Bad Points: Rust. Rust. Rust. Rust on the roof- rubbed it away and could see daylight. It is only 4 1/2 years old. Rust on door eges, bonnet edges, middle of doors. None due to stone chips. Only other panel vans rusting like this at this age are Sprinters.
General comments: Drives beautifully, comfortable. Looks good in black with alloy wheels. Two siding doors is great.
Great to drive, but resale value will be killed by rust. Mercedes pretend this is almost unheard of.

This 2005 Mercedes Vito is good to drive and looks considerably better than it's competitors.
But my first Mercedes has still been a big disapointment due to manufacturing and support.
It has only had a couple of mechanical failures, quite impresive for 125000 miles. But, rusting bodywork is unacceptable.
On a commercial vehicle, money is what counts. My local Mercedes service agent charges almost £100 per hour and each repair has had to be corrected at least once.
I refuse to pay that ra ...

Van currently with dealer who will check it out whilst im on hols. So far dealers have handled complaint well. But I expect them to cover cost of new tyres or at least make contribution to new tyres.
Drivers window switch came off in my hands at about 15000 miles. Noticed excessice tyre wear on outside of front tyres at about 10000 miles . stupidly thought it was design of tyre as rest of tyre tread still had so muck tread left. Van had first service at 19000 miles. 800 mile later I found the ou ...

I own a 4 year old Mercedes Vito traveliner. It has reativly low mileage. (52,000 miles). It has never done any commercial carrying. It has also been well looked after. However, corrosion has been a problem from early days. The first was noticed after about nine months. There was substantial rust inside the sliding doors, also inside the rear light clusters. This was taken care of by Mercedes. Last year I had substantial rust on the underside of the bonnet. This again was taken care of under war ...

I would not have another Mercedes Benz Vito unless they can rectify rusting. I could live with the other problems: 2 water leaks from loose hose clips, front tyres scrubbing- now fixed, seat splitting for second time, seat belt sticking, sliding door dropped, window cable snapped, failed turbo sensor, alarm problems-returned 7 times in first 2 months, enginner from Germany investigated problems twice, missing heater part (could not prove whose fault as I had sat nav fitted elsewhere), gears stif ...

My Mercedes Benz Vito is 4 years and 4 months old. 51.000 miles. It has not been used for heavy work. I am a printing press engineer. All it is used for is carrying tools and occasionally personal stuff. The most weight it has carried is a fridge freezer. Considering it has had 2 new shock accsorbers, 1 spring, radiator problems, fuel consumption is not good and has had serious rust problems, it is not good value. Merc don't want to know about ongoing rust problems. I will be changing as soon as ...

The Mercedes-Benz VITO Could have done with the 150 bhp engine- although 109 bhp is reasonable. Rust is just not acceptable- what will it be like in another 2 years. Have not used Merc. dealers. Garage wanted 350 plus VAT for basic service- change the oil and kick the tyres. I don't think so.

Nice van if it works. Don't give Mercedes your cash. The quality of their product has improved since a few years ago but it is still not good enough. This was the most expensive van I looked at and could have got a better built vehicle with another dealer for thousands less. I have wasted days of my working time driving the van to the other side of town to the dealer and sitting waiting for the repair or loading all of the materials/tools into the loan van and then back for my van ,unloading /lo ...

Mercedes would take no responsibility whatsoever. Each time I spoke to somebody different they kept informing me that the radio was not the original one but seemed to get flustered when I informed them that they installed the radio/sat nav system.

Electric window buttons on my Mercedes-Benz VITO are worn out already. They won't replace the buttons because they say it's the tile adhesive that I use in my job that is wearing them down. My hands are clean the whole time! Water in the fuel filter, but they tell me petrol stations have too much water in their tanks. Not so. It only happens when it rains. Just today I had to drain the fuel filter 25 times in the space of 2 hours. It's fine when it's dry. They have already replaced the injectors ...

I have just bought a Mercedes 111 CDI Xtra long version. Have owned it for 5 days and up to this point I'm very pleased with it (very early days). However, disaster has just struck!....I picked up two passengers from the airport last night, jumped on the motorway and then BANG! I turned round to my right and the sealed window on the sliding door had exploded and shattered! No one had taken a pot shot at me and no loose stones had flew up and hit the window! I'm convinced this was a manufacturers ...

I have owned my Mercedes-Benz VITO 111CDI LWB Extra Long now for nearly 2 years and I cannot express my complete disappointment, distrust and disgust with not only the vehicle but also the complete lack of support from Mercedes.
Since new, I have had major suspension problems, from noises like twisting metal, to banging noises from the suspension. On full lock the van crabs to such an extent that you cannot use full lock.
The van wanders across the road and the steering wheel cannot be straig ...

Since owning this van as a company vehicle, it has been nothing but trouble and has been back to the dealer several times. The build quality is very poor, rust appears as soon as the paint is chipped and gets worse very quickly. The van has been returned to the dealer on 3 occasions for noisy front suspension the strut rubber mounts were replaced first, then a day to track and set up the suspension. The second time the struts and the mounts were replaced and another day off the road to set up su ...

Poor after sales service upsets me the most. Things were much better when Mercedes Benz car dealers looked after light commercials but MB know best!
The front tyres scrub out on the edge due to the tyres folding under when turning on a full lock. You can almost feel the rubber rolling off, which is due to poor steering geometry design. I have improved mine by fitting springs from the people carrier which has lowered the suspension and increased the negative camber. The side loading door hinge ...

I have had my Mercedes-Benz VITO 111CDI LWB Extra Long van for just over a year & done 20,000 miles. In this time the following has happened to it/been replaced on it:
It is on it's third set of front tyres due to excessive tire wear on the outside edge. Each set lasts about 9000 miles then its illegal.
The van has been re-tracked on three occasions, the first time took 4 1/2 hours & then had to be returned for stearing wheel re-alignment.
It is on its third set of wheel trims due to t ...

The new model Mercedes-Benz Vito is now avialable in 3 body lengths and the option of a high roof on the Long wheel bases. I bought this van because the Sprinters we have have been such excellent vans. I have the 111CDI LWB Extra Long wheel base model which seems more than capable of hauling loads up to it's maximum gross weight with no drama. Like its big brother, the Sprinter, they can really fly. But if I were to choose again, I would have the 115cdi for that little bit of extra power on the ...
