“Reliable quick around town comfortablish on long journeys ”

2005 111cdi lwb 80,000 miles love this van she has been good to me parts have been cheap. She fits into every car park we have been too. But seats are wafer thin, cabin is as appealing as Borat in his lime green swim suit, road noise is like sitting next to a Texan from London to Scotland on a slow train. As for the rust well you would think I live in Cornwall on the beach. Will be addressing the seating problem by installing some leather seats from a Vaneo and purchasing a sound proofing kit as well as some 2nd hand doors. She is under powered on the motorway bigger turbos or larger MB engine is needed and rear wheel drive in the little snow we have well Zero traction.

bought my vito from new loved it from the moment i got into it drove like a dream.
for three years not a problem but no sooner had it come out of its warranty it started to have issues the main one the engine management light came on,brought it to Mercedes ans came back just one of those things broke down again done system check no ans broke down again another check suggested dirty fuel, removed and emptied tank no ans thought it was the common rail took it of and ran it on a test rail it wouldn't run properly god help me if it breaks in future. next they discovered that the hardy spicer on the prop shaft had gone at 63,000 miles just ones of those things according to them. Bill at moment £2,300 and they still not sure what the problem is? Mercedes world leaders eh!!!!. P.S. for any one wanting to know the 3yr servicing does not include adjusting or checking brakes on vehicle as i found out to my cost so be warned and they eat through discs and pads very quickly.

Hi On looking for spares i have come across this web site, we have a vito 115 cdi 2004 , we have had to change the rear springs 18 months ago and now the front are requiring replacement have had them inspected and have been advised that they are faulty, the paint on the sliding door and other areas have flaked off (independant coach works have said that the fault in under coat and over colour has not settled, spoken to Merc Customer services who do not want to know we have on done 47,000 miles (no heavey work). also know of a 2005 with same problems who are trying to deal with Mercedez who don't want to know. thinking of joining togeather on looking on the internet for 30 minutes and have found 27 out of 33 reports for vans 2003 - 2007 all reporting the same problems will keep an eye on this web site if anyone else would like join forces may be we will get someone

Just go get transit van or any other I am sure much better you make right dissection better then Mercedes don’t go for name, I am very regret to bought the Vito spend over £10000 :( contact me if you have any question leos-(at)live.co.uk / 03/08/2012

Hi Guys, I Own a 110cdi 2002 Vito.
Like you guys same problem with the front tyres scrubbing off -only 8k miles covered on new set of Dunlop LT30's and both completly now illegal. Rust is becoming a problem which I will have to address soon as it's becoming a bit 'tatty' to be seen in. Other than those issues, the engine & performance is great, (although ive heard of gearbox issues) two sliding doors & economy all ok. However it just loves to burn front tyres

“i bought my mercedes vito van from normands heathrow...”

i bought my mercedes vito van from normands heathrow in 2000, on an X plate really great van.
my only major problem "was" as ive got rid of it now, was "RUST" after just 4 years coming from first all of the doors.
along the bottom and along the door bumper strips including the rear tailgate.
then all the wheel arches,at the front just above the bumper a thin painted strip.
under the bonnet the main cross member rusted badly ive never seen this before.
i contacted mercedes about this, and not knowing the anticorrosion warranty asked how long the warranty was.
the customer service person did not know, then after going away and asking came back and said 3 years on their vans 6 years on their people vito carrier .
i said why so have you two kinds of quality finish, this was a laughable answer but costly to me.
it cost me £2,500 to have this refurbished on my van, mercedes did not want to know .
i used to drive transit vans and decided to go german ,only to find out my mercedes was made in spain as are transits.
ive never seen the kind of all over rust in any transit, as i had in my vito.
i would love to hear from mercedes but never have, i also found out that vito people carriers are made in germany maybe thats why they fair better .

Drives beautifully, comfortable. Looks good in black with alloy wheels. Two siding doors is great. Great to drive, but resale value will be killed by rust. Mercedes pretend this is almost unheard of.

Van currently with dealer who will check it out whilst im on hols. So far dealers have handled complaint well. But I expect them to cover cost of new tyres or at least make contribution to new tyres. Drivers window switch came off in my hands at about 15000 miles. Noticed excessice tyre wear on outside of front tyres at about 10000 miles . stupidly thought it was design of tyre as rest of tyre tread still had so muck tread left. Van had first service at 19000 miles. 800 mile later I found the outer tread had gone down to webbing.

The Mercedes-Benz VITO Could have done with the 150 bhp engine- although 109 bhp is reasonable. Rust is just not acceptable- what will it be like in another 2 years. Have not used Merc. dealers. Garage wanted 350 plus VAT for basic service- change the oil and kick the tyres. I don't think so.

“I have just bought a Mercedes 111 CDI Xtra long...”

★★★★☆

written by Tizzer on 05/07/2007

I have just bought a Mercedes 111 CDI Xtra long version. Have owned it for 5 days and up to this point I'm very pleased with it (very early days). However, disaster has just struck!....I picked up two passengers from the airport last night, jumped on the motorway and then BANG! I turned round to my right and the sealed window on the sliding door had exploded and shattered! No one had taken a pot shot at me and no loose stones had flew up and hit the window! I'm convinced this was a manufacturers problem and the window exploded of its own accord. Mercedes at first wouldn't admit liability until I made a strong complaint and eventually they repaired the window. Has any one else had the same experience as I did as Mercedes are saying that this is the first case to their knowledge?

“The new model Mercedes-Benz Vito is now avialable in 3...”

★★★★☆

written by DB4GT on 02/08/2004

The new model Mercedes-Benz Vito is now avialable in 3 body lengths and the option of a high roof on the Long wheel bases. I bought this van because the Sprinters we have have been such excellent vans. I have the 111CDI LWB Extra Long wheel base model which seems more than capable of hauling loads up to it's maximum gross weight with no drama. Like its big brother, the Sprinter, they can really fly. But if I were to choose again, I would have the 115cdi for that little bit of extra power on the hills. The seats, while very comfortable, are a little cramped when the full length bulkhead is installed restricting the recline angle. The single passenger seat fitted to this particular van is probably not worth the money or inconvenience of taking only one passenger and they complain of little knee room. Merc CD is standard, as is twin sliding doors and a 6 speed manual gearbox.
Most of my complaints have been about the build quality and Mercedes dealers reluctance to help. This particular van was spec'd to have a single rear door but when it was delivered had twin doors - a very long re-order time ensued. Alarm problems, electric window faults and suspension knocking have all been ongoing problems. Mercedes parts availability is terrible for this model at the moment and no one at the dealerships seems to be very knowledgable on the Vito. All in all, it is a good van, if a little pricey. Lets see how it proves long term!
