Good Points: This rich, smooth "old" ale is history in a glass and pure silk on the palate. It should be Grade 1* listed! The emphasis is on MALT and both Dickens and Cobbett would have approved. It warms the cockles of your heart and represents the best of "Olde England".
Bad Points: Too strong for a session beer but how can you resist it?
General comments: Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby is a superb beer and can occasionally be found in the free trade but is best enjoyed where it is brewed....the Beacon Hotel in Sedgely. Forget H.G.Wells and the Time Machine, you can visit our glorious past in real time by travelling to the Black country. Do it before you die!
