Good Points: An engrossing and intriguing documentary that doesn't try to force an opinion on you.

Bad Points: Some may find the subject matter (paedophilia) a little uncomfortable.

General comments: Capturing The Friedmans - This is a fascinating documentary that is more about a family slowly imploding than it is about paedophilia. In 1988, Arthur Friedman and his eldest son, Jesse, were accused of abusing young boys who visited the house for computer lessons. The film is made up of present day interviews with two of the three Friedman sons, including the accused Jesse and also Arthur's ex-wife Elaine as well as police officers and lawyers involved in the case. What makes it so interesting is that there is also a great deal of home movie footage that shows the family arguing and falling apart in light of the allegations. The difference between this documentary and other's I've seen is that the facts are presented in a totally unbiased way and you really are allowed to form your own opinions. I recommended watching it with at least one other person as I guarantee you will want to discuss it afterwards - it really is a film that makes you think.
