Good Points: The DVD is of a very high standard of quality, includes a nice little booklet and is packed with more live tracks than you can shake a stick at. An all-round corker of a live DVD.
Bad Points: Not that many different camera angles, but this doesn't really detract from the DVD.
General comments: Napalm Death - Punishment In Capitals - The DVD is packed full of live tracks from this well-respected death metal 5-piece. The performance is filmed from the ULU in London which was a benefit gig for the Stop Hunting and Animal Cruelty campaign (S.H.A.C). The sound quality is superb which has been taken directly from the sound mixer. Unfortunately there aren't that many different camera angles but this certainly doesn't detract from the footage. Napalm Death's performance is outstanding, cramming 28 live numbers into the one set. There are also some bonus extra live tracks from Tokyo in 1996 and Santiago in 1997. The band didn't have the safety net of two or three shows being filmed - as is the case with so many other bands' DVDs - they went for it in one take. And as a result, it has all the energy, intensity, heart and soul which has made Napalm Death such a cause celebre and a massively important band wherever there's a enclave of dedication to aggresive music with a point and focus.
The track listing is as follows:
1.Lucid Fairytale 2.Take The Poison 3. Next On The Last 4.Constitutional Hell 5.Suffer The Children 6.Cleanse Impure 7.Politicians 8.Breed To Breathe 9.Vermin 10.The World Keeps Turning 11.Can't Play Won't Pay 12.Unchallenged Hate 13.Volume Of Neglecy 14.Narcoleptic 15.Hung 16.From Enslavement To Obliteration 17.Scum 18.Life 19.The Kill 20.Deceiver 21.You Suffer 22.Cure For A Common Complaint 23.Mass Appeal Madness 24.Greed Killing 25.Instinct Of Survival 26.Nazi Punks F**k Off 27.Back From The Dead 28.Siege Of Power
The Bonus live tracks are as follows:
Tokyo, Japan 1996
1. My Own Worst Enemy
2. More Than Meets The Eye
Santiago, Chile 1997
1. Discordance
2. I Abstain
3. Unchallenged Hate
4. Greed Killing
5. Suffer The Children
6. Mass Appeal Madness
So, all in all that rounds up to a whoping 36 live tracks on one disc. Talk about value for money! The DVD comes on Region 0 PAL and runs for 160 mins approx. This is a fantastic purchase for anyone into this fierce band.
