Just got back from St Gilgen, Hotel Hollweger. Very disappointed. Had previously stayed at Hotel Tirolerhof, Zellamsee and was told this was on a par. No way was it ! They did not cater for the english at all, only interested in germans. Rooms dated, hairdryer didnt work,no minibar and noisy conference attendees. When we complained because the conference guys were below our balcony for 2 hours we were told they needed to sit in the shade and were hot. Sorry, we were on holiday and had paid... (read more)

Pay a little extra for a Lake view and enjoy this wonderful hotel. The quality of rooms and service is excellent and you are always made to feel welcome. We ahve stayed at the Hollweger several times over the last 4 years and the quality has been excellent every time. We are looking forward to our next visit. (read more)

Hotel Hollweger has bedrooms at front of hotel facing main road, extremely noisy from 5.00 am.
Dinners rather inconsistent in quality and main course did not appear to be checked before leaving kitchen, i.e. some missing potato, others sauce etc., which for a 4 star hotel was poor.
Breakfasts excellent.

We stayed in the annex of Hotel Hollweger which we found delightful. The staff were very friendly, the food (we had both breakfast and evening meal) was excellent and the scenery superb. In the evening we often sat in the lounge and found it a pleasant way to round off the night. St Gilgen itself is a lovely village and we enjoyed the short walk from the hotel to there in the morning. Not really in the hotel's control but the weather sometimes very wet! Overall, a very fine holiday. ... (read more)

My wife and I stayed at a "pension", at least that is what I think they where called, run by a very nice and warm family. When the day of our departure came, we where very sad to leave such a wonderful and friendly place. If it was possible I would love to return and stay for another holiday. (read more)

St Gilgen is a lovely place with several cafes serving wonderful cakes and ice cream. The Hotel is only a few minutes walk a way from the centre of St. Gilgen and there is plenty to do there, as well as being handy to Salzberg. We had a wonderful holiday there and it was very relaxing. Would certainly go back to the same hotel. (read more)

St Gilgen, Hotel Hollweger - Lovely hotel, spacious and comfortable room with a superb view of the lake and garden from our balcony. It was worth paying extra. Very good indoor pool complex in the hotel grounds. Food was excellent, large and varied breakfast buffet, and good choice of well-presented evening meals. St. Gilgen is an attractive village, only a few minutes walk downhill from the hotel, with easy access by ferry to the other lakeside villages. (read more)

Hotel Hollweger is an excellent hotel, 4 star with friendly service in general. Large garden with lake view, very good leisure centre with beautiful swimming pool with ample supply of towels.
The only thing against it is the noise the mountain view rooms suffer from (a main road is about 30-40 meters away) when the windows are open.
Excellent salad buffet most nights.
