Good Points: Rich deep sound with no distortion (heard things on cds I didn't realise were there before).

Bad Points: The button to tune the radio is frankly cheap and nasty. I hate the fact that the speakers have such short leads and that you cannot replace them because of the connectors. The tape deck is rather noisy. Wish I'd bought the upgraded model with usb connection - didn't think I'd need it 5 years ago.

General comments: Great sound and tape deck handy for oldies but goodies. 5 years old with no problems (fingers crossed then!)I like the fact that it sits so neatly on my bookshelves. The remote control is very useful but it's frustrating that some of the functions can only be accessed by this and not via the unit.

I have the Sony CMT-CPX1 stereo connected to a Pioneer amp through the AMP out and connected to a DJ Mixer, I use it for music, TV, Movies and anything else that has music and it sounds superb. The quality is great and it never distorts. One of the best features is that if the stereo is straining it will automatically shut down as so not to damage itself. Pure genius.

After selling my technics seperates hi-fi(because i was changing everything to silver),I was looking at the new replacement model sceh790
but did not think the build quality or sound was worth the £500 or so asking price.

After spending weeks in every electrical retailers in my area i narrowed it down to 3 systems,The Denon dm31 £299,Sony cmt cpx1 £199and the Technics micro seperates system schd560 £349.

For pure sound quality alone i would have gone for the techni ...
