Danger, creator of the popular Hiptop messaging device, said today that it has agreed to a broad manufacturing deal with Sharp. Sharp will produce a new Hiptop in time for the Christmas shopping season. The deal will allow Danger to focus on its software and service, while also eliminating production and inventory issues that have been a problem in the past. Separately, Danger said it had received a new round of $37 million in venture capital financing. (read more)
