels easily from 20 to 80 feet (some of my trees are 90 feet tall).
I'd love a quieter, faster re-loading gun but I don't know of any that are as accurate.
My quandary now is w ...

I purchased the Benjamin Sheridan HB22 almost eight years ago and probably fired five thousand rounds through it since then. All I have ever done to this pistol is basic maintenance like proper lubing and barrel cleaning. Power and accuracy have never been a problem; it shoots light or heavy pellets of any style that I have tried with great results. This pistol is wonderful for short range (10-20 yards) pest control, although I don't think anything bigger than a large gopher or a medium crow wou ...
