Good Points: I had a fabulous stay in Filia.
It was typically Greek and the rooms were simplistic (and clean) but thats all you need, unless you plan to spend the whole holiday indoors! The pool was extremely clean, and the bar was cheap with good service.
The staff were very friendly although they don't all speak fluent English, I'd imagine all of their English is better than my Greek!
The Greek night was not an event too miss. We met lots of people and had a night we definitely wont forget!
The staff also provided free transfers to the beach in their minibus and trips into town for prices a lot cheaper than the taxis and way more pleasant than the packed buses! They were very reliable for pick up, etc.
It was a 15 minute stroll to the local beach and it took around 10 minutes to walk to the bus stop.

Around the pool there were many sunbeds, which had comfortable cushions and umbrellas. There were also small tables for drinks etc.
The pool table was free and they had a large selection of books and magazines to lend and read!
The food sold at Filia was not expensive, but fresh and yum!

Bad Points: The only problem was we found the towels were small (this seems to be the case with most places in Greece), but out there you dry pretty quickly in the heat!
The apartments are on a hill, but this had lots of plus points! We were further away from the water so there were less mosquitoes, away from the noise and main road and the views were fantastic.

General comments: I had a fabulous stay at the Filia Apartments. I would definitely go back, and other families on my trip said exactly the same!

I can describe the Filia with three words-- HOLIDAY FROM HELL. Yes we got a great welcome but once we complained and changed rooms, because of the loud music till 4 in the morning, he didn't bother even speaking with us. The room was very basic, 1 toilet roll for two people for two weeks. The beds were only changed once in two weeks. The bathroom was never cleaned the whole time we were there. The shower head had a mind of it's own as it squirted everywhere. The worktops or sink was not cleaned ...

Went here 1st week in June 2008. Apart from the dreadful noise at night, the place was lovely. The guys who run it were very nice. The place was nice enough to stay around all day. If you go back to your room early, try to avoid getting a room with a pool view as the rooms at the back are a bit less noisy but you do get road noise as well.

Atmosphere is excellent at the Filia. Its red hot but that's what we like. Very clean food spot on.Haven't been for 3 years but are going back in July for my honeymoon cant wait. Our kids love it, loads to do for them. Make sure you drink plenty red bull to keep you awake because you wont go bed till late. Fantastic place and they always make you welcome. This will be our third time there the kids are excited.

Fantastic hols thanks to all the family, 2001 we got married in Creta and stayed at Filia and go back to see them every year. Don't stay there any more due to the silly flights. We have been to Stalis twice in winter ,always go to see the family and have good times as there are not doing much.

Our whole holiday at the Filia Apartments in Stalis was fab! Loved the entertainment. Food was great! Me and my family have been twice now and are hoping to go back within a year or 2. This is a great place for families!

Great apartments, would definitely go back again! I'm going back to Crete in August 2007 but this time staying nearer Malia.

Not ideal for people with walking difficulties, or people who don't like loud music as it goes on til early hours in the morning (4.45). Very loud afternoon and early hours of the morning.

Everything is within walking distance from Filia Apartments, beach is beautiful, and definitely get a quad. also stay away from Malia.. its not what its cracked up to be

The Filia Apartments in Stalis were clean and adequately furnished. The pool was a good size and clean, and there was a nice children's area and plenty of sunbeds.

Stalis in Crete is a wonderful place for a family holiday. We have been 4 times and would go back to the Filia now the kids are a bit older and can swim...

This was my first time in Crete. The Filia apartments are family run, and what a family!!!

The rooms are basic, but hey your on holiday! How long do you spend in your room anyway? The weather was fantastic, and Stalis is perfect for families.

I would definitely go again.

I stayed at Filia Apartments last year and came back this year to see the guy's, unfortunately I couldn't get booked into the Filia as it is so popular. It is clean, tidy, and friendly, has all you would ever need and is close to the beach, shops and pubs. We're planning on going back next year for our wedding; Michael has kindly offered to arrange everything on that side. It is a very special place.

Have already booked to go back to Filia Apartments next year, my family really enjoyed the holiday, and are looking forward to seeing Billy, Michael, George, who run the Filia hotel, and Manos who is Michael and Marinas son. This is a quiet hotel, very clean, and the food is good value, the pool is quite big and there is also a pool for children, there is also a small playground for the little children. The family make you feel very welcome and nothing seems to be to much trouble.

Filia Apartments are Fab, very clean and comfortable, the bar staff who also own the place are very friendly, make very good food and they have an excellent BBQ night the pool bar also has a massive screen tv for all football matches. Cannot fault this place, best holiday I've ever had. Only a short walk tot he shops and beach too so great for old and young alike.
