    Good Points: location, staff, room

General comments: We were looking for a central hotel for four nights in Athens for our family and we found it. It was quite difficult to find family rooms in Athens. The Hotel Rio was very convenient. The rooms were perfectly adequate and comfortable. Very quiet too. The breakfast was very pleasant, and the staff was extremely helpful. As for the location, you are but walking minutes away from places such as Plaka, Acropolis, museums, the National Garden, Ermou Street and its lively sidewalk cafes, and other worthwhile sights. We recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel Rio for five nights. The location is perfect. You are 5 to 10 minutes walking from everything. The location of the hotel was ideal for exploring Athens and was close to all major sites of interest. Near many shops and restaurants. The staff are warm and friendly. Nice breakfast room. If you are considering staying in Athens, this is the place to stay.

The Hotel Rio Athens is a delightful hotel, well situated for a jaunt to the old town Plaka or the Acropolis (metro station METAXOURGHIO). The indoor/outdoor cafe - restaurant is excellent and the included buffet breakfast is delicious. Service is fast cheerful and friendly and all of the desk personnel while we were there spoke English, Italian, French, German and Spanish very well. Will look forward to staying there again and again.

Excellent Choice for a relaxing, beautiful stay.
    We loved the Hotel Rio.
The staff were accommodating and friendly, never tiring of our questions. They gave us good recommendations on tours and booked our tour for us. Very nice location. The beds were very comfortable. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

I would not recommend Hotel Rio Athens. There are lots of others all around it if you like this part of Athens with probably more honest managers!

I was surprised at the outstanding location of the Hotel Rio Athens. It was very quiet next to the metro station, and it was situated a 10 minutes walk from everything - the Acropolis, the Plaka, Psiri, and National Museum etc..
The staff was very helpful, and the hospitality and services provided by the hotel excellent.
We travel very often to Athens on business, and we prefer to stay at this hotel because of the comfortable atmosphere and easy access.
I highly recommend this hotel to you a ...

We stayed at the Hotel Rio Athens while on business in Athens, and we found it to be a great hotel! It is centrally located and close to all the city centre attractions. We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel has multilingual staff, a great restaurant, modern accommodations, and a travel agency etc.

The Hotel Rio Athens is in an excellent location in the heart of Athens. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by their friendly staff. The service was excellent; the facilities of the room were plenty. The rooms were nicely decorated, comfortable and very clean. The rooms, as well as the hotel were well-designed and well-appointed.
It's just a short walk to the Metro station "Metaxourghio". We plan on revisiting Athens in the near future, and we would not even consider another hotel.

When we arrived, having had a confirmed booking with a prepaid voucher arranged through HotelsRus.co.uk, we were told the hotel was full (although other guests who arrived after us and who had booked later than we had were given rooms). We were taken to an inferior hotel which we did not like. When we returned to Hotel Rio the staff were unpleasant, especially the manager Mr Ioannou. We eventually were provided with a pokey room with a window looking out onto an internal courtyard. Because we ha ...
