(I only clicked a star because the site made me)

This is an unbelievably shady company. They have ridiculous cancellation requirements on their contracts. I went to the gym paid my membership in full, and told them to cancel the membership immediately. That was over 6 months ago. Now here I am at the end of the contract and they are still charging my card for a membership that I have not used and cancelled in person. They lady at the gym said it was not a problem when I canceled. Now the same lady is trying to tell me that I have to write a letter 6 months later. What a bunch of *rap. I hope this company goes bankrupt and never has another member again. What a piece of junk business.

Also there facilities are below par and never open when you actually want to workout. They operate more like a daycare than gym. I guess this is only for stay at home moms or something, but not for the working business woman. BAD BAD BAD Company.

Unfortunately, I'm a memeber at the Reston, VA gym. It is very small and old, but it was cheap. There are no classes after 6 pm. so I can never make it to a class after work. I liked the belly dance class, but the instructor stopped teaching there. So there is nothing there appealing to me anymore. Besides, I moved to Leesburg, which is 25 miles away. Their website says that you can cancel a membership if you move more than 25 miles away. I provided a mapquest print out and my new drivers ...

I joined a Lady of America in Miami January 2009 - paid in full for a one-year membership. It just closed (March 2009) - without notice to its members or any posting on the door. I AM FURIOUS! I am demanding a prorated refund - will follow up with results in future posting. FYI: In Florida, under the Health Studio Act (501.012-501.019, Florida Statutes) a gym contract can be cancelled by written notice from the customer if a) the gym closes and an alternative location within 5 miles of the fac ...

I was told if I moved they will grant my request to cancel the membership but it never happened. I read the fine print and wrote a letter to them regarding availability of a Lady of America in the area and still they disregard the request. I just canceled the credit card and did not give the new information to them and so what they report to credit bureau.

I joined Lady of America a little over 2 years ago with very little experience with gyms before then. A couple months ago a friend who is a fitness buff took me to another gym for a trial. The management at the other gym is positive and helpful, working with me to develop several circuits based on their assessment of my fitness goals and physical condition. I never got anything like this at Lady of America. Unfortunately I signed a 3 year agreemnt with Lady of America and they won't allow a ...

The employees changed all the time. I believe that it was a very poorly managed facility. Rarely, was there anyone there for assistance or questions. The facility I attended closed down with no notification and opened an additional 5 miles out.
As my commute was now 7 miles verses 3, I was quite upset.
My time was limited and the new facility was a half hour's drive, one way.
They would not allow me to cancel my contract either. My recommendation is to go somwhere else!

I joint the lady of america in virginia/ 20964 south bank street in sterling during their open house last month. I have been a member for about 1 month, and I was looking for a supportive place for a long time, I am so happy I joined and I get all the support and motivations from my personal trainer.

I love the club that I go to Sterling VA, they have everything that I need. I have transfered my membership from the Reston location to the Sterling Location, and it is 100 times better, the sterling staff is very professional, and helpful unlike the Reston one.I am very
happy and will continue my membership here. The staff in the child care are wonderfull, my kids never want to leave.

If you sign a contract make sure you read it over carefully and have someone else take a look at it too. I became a member of the Miami Lakes, FL location and I felt like I was misled in my understanding of the contract, and when i questioned the owner about it I was treated rudely, in my opinion.

I love the location in Plano. It is the cleanest Lady of America I have ever been to. The staff are all certified and in the fitness field, not typical sales people. The ladies are a blast, and you can tell they love what they do!

In the early fall of 2007 I went in to Lady of America, Reston, and told receptionist/manager(?) that I had been in physical therapy for the past two months and my therapist and chiropractor had both told me to stay out of any "aerobics classes". My back was a mess and the therapist felt it was going to be a very long recovery. She was extremely careful in her therapeutic exercise program and I was not using any machines. The heaviest weights I used in therapy were 2 pounds. In addition, I h ...

DON'T join this GYM. Like the other reviews read the contract. They tend to put 3 years ( in months ) and once you sign the contract you cannot cancel unless you move or do it within 3 days of signing. They have a month to month option but did not highlight it. Also make sure automatic renew.

The gym is convenient for me. However, I feel their business practice is unfair and predatory. As I feel I was mislead about the gym membership. When I signed up, they explained how the gym membership worked and the different plans available. At no point when signing did they inform me that it was a three year contract agreement.

    Two negative instances occurred:

    1. In the past I had tried to email this franchise about rate information. I was very specific with my questions. They replied with a vague email and told me to make an appointment or stop by. When I "called them out" on the fact they did not answer any of my questions or even acknowledge that I was looking for specific information, they replied with a "it's our policy not to give out rate information over email and most gyms won't". Perhaps not over email ...

I moved to Virginia for about 6 months, and joined the Lady of America Reston club under the impression there was no contract and could stop with one month's notice. Upon telling the owners I was moving out of state, I was handed a card with a # for some third party payment company, ABC Financial.

I was only able to stop auto-payments by cancelling my card and have been trying to prove that I moved out of state for the past 2 months now. Despite the fact that all of the bills/threats they se ...
